I was so hurt by yesterday's defeat that I had to take some sleeping pills after I got back from the viewing centre. we didn't deserve to lost yesterday . Rohr totally killed us... Playing 4-3-3 wasn't exactly the problem but playing the players out of their most effective role was... Etebo should have played on the wings while Mikel drop deep and Iwobi plays amf. . And his love for shehu,I really don't get it...Ebuehi definitely would have done a better job yesterday than shehu... Rohr should have taken shehu and Ighalo off at half time and brought in nacho and Ebuehi and switched to 3-5-2...seriously, did the man even learn anything from our friendlies?? I'm really hurt.. if he makes the dance mistake against Iceland and we lost, he should be fired...

I have told you people the same thing over and over again but you guys have continued with your false doctrine.

Iheanancho was good in the game against South Africa but the midfield failed in taking advantage of his runs. Yet you people want to blame Iheanacho for the midfield not finding him.

Now Ighalo offered little movement upfront and now you people want to blame Mikel for our conservative style.

Playing Mikel deeper means you guys want Iwobi or Iheanacho in attack midfield to support Ighalo because he is not capable of causing defenders problem.

It might work but it kills our three man midfield combos who can contribute defensively and keep us compact in the Middle. To take advantage of this, we need movement upfront. This was our problem, not Mikel.

When Iheanacho entered, with Mikel in the side, we were deadlier. It is so easy to see. Look at the window when Iheanacho attacked and tell me we would not have cause the Croatians more problems.

I totally support you sir, and I dont know why the coach doesnt see it, the truth is Ighalo has more supporters than Iheanacho thats why no one sees his flaws.

Ighalo position skill is so poor, not good in air
poor decision making, give him ten chance he wont score one, infact you wont even find he to give a chance sef.
He is always with a defender and doesnt lose his marker, slow to react and we call that one a striker, we are deceiving ourself, it will take a miracle for him to score most of his shots are week. Abeg i don tire to see am for pitch, person wey get 5 goals since he started playing for us.
The only lethal striker is iheanacho unfortunately the coach no like am just same way he prefers shehu to ebuehi.
I dont have anyhope in rohr at all.

Ighalo not good enough.

You added notes on corners...

Okay now let's try to get this... We wasted our corners because right from I can remember, we have not yet mastered the art of being threatening from set pieces like Cornerkicks. And it is sad. I recall many pages ago crediting Oliseh for improving that aspect of our play. We were deadly from indirect freekicks and corner kicks in his short tumultuous reign. But under Rohr we have only converted once from a corner against Cameroun... A dummy corner it was sef.

Also, in a corner kick, the opponent is organized enough to snuff us out and add that to the fact we are not threatening.

Now back to crosses...

In an attacking move down the flanks with the bold and adventurous fullback pushing into those pockets of spaces to run in behind and pick some crosses , the opponent won't be as organized as it is for a corner. It would be quick attempts by their available men at the back to clear the ball and there is a chance he could miss and we score, he turns it into his net... Or he clears it tamely and we capitalise and hit a rocket in....

...Or it could be akin to the fullback acting like an overlapping Onazi against Cameroun who found Nacho with a sweet low level headed cross after running in behind after opening up nicely for Victor Moses down same right... (This is what Shehu was meant to offer when we were in quick attack down that right at times... Ebuehi can offer this trait).
This is what crosses can do and how dangerous we can actually be from crosses.

Bro we dont have the line up that favors pull in/crosses except if Rohr starts using 2 strikers which must include Simy. So Shehu did nothing wrong yesterday because Moses did most of the wing play on that right side so what kind of crosses were you then expecting from him and for who?

The formation didn't favor any pul in/crosses. Believe this bro.

We conceded from set pieces but we were not over run in the Middle. Towards the end, it was a free flow from the Croatians.

What does this even mean? Conceding from set piece exonerate him or what?

Then we should just blame only Ekong and the unfortunate Etebor then. Since the rest didnt cause the 2 goals.

We could have tried. Crosses coming in like rain in that manner can always result in one chance or the other for a strike to be made. It must not always be about connecting with the head. The ball could drop off a poor or desperate tame clearance and one hit from the in-running advanced midfielders or forwards like Iwobi, Moses or Mikel or maybe an Ndidi depending on their positioning when we are on the attack in such manner, could head right in.

Also, Balogun's came from a corner I think. Ighalo's was weak no doubt and from the flanks (left flank I think).

In all, crosses dropped more than four or five times repeatedly in the opponent box could or may result in a chance for a strike off a desperate tame clearance... Or an easy tap in..

The ones that came in, how many did you use?

You that cant even defend the ones that came into your own box wants to make use of those in the opposite half?

Get the truth, this squad will do nada with crosses, they are better off with grass ball. If you want more crosses, use the right tools as strikers.

Shehu did a lot wrong yesterday especially offensively. Defensively he tried and even had Moses covering his ass.
Offensively, he was timid and afraid to venture into openings that will put him on the run behind the defender for a pull out or a charge in from the flank. Shehu was not adventurous and piss poor on that count. He was always going backwards and trying to turn back from venturing forwards as if he is afraid of space. On more than two occasions, he failed and failed again to open up into spaces to provide an extra outlet of attack for us down that right.

The formation doesn't favor what? Abegiiii... Did the formation when Nacho came on against Cameroun favor a pull put too? Or no.. It did not abi? Yet we masterminded that play and what a pull out that was from Onazi to find Nacho.

It would be even more effective with a simy sef... But crosses work in most cases because second balls to spilled attempt to clear crosses are also part of the game.

I don't this k there was much difference in the way we played yesterday and the way we played our friendlies..

And with the way we play, I don't think we I'll even score one goal in this tournament embarassed
That's the sad truth. And the problem is not from the coach, it's just from the semi average team been paraded..

We re just below average and thus not much should be expected in this worldcup.

We can only boast in our own continent against our fellow mediocre African teams. But when it comes to the world, the ballers takes the stage and the minors obsoletes in shame embarassed

Did we cross at all with Shehu in that game? Did Shehu open up and send in one cross? So why asking for the ones that fell in? Funny. You are just doing your best to defend Shehu. Omo... Shehu was poor offensively when we were in transit in attack down the right wing. I need not speak so much on that even. It is glaring except to a few of you ofcos who choose to see only what you choose to see.

It seems the old coach still havent learn from his mistakes...always looking for an excuse to give for his incompetence

Rohr Explains Why He Didn't Employ 3-5-2 Formation Vs Croatia

Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has explained why he played four at the back for the entirety of the Super Eagles 2-0 loss to Croatia, discarding the 3-5-2 formation that worked well for him, especially in the second half, during the pre-World Cup friendlies.

The former Bayern Munich defender has pointed out that the loss to the Balkans was not as a result of the formation but due to the inability of the team to defend set-pieces.

''I think the organization was okay, we didn't concede the goal in normal play, we conceded the two goals from set-pieces and it is not a question of tactics or system,'' Rohr said at the post-match press conference.
''Our system was okay, we cannot play with three (defenders) when there is only one center forward, so we played with four because they were three strikers and the Croatian strikers are very strong and I was satisfied about the organization of the team.
''What we are missing today is to be more professional with set-pieces to avoid the two goals coming from these situations.
''Each game is different, we know we can play with three center-backs but it was not a good day to do that today.''
Rohr added that the young players in the team, thought to be Oghenekaro Etebo and William Troost-Ekong, made mistakes which led to the two goals conceded by the Super Eagles.

''We are disappointed, when you lose a match it is not a good thing for us but we must recognize Croatia had the better team tonight.
''My young players made some mistakes especially from the corners we worked so much. The first goal came from a corner, the second one also from a corner, a penalty.

''There were also so many fouls in the other box that could have been a penalty for us. but we have to accept this defeat and now we have to win against Iceland.
''All is possible still because we have only one point to win to win against the two other teams. If we win the next game, all is possible for the qualification.''

if Iwobi dont start at AM or even false nine with nacho, then we are doomed, anything but from wing just play ahead of mikel in midfield.

What stopped rohr from playing same tactics we used when we played argentina naa ??, its either he is a blind fool or Oliseh was right there is truely witches in NFF, for christ sake play iwobi nacho upfront then mikel from d center moses can even play RWB afterall thats what he played yesterday.

If not for mosses perisic for roast shehu for ramadan. Mosses can play there to accomodate him in that formation, I repeat I dont want to see Ighalo strike at all, dude is so clueless and hugs defenders a lot.

I believe rohr knows that if he lose against Iceland his departure is guaranteed.

Shebi I told you. Me don de think post world cup.

With 3 at the back we hardly conceive unnecessary freekicks and corner. Our goalkeeper often go on break anytime we adopt that formation. There is this kind of compactness it gives us in the midfield as our opponents are often caged to their half. But here is Rohr saying otherwise.

How I wish there is a way we can circumvent his input and play the remaining matches

Yes we did,.
Balogun had 2 headers, Ndidi also had 1 i think. Ighalo also had one. But they were useless. Cross and nod hasn't been our strong points since Rohr came in so what exactly are you guys talking about?

Like it was because of the crosses we didn't score or what? Go and watch the matches again.

Btw, i am not defending shehu, i am just getting you guys attention away from minor issues that wouldnt even help us. Go and check all my recent lineups and you wont find Shehu there. Just stating that the current lineups doesnt support crosses because there would be no one to make use of it and we arent that good in the air either.

Lastly, unless 2 strikers are used and Simy is included, all air balls will remain wasted. Tell me if Ighalo won more than 1 airball yesterday.
