djon78: They don't have the holy spirit in the. that's why they can't understand the words of Jesus which are spirit. That explains why they love to dance, shout and enjoy churches with purple lights. All those things tickle their flesh. But when they come across real preaching, they reject it be sure it doesn't appeal to their flesh. |

alBHAGDADI:This is false and delusive, you don't just pick a phrase from the scriptures and mis interprete it the way you like to suit your ideology. “There is now therefore no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh. For the law of the spirit of life, in Christ Jesus, hath delivered me from the law of sin and of death.” But they forget that in that Rom 8:1-2, St Paul said that there is no condemnation for them who are in Christ Jesus who work not according to the flesh. So the criterion for not being condemned is not just being in Christ but also making sure that you do not work according to the flesh! If a soul is in Christ and still works according to the flesh, it may die in sin. According to 1 John 5:14-17 that soul may have deadly sin (i.e. mortal sin) or non-deadly sin (i.e. venial sin). If the soul died with mortal sin, it is qualified for hell. NOTE: I am not saying the suffering and death of Jesus is not complete in itself. No. I am only saying that you have a role to play. The salvation which Jesus brought for us is not obtained by lazy wishful thinking. My friend, don’t deceive yourself by claiming that Jesus has taken care of your current and future sins. You need to wake up. Even St Paul knew that Jesus has died once and for all. He knew that the salvation of Jesus was complete! Yet he says in Philippians 2:12 “Work out your salvation in fear and trembling”. Ask yourself why St. Paul said this. Why? It is because the salvation that came from Jesus is as complete as a football stadium which is ready for world cup. The stadium is ready alright but you must buy ticket for your gate pass. Your team must qualify before they can play on the world cup stadium. Some teams will be disqualified even before the world cup. Some will be eliminated before the finals etc. But, all that does not mean that the stadium is not complete and well furnished. The stadium remains complete and adequate, but teams still have suffer and struggle to qualify and enter that well prepared stadium. This stadium analogy is what our salvation looks like. Jesus suffered and brought us complete salvation and opened heaven for us. But we must co-operate in order to qualify for heaven. From 1 Cor 9:24-27 and Col 2:24 we see clear evidence that St Paul was even afraid, that if he doesn’t co-operate, he might lose his soul even though Jesus used him to preach salvation to us. If St. Paul was that scared, why should souls fool themselves with fake self-assurance of salvation, when they are morally lazy and carnal? |

Hier: I think what he is trying to say is ur belief is what saves u and not ur act of righteousness because it is like filty rags. If u believe Jesus is the son of God and he died for ur sins is most important.(ur Faith) No human can be perfect by himself unless u want to deceive urself. However Ure not ment to continue in sin at will cos that will go against what u believe bt if u sin u can always repent. The illusion that u can be perfect by ur works is similar to the illusion that when u sin u won’t make heaven when what really would matter is ur faith. The only issue is continuous willful sin can affect ur belief and faith and that why u need to repent and try not to sin. It can also get u into unnecessary troubles also bt u can not loose heaven if u believe and have faith in him. 1 Like |

As for Luke 9:62 it speaks of someone who haven received the knowledge of God turning around and rejecting it. jaxxy: Here's someone who understands the gospel here. These people who say one can lose his salvation are just plain liars. The moment you believe in Jesus, you hey saved and immediately receive the gift of eternal life which means an everlasting life without end. What these liars are saying is that once you sin, you lose that salvation which means you have lost the gift of eternal life. If you can lose that eternal life, then was it ever eternal or everlasting? See what John wrote below. He said we already have eternal life for believing in Jesus. He didn't say we will have, he said we HAVE eternal life for believing in Jesus. 1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 Like |

alBHAGDADI: LIAR!!! Philippians 2 vs 12 Paul to the Christians in Philippians: Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling... If their salvation was already assured why do they need to work it out...and in FEAR AND TREMBLING? Your pastor is leading you to hell. He wants you to continue committing sin with the false assurance that you can't go to hell. That's the devil's doctrine. Shake it off. |

CharlieMaria: You all just love to parrot "work out your salvation" without understanding what the passage is saying. You all are blinded to think it means you should go and save yourselves. Then why did Jesus die? They have used the "work out your salvation" to deceive you. You do not know what the Bible verse is saying. Read it below to see that it is not saying you should go and save yourself. Philippians 2:12-13 12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. When you go to the gym, what do you say you are doing? You say you are working out your muscles. Working it out means you already have it but you just want it to be more pronounced so you work it out. God put muscles in you when he created you. But because you want to look like a body builder, you decided to work it out by hitting the gym. Same thing with salvation. God has put salvation in you and wants you to make it pronounced by working it out i.e showing it off to the world. This will make others also get attracted to want to have a change of heart and follow God too, same way your friends will be motivated to hit the gym just to look awesome when they see your good looks. Now go back and read the passage to see how it clearly fits my explanation |

alBHAGDADI: Lol. You are not saved. The death of Christ actually bought you redemption. You are only saved when you get to heaven. There is a difference between an anticipated hope for salvation and actual salvation. A man answers the altar call today and next week he rapes and brutally murders a 6 year old girl and you say he'll get to heaven, have you gone nuts? Isn't it the same Bible that says that nothing unclean shall see God? Or maybe we define the word "unclean" differently. |
Re: If You Believe You Can Lose Your Salvation, Then You Have Called God A Liar by alBHAGDADI: 8:57pm On Dec 30, 2018 |
Take a look at all the verses below which speak and believing as the only criteria for eternal life. Show me which of them says you also have to stay away from sin. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. (Matthew 19:29) "I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields--and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life. (Mark 10:29-30) "I tell you the truth," Jesus said to them, "no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God will fail to receive many times as much in this age and, in the age to come, eternal life." (Luke 18:29-30) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." (John 3:36) "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. (John 5:24) And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. (John 6:39) For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:40) For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:2-3) For this is what the Lord has commanded us: "'I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'" When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. (Acts 13:47-48) The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 5:20-21) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23) Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. (2 Corinthians 5:1) The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. (Galatians 6: But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. (1 Timothy 1:16) Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. (1 Timothy 6:12) a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time, (Titus 1:2) he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:5-7) See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is what he promised us--even eternal life. (1 John 2:24-25) And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. (1 John 5:11-13) Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. (Jude 1:21) |

alBHAGDADI: You are mixing this up. Nobody is saved without the GRACE of God. Nobody can do any good works without the GRACE of God. So, if you reject evil and do good, it is God working with you and in you. You could reject his still small voice and cast a vote for the evil one, but you'd still need to work hard and be a good person if you want to see God in heaven. You guys just twist the Bible to make you happy or justify some bad habit. If truly it doesn't matter what you do, then you call Jesus Christ whom true Christians adore as God, a liar when he said man's judgement will be based on his good deeds. Remember that passage? "When I was hungry...when I was thirsty...when I was homeless...when I was in prison...," etc. |

alBHAGDADI: The only way u can loose ur salvation is if u lose ur faith it’s has nothing to do with if u sin or not. Even if u think in ur small mind u don’t sin at all. The Bible says we were born in sin so Ure a sinner by default. Only ur belief in Jesus Can save u Totally. The greatest men in the Bible all sinned even the ones who didn’t sin where born in sin they only survived because God judged them by their faith. |

5thElement: You are a confuses person. So if is until you get to heaven before you know you are saved when many verses say we already have eternal life just for believing in Jesus? 1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. Mind you, altar calls of today are fake, that's why people immediately return to sin and even worse. It is fake because the salvation they preach is the type you can lose, which is the counterfeit of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. As for unclean, Jesus Christ has taken upon himself our sins and has transfered his righteousness unto us. 1 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. The true gospel is so sweet and a good news because it states that even if you do no works of righteous but you believe in Jesus, you still will make heaven because your faith in God has made you righteous. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. |

Will I still make heaven if I die the following day without repenting? Maybe you don't realize that you have to carry your cross and follow Jesus of you claim to be his disciple. I guess that's not a part of your Gospel. |

This is why I hate reading religious thread on nairaland because they are all laced with a lot of confusing ideas. To the OP! All the bible verses you quoted is open to different interpretations by different people so there is no need imposing your interpretation of those bible verses on us. Let everybody read his or her bible individually and believe whatever the holy spirit reveals to them concerning it. Simple |

Bt ur Faith is what u must guard. Being an evil doer can destroy ur faith off course. Its believing bt not believing anymore. Working on ur salvation is continuous process bt that in no way makes u perfect because u will sin. |
Re: If You Believe You Can Lose Your Salvation, Then You Have Called God A Liar by Nobody: 9:24pm On Dec 30, 2018 |
vislabraye: Actually this argument is moot. God doesn't change his mind about anybody. His love for all is constant. It is left for the human to accept it or reject it. Christians see hell as a place where people who don't want to go to hell are kept against their will. Rather, people who go to hell freely choose to go there. |
Re: If You Believe You Can Lose Your Salvation, Then You Have Called God A Liar by Nobody: 9:28pm On Dec 30, 2018 |
jaxxy: That is why Paul said to work out our salvation in FEAR and TREMBLING because it isn't sure. That you are a Christian doesn't mean you will get to heaven. The road to hell is paved with the skulls of many so-called pastors and priests and Christians. Christ's death brought redemption for all. But only a few will be saved. Indeed, many are called (Christians) but few are chosen (the saved). |

5thElement: Doubt is different from losing faith. John the Baptist had doubts that's why he sent his disciples to ask Jesus if he is truly the Messiah, same John who baptized Jesus, saw the Holy Spirit descend on him and a voice proclaiming him to be the son of God. No man is holy, not one. Romans 3:10-12 10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; 11 no one understands; no one seeks for God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” |

enilove: You need to understand the meaning of what the bible is saying there. it is not referring to physical sight because the Kingdom of God isn't physical. It is by divine revelation! And you are qualified to to this revelation by being born again. The scripture made it clear that a carnal man cannot understand the things of the Spirit because there are spiritual discerned and that is not what John 3:3 is pointing at. It is a man who has been spiritually enlightened that becomes born again and by that he can see the kingdom because the Spirit resides in him. This those not negate OP write up in anyway.
