Hamed is limping out. He has been brilliant today. Controlling the midfield well. I hope it's not a serious injury for him though

Egyptians need forwards that can use footwork to wriggle their way out of one on one situatIons and create clear chances

Trezeguet and co are decent forwards but....

This is the man they need... Nothing less.

Kudos to Egypt for holding the line. Just need some finesse up-front.

The way Suarez has been frustrated today, I can say he is just one more miss away from biting someone... Loolll

Egypt has impressed so far, say what you want

They just lack a cutting edge up front, but they have neutralised Cavani and Suarez. Their defending is also top notch. Notice how well they have dealt with corners, save that Suarez miss

That's where Salah comes in.

Here's hoping Rohr gets his tactics spot on too. Yes, and that means playing Ebuehi instead Shehu and somehow shoehorning Iwobi in mid field. grin

Russia 2018 General Titbits

From CNNSport:

Plenty of empty seats at the 33,061-capacity Ekaterinburg Arena for #EGYURU

FIFA says it is currently investigating why the current attendance doesn't reflect the number of tickets allocated (32,278).

"Can be due to different factors," FIFA says in a statement.

The Egyptian defenders are doing well but the link between midfield and attack is not gelling.

Egypt needs to be more composed in the final third. They’ve had decent chances to be at least 2 goals up.

Anyone who has watched Egypt play in recent years can not be surprised. They keep it tight at the back and wait for Salah to do his magic upfront.

I think it is way too early to say the pig, mystic Marcus is wrong... Remember Portugal's run in Euro 2016. Nothing spectacular too... Even against Hungary and Iceland (their first Euros) in the first round they struggled. This is football... Nothing conclusive until the final whistle or end of a tournament.

So let's keep watching and observing...

if only countries could buy players.

Saudi Arabia's first XI would be:

De Gea

Marcelo Boateng Ramos Alves

De Bruyne Countinho Kante

Salah CR7 Messi

You for dey see people like Sane, Neymar, Alonso, Umtiti, Mbappe, Neuer, Firmino, Lukaku, Hazard, Alba, Bale for their bench

Exactly Sir Tbaba... This is their style... "keep it tight at the back and get the ball to Salah!!"

The "Pass it to Salah" approach is their way... And this is not how Nigeria play. This is for those wanting us to adopt Egypt's tactics... We are way more lethal upfront than Egypt so we cannot play the same.
We can only pick a thing or two from their defensive organisation but not to adapt their entire defensive structure as our game. Mbanu!

Yeah, that's the stick which critics have been using to beat Cuper, that he has no plan b, his only plan is give the fvking ball to Salah

And the Mystic Marcus prediction looms large again over Russia 2018...

Uruguay, nothing that spectacular but the result they have gotten... See? This is football... Nothing conclusive as I said..

You have to give it to the South Americans. They just know how to win.

This is the problem with African teams - last minute waste of efforts.

Happened to Nigeria vs Italy n 1994, Ghana vs Uruguay in 2010, and now Egypt vs Uruguay now.

So sad.

Teams that revolve around one player hardly do well in World cup.
At a point Egypt was comfortable with the idea of a draw. Cost them
