PoliticalWitch: Of course. Everytime PDP wins it is fair judgement. When APC wins it is a miscarriage of justice. |

Wuzyurdaddy: What do you mean? Worldwide, courts don't fund their own buildings (it's up to the other arms to approve budgets for such). Similarly, judges are nominated by the executive and confirmed by the legislative... definitely influenced, though should be independent. |

The Industrial Court ought to be a Specialized Court, with the Judges being versed in Labour and industrial laws, but unfortunately we seen instances where Judge overlooked some technical matters, yet passed judgement just like that.Today, many big Corporations have turned Nigerians to slaves and the Courts are looking the other way.For example, where a Company has made it mandatory to set up a Staff Disciplinary Committee, yet Staff are not called to such an all important Committee,a Judge shouldn't look the other way in favour of the Corporation no matter the gravity of the offence, for even in Criminal matters, the accused is given the benefits of doubt. Our Lord Justice should say judgement as it is without fear or favour for us to build 'truth and Trust' in the Judiciary. -For instance-when was the Staff called for the Committee for interrogation, afterall, the Committee was supposed to be wise men of great repute? -By what methods was such communicated? -Where was the acknowledged copy of invitation by the Company to the Staff before punishment was sanctioned? These are technical -matters that Judges should be looking for.Of course, company can always present a 'yes man' who wants to protect their 'garri' to testify against the erring Staff. It is sad therefore for Staff to be punished when Corporations violate their own rules against Staff and Judges should be bold to deliver such against the Companies. |

Reno Omokri, the former Presidential aide, has mocked Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo over his reported threat to sue global search engine, Google Inc. He lampooned Osinbajo on Saturday after the Vice President wrote Google over ‘false allegations‘ made against him on a YouTube page. A video published on September 20 on the video-sharing site by Roots TV Nigeria alleged that Osinbajo “used” federal agencies under his supervision as vice president “to stack funds” for 2023 general elections. The allegation is based mainly on a claim made by Katch Ononuju, described in the report as a political analyst. But the vice president’s lawyers had said in the letter to Google that the report was untrue and defamatory. “The publication is undoubtedly a barefaced attempt to unfairly discredit and expose our client to contempt and ridicule in the eyes of right-thinking members of the society,” the lawyers said. The vice president demanded that Google remove or suspend the publication immediately or be ready for legal action. The letter was delivered to the Google office in Lagos. Reacting via a post on his Facebook page, Omokri wrote: “I use to think Pastor Osinbajo was very intelligent until he threatened to sue Google over a blogger‘s video. “You are a professor of law. Google is just a host! Where is their liability? Is Osinbajo overrated? “I never watched the video, but I understand it was also uploaded on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. “Will Osinbajo sue them too? Nothing has damaged the aura of intelligence around Osinbajo as his threat to sue Google. “Google’s turnover in a year is more than Nigeria’s annual budget. And Osinbajo wants to sue them for hosting a video? With people like these in charge, no wonder Nigeria is now owing P&ID $9 billion. |

PoliticalWitch: I don’t know where you got your information from. But UK courts & Judiciary is NOT independent of the Executive and the Monarch. From Appointment of Justices of the Supreme Court to the funding of the whole Judiciary - it trickles down from the Executives. No country in the world runs a totally independent Judiciary. E.g. Judiciary don’t make budgets... their budgetary allocations are determined by the Executives. Think along that line. |
