My friend, the questions should be
1) did they abandon their mother for 17yrs?
2) did they ever visit their mother on her hospital bed when they were informed of her critical state?
3) did they contribute to their mothers ware fare during the period of her ill health?

If the answer to the above is positive, then they killed their mother.
From the story, she loved the twins above her siblings cos she prayed to have them. So she must have died of excessive thinking and depression.
