my dear the truth is that some buildings have expired and need not just to be demolished immediately but also rebuilt.

But thier Engineering policy on building is the poorest I've ever seen

Compliance is a big problem too. People just put more floors on top an original bungalow. No way it will not crumble despite "foundation re-enforcement" self-styled civil engineers or artisans claim to do. Building rules and regulations must be fully enforced.

Lagos State could work with Ogun state to relocate around 2 to 3 million people say over 5 years or so. Too many areas are too bad and too many people have no business being in Lagos. Many houses need to go and large areas flattened and rebuilt with modern infrastructure and jobs. It will cost lots of money though.
