My apologies bro for not sending the pix on time.
I couldn't visit the site since then. I have attached the pix. We went back to the site and take a second look at it again whether to construct a penthouse. While we were considering that then we realized that the slab is very long inside up to the middle of the house and that we can shift the tank inside and then complete the roof. In that case, there won't be open space anymore and the house will be fully roofed. I hope this makes sense? If it does then the only question I need to seek answer to now will be the effect of having tank inside the roof that is not open and will that affect signal if I put dstv dish in the place too. Where there is no enough space after moving the tank inside for maintenance then I can buy 2 small tanks.

quote author=Excuzeme post=82697063]

Yes, snap the picture of that part of your house, where the Tank is currently seating, there are good people here who can help you sketch something that will beautify the place.
I did one of mine, myself, after seeing what was done elsewhere, it was not part of the original Arch drawing l got in the early stages. grin grin

Dont thank me o, l benefitted from here and l am determined to help others benefit, wherever and whenever l can offer FREE help.
One day, you will also remember to help others.

See, there are tons of knowledge hidden in the earlier pages of these thread.
Almost all questions anyone may have regarding to building has been answered but it requires patience to read through (some smart people have bookmarked all the important pages for themselves grin ) because there are also fights, arguments, insults and stuffs like that in-between, when disagreements occur. grin
You just have to filter it.

Hello good people.

If you plan to build a duplex in stages because the funds for the entire project is not yet available, how will you identify the various phases to ensure the integrity of the structure is not comprised?

Maybe a phase can be completed every 6 months - 1 year.

Thanks in advance.

The integrity won't be comprised because construction is in stages, setting out to foundation , blocking setting to upper floor, it is in stages , you can WhatsApp me on 09069193297 for construction

I know construction is in stages. What I want to know is what can I do to build a house to completion, but doing a project every 6-12 months?

Can exposed/untreated concrete and steel retain their strength for 12 months?

I'm thinking maybe..

Phase 1: DPC
... wait 6-12 months or until funds are ready
Phase 2: German floor and plumbing
... wait
Phase 3: 1st floor walls to lintel
... wait
Phase 4: Decking and plumbing
... wait
Phase 5: 2nd floor walls to lintel
... wait
Phase 6: Decking/roofing and plumbing
Phase 7: Windows and door
... wait
Phase 8: Electrical
... wait
Phase 9: Plastering
... wait
Phase 10: Tiling
... wait
Phase 11: Painting

Your post is confusing a bit!

let me try:
You can push the tank inside and completely roof it inside the building?
What you need to consider and provide for are:
- Create enough space for cleaning the tank, as time goes on.
- Ensure the new Roof lays properly on the old one, to prevent leakages.
- Ensure you use an automatic float switch to prevent water run-off on the roof floor. (and you dont need that special flooring anymore)
It makes a lot of sense.

On the issue of Dish?
consider:
- Dish needs to face OPEN SKY so it can recieve signals properly
- Dish cant be inside the roof. grin
- You will have to hang the dish outside the New roof, somehwere on the wall or any other place, where it can face the Satelite you are tracking.

Both issues (Tank and Dish) are unrelated, IMO, once you cover the space completely, you have to locate your dish outside the space.

Cheers.

Good morning my people, please let those in knowledge tell me wood requirements and roofsheet requirements(Aluminum: metrocopo or step tile) for a three bedroom house around Igbesa/Agbara. The side view, back view, front view and measurements are here stated. Thanks a lot. The type of woods and quantity as in 2x3 =? etc, including for noggin, and the roof sheet quantity is what I am asking for not the price, not the money it will take. Thanks.

I'm very glad you cautious of the integrity of these buildings elements in process of over prolonging (in phases) the construction activities. Most of building defects after commissioning are due to neglected factors such as this.

Work protection is very important in construction, substantial amount of efforts should be put into protecting works in progress otherwise resources, project integrity and value are in jeopardy.

That been said, what you need right now is a program of work, prepared by a certified builder with your cash flow duly consulted.

In addition, the break between phase 3(Its ground floor nt 1st floor) and phase 4 shouldn't be up to 12months, as your have highlighted those walls are going to be loading walls. Likewise 5&6. Anything longer than that, green growth starts to occur on ur block walls and it's bad to Finish a building with that because of aftermath defects.

A plaza would fit better, you have a chance of going vertical to makeup for the horizontal shortfall

GRADEXP2:
I plan to roof a single storey building (5-bedroom ensuite) and need rough idea of the total cost using steptile aluminium sheet.

I will also want to know if parapet (cast in-situ and not the precast type) is necessary other than for aesthetic - the advantages/disadvantages. Cost idea for that too will also be appreciated.

Cost for both roofing and parapet should be all encompassing...wood, nail, sheets, etc.
Thanks.
Asides aesthetics, a parapet is also
Good for security purposes. I think we have discussed all the advantages and disadvantages before.

While I do not have your drawing and don't know if you want to share it, you may spend between 800k-900k for woodwork and the cost of 0.55mm aluminium might be spending up to 1 million depending on the size of the building, the height of the roof, the location and quality you want.

You would not even get approval for a filling station if your access to the land is just about 10.6 metres (35ft).
A plaza might work with parking space upfront, and 2m to the fence
