Avoid These Nigerian Showroom Tricks That Will Make You Waste Money! by TechCapon(m): 2:57pm On Jun 23, 2018 |
@TechCapon Have you ever bought a new and expensive TV only to go home and see that the image quality is not as sharp as it was in the showroom ? The truth is that there are special tricks television showrooms in Nigeria and all over the world use to squeeze out your hard earned money and spend on their products whether it is worth it or not ? These showrooms go through a lot of pains to make their products look much better than it is. In this part of the world, we hardly carry out little researches on the electronics we want to buy, some people just walk into the showroom with their cash or debit cards believing that the salesmen will advice them on which one is best for them. This is a huge mistake ! They forget that the salesmen are there just for one reason, TO MAKE PROFIT. Experience has thought a lot of persons never to trust the opinions of salesmen so today, I’m going to show you some tricks these Television showrooms use to part with your money and their sales team are very much aware of this fact but will never tell you. 1. THE SHOWROOMS HAVE NO WINDOWS: This is so funny but true. Visit major showrooms in your city, you will discover that they all have one thing in common, THEY HAVE NO WINDOWS ! Even the few ones who do, they cover with windows completely to avoid sunlight from getting inside. They know that sunlight can ruin picture quality so they prevent that completely by sealing off the windows. Then they fill the dark room with special lights to enhance the picture quality and make the HDTVs look sharper than it really is. The techie name for this trick is called “Bias Light”. 2. Playing Blu-ray videos on the TVs: Television retailers connect their Top-Range Blu-ray players with special demo discs to show off their LED TVs, 3D TVs and 4K UHD TVs to their full potential. When the customers get home and connect their normal DVD players or decoders, they discover that the picture quality is lower than it was in the showroom and they begin to wonder. Playing high-bit rate mp3s on the sound systems: Television audio sounds is getting worse by the day. Its not because the TV manufacturers do it on purpose, its because TVs are getting slimmer and thinner, there’s hardly any space to squeeze in good quality speakers. This is why showrooms use high-end home-theaters to play good sound quality audio so buyers won’t know the TVs wont have good audio quality. When you get home with your new expensive TV, you will be horrified at the sound of the TV they claim to have DOLBY SOUND. The only way to avoid throwing away your money is to do your own research, get the advice of an expert or at least go in with your eyes wide open. Do not rely on the advice of salesmen. TechCapon: Ummm, but how is playing 4k Blu Ray discs or dts audio discs on their system cheating? They are simply playing what will bring out the full potential of the TV's. If someone buys the tv and plays the same 4k media on it he will get the same quality. Wait oh, so u are actually expecting to get 4k quality image on a normal DVD? U got to get kidding me. 7 Likes |

TechCapon: Explain why a showroom should have windows when the whole place is blazing with air conditioner. TechCapon: What else do u expect them to play in other to bring out the best in what the tv can do? Only high end Blu Ray players can play content with 4k image quality. A full 4k movie can take up to100gb of space or even more depending on the length. So when u are displaying a 4k tv, do u play normal DVD movie on it? How then do u want people to see what the tv can do? Did u buy the tv, take it to ur house and play a 4k blu Ray and didn't get the same result? |

greenhulk:I have seen people say 720p TVs are sharper than 1080p and mostly 4k TVs . Many people don't understand how resolution works, you'll see some playing a 240p video on a large screen and complain that a much smaller screen is clearer . 2 Likes |

Gptech: Lol, I'm sure only few people with 4k tv in Nigeria actually watch 4k content on it to see it's full potential. I have a Samsung 4k tv and I've never watched a 4k movie on it, I have a few 4k videos of about 5 mins and one file of 5 minutes is about 1.8gb. Too bad ps4 pro can't play 4k Blu Ray but the tv does a good job of upscaling videos. A lot of people will play 240p movies on 4k or even 1080p tv and say the quality is not good. When u watch real 4k content or even real 1080p content u will see the difference. This thread is a joke, it's like someone displaying a 1,000hp car and then u go and test drive it on a road with slow moving traffic. How then will u show what the car can do? 4 Likes 1 Share |

greenhulk:As we speak, some persons are planning to get a 4k TV for their Gotv decoder in order to get better looking pictures when compared to the full HD TVs they are currently on , tells you alot about the average Nigerian. I get some points the op is trying to make, like making someone have the feel of a great display from a seemingly average performing screen. This is especially true with mobile phone sellers, in addition to artificial lighting, we all know they usually set the screen brightness to maximum, and many will think such displays are excellent. They even use such tricks to fool people to think many of such phones possess great cameras. 2 Likes |

Re: Avoid These Nigerian Showroom Tricks That Will Make You Waste Money! by Nobody: 10:31pm On Jun 23, 2018 |
Gptech: Lol, gotv don't even have HD channels. It's still better with dstv as they still have some HD channels. I watch the world cup on ss3 hd and putting Samsung 4k tv on sport mode give u some really sharp pictures provided the source is in hd (in this case ss3 HD). Though not 4k quality but a lot better than every SD channel and even some HD channels would. |
