The elephant in the room is the bloated civil service. The thing is, the civil service in most states is full to the brim. Far too many staff. And an increase in salaries (note that they are not paying everyone N33000....N33000 is the minimum wage a worker on the lowest rung of the service can be paid.....)...would make it difficlt for most states to survive finaicially......EVEN if governors cut their fat salaries. |

AngelicBeing: Note that the $100 is the lowest amount of money that can be paid to a civil servant at the lowest rung of the service....it isn't the amount that most civil servants earn....most earn much higher (though still meagre) than that. Yes, Mr Governor should cut his salaries....but it won't be enough. |

Apc is a part of gimmicks. They hadn't do anything for the right heart felt reason. They probably drag this issue right to the death. When elections is close to approve the 30k to jump up their ratings. After they win they review it downwards. More like debates on restructuring. That kind thing. |

Buhari is only trying to play the caring president card by shifting the bulk to the governors while he is the complacent one with, what can they do attitude towards Nigerians. This election shouldn,t be Atiku/Buhari nor pdp/apc but Nigerians/Buhari and Nigerians/non-performers both in pdp and apc at all levels. |

nifty60: No ,just being realistic. At the moment, we need oil to be at $140 per barrel to get a budget that we can balance well well. And since we are not there, plus we are paying the debt from the loans we have had to take due to previous drops in the oil price....I doubt we can pay increased salaries....EVEN if we (And by the way,I think that governors and senators should have their salaries cut)...cut the salaries of the elite. You want arich and prosperous economy.....then make it easier for investment to occur in your country...so that the heavy tax bill pays for salary increases. And get off oil. |
