The market is in the incubator stage once again. I see a better 2919.

The battle of who win the market is still ongoing.
More like Uber is ready to win this time by giving the driver partners what they want and also giving the rider what they want.

As for the injection of more cars. How I wish you know number of cars that leave the platform monthly. 80% of people you see at the inspection Center are old drivers switching partners.

This is 2019. Riders base is increasing. Just like some people can not do without danfo and brt. Riders are used to Uber/Taxify. It's now their pain. Though, riders now plan their trips. Some jump bus or brt half way then order uber/Taxify.

As a driver you need to do all you can not to loose your uber and Taxify account. Both have their good and bad side. No app is better than the other. Be loyal to your pocket.
You one experienced old head in this ehailing business sir. You really know your onions.

Frankly speaking this thread is losing its main reason of creating it .I follow other threads on nairaland and it's rare to see people abuse and throw insult like this uber forum does. People respect each other's opinion without insulting them . Poor communication is killing this thread thereby keeping reasonable people who might make a genuine input to stay off .Gradually I see with time, this thread will pack up as no one wants to express himself and get insulted for it .Experience is no more shared rather we share insult.
Let's communicate better so New entrant in the business can hv a good start cos for me and my household we are on d fence . Happy New Year to all.

With all due respect Madam, you were very active and instrumental in making this thread what it has become according to you. Save you have turned a new leaf, one cannot easily forget how you dish out insults without recourse to decorum on this thread (though I'd admit you were provoked in some instances).

I know of 3 drivers that bought a car in 2018. 2 bought toks. one bought Registered. As we speak, it's only the one that bought Registered matrix that visit workshop less.

The muscle didn't even work in December because he got tired. The corolla has been withdrawn on the platform.

What do you to say to that?

The toks probably were not in good conditions

Why is Taxify Taxiscam like this?
Did a surge trip of about 2.0x on 26/12/2018 from college road, Ogba to Elegushi beach and the fare came out as 13k+ something. Card trip. They kept the fare under review until today only for them to release 8,500 as the reviewed fare.
Why are they keeping surge if they know they won't let the driver benefit from it.
Next time when I see taxiscam surge, I know what to do

Last year partners invested heavily in very sharp tokumbor cars (corrolas, camry, Yaris, matrix), after a lot of disappointment, most of them sold off or converted to personal use.

Now you do not have as many Sharp cars on the market, a lot of rundown looking cars, and the reliable insurance companies have pulled out support for Ehailing because of the loss the encountered last year.

this thread is a small reflection of what is happening out there, between Dec an now, I know 5 driver owners who have parked their cars in search of rental.

It is not easy to maintain a car on lagos roads. It is expensive.

The rate at which cars are being pulled out and the rate at which they are coming in would cancel out, just that you will see a surge of dead cars on the road, only on weekends will you see a lot of Sharp looking cars. I am a heavy user of Uber and as long as the fares are this cheap, do not expect any miracles any time soon.

January has six weeks no matter who you are, so tight ya seatbelt.
wow this is really helpful. thanks

What is the future of this Taxify/Uber business? Is there room for growth and expansion? Won't this market be saturated in the nearest future?
For those already in this business, how do you ensure that you continue to make money even with the challenges that this business portends?
I am still trying to find my bearing here in Ibadan since I am only doing this part time though I try to work full time most weekends when i am free.

The business can't be profitable in Ibadan for now due to the lack of high profile companies in Ibadan, Lagos drivers are still struggling to survive in the business due to saturation of drivers in the e-hailing.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let have a minute silence for 8.8m that is about to go inside the drain. embarassed embarassed cry cry embarassed lipsrsealed embarassed

*******************************

You don't need to dissuade him, just ask him to first start with a car.

He should monitor and observe his investment for 6 months, if he thinks it is worth it, he should proceed by buying the other 3 cars to start his fleet management on e-hailing.

He can do a Fixed Deposit or buy Treasury Bill of 6 months with the remaining balance that's left for the other 3 cars.

*******************************

Better still, since you're part of the system already, do a cash-flow analysis vis-in-vis return on investment vs cost of maintenance, fleet management fee, etc.

If after all these he still want to proceed, well maybe your friend just received his dividend of democracy money and doesn't know how to spend it. grin grin grin

One of the things that pisses me off on this job has started this 2019.
Got a request at Ebute Meta, called the rider to confirm her location, fortunately the pickup location was wrong, buh was able to get to her pickup location, got there called this babe that am here, she said okay am coming, 15min later still called again she said she's on her way down, it took her another 10min to get to me, okay I started trip, was on my way she started grumbling that I should drive faster that shes late, lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed I was angered by that but I kept quiet and increased my speed a little from steady 80 to 90-100km. We finally got to her destination only for her to call the man that she came to see that she's here, the man told her to give him 10min his coming, we were inside the car for 30min waiting, this young lady could not even say sorry for the wait/delay

It's high time I start telling this people my mind.

If I inspect a car for someone. I will advice the person not to buy above xyz amount based on the condition of the car.

If you didn't help your client to bargain. You will always get a blame. Your client truth your judgement that's why they didn't mind to pay the 20k.
