Taba21: Photo: The Man Who Suggested The Name "BIAFRA" His Royal Highness Chief Frank Opigo Dawai 111, Amananaowei of Angiama was a statesman politician, educationist and a philanthropist. He graduated in 1953 as the first graduate of central/western Ijaw land who later served as Assistant Registrar, Student Union. In 1967 he became the administrator of Yenegoa Province of Biafra and the commissioner for rural development. "Biafra" , a name familiar with the Old eastern region and Igbos today was suggested by him. Chief Opigo gave Biafra (after the Bight of Biafra now Bonny) its name and the rest of the seceding eastern region adopted it. Biafra historical record would remain incomplete if this great Ijaw son is not remembered. http://biafranchronicle.com/2015/05/28/27th-of-may/ https://www.nairaland.com/2689230/photo-man-suggested-name-biafra 2 Likes

BoboNkiti19: If APC did not exist many people who are Governors today had no chance in PDP to ever become Governors. Not everyone is ungrateful like Ibo. People know how to look back and thank those who supported their time of need, and how to return the favor and lift them up. I know what I described is strange to you and your mind has no capacity to appreciate it....but if I say there will be war if Yoruba is not supported by North....you will effortlessly understand that. You prefer hostilities than bridge building. Nigerians are tired of hostile Ibo, you are going nowhere in 2023. 6 Likes 1 Share |

IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu have been using the agitation for Biafra as a subtle way to blackmail Nigeria. However, unlike the Core North and to some extent the S/West or the N/Delta, the S/East doesn't have the demographic or economic advantages to use as bargaining chips. kettykin: 1 Like 1 Share |

DMerciful: I think you already know the answer to the first part of your question. The second part is however untrue. Don't you remember the quit notice issued to Biafrans by Arewa last year? What happened? Did Igbo elders not go begging El-Rufai and other Northern Traditional rulers cap in hand to be allowed to stay in the North? Or have you been living under a rock? You really think your typically selfish & greedy Igbo elites whose investments are scattered all over Nigeria and enjoy juicy appointments and govt contracts will truly initiate any concrete moves towards breaking up the country and killing their golden goose? Wake up, nobody is holding you but yourselves. Above all, the fact is there are only 2 possible ways for Biafrans to secede from Nigeria. By diplomacy (legally through the national assembly) or war. Nobody will hand you a referendum/secession on a platter (which require majority votes from across Nigeria to amend the constitution to allow referendum), just like nobody will hand you the Presidency for free. Let that sink in. So while Nigerians may not like Biafrans due to their nature, it is false that they don't want them to go or are the ones stopping them from leaving. 1 Like 1 Share

So you take Arewa quit notice as official position of Nigerian government? I repeat, since Nigerians don't like Biafrans, they should be willing to do an act of national assembly for referendum. If it's not in the constitution, the national assembly can put it or do a doctrine of necessity QuotaSystem: |

DMerciful: Why do you like to think anyone owes you any favours? In return for your constant opposition? Don't you think they would be more willing to frustrate you instead if they so detest you? Can you now see why getting Biafra' seems increasingly more difficult by the day? Lol. Why would even expect someone you constantly antagonize to freely help in your struggle for freedom? Do you people just like to wallow in delusion or what? You must diplomatically seek the votes for amendment, seek it by force or forget secession & get ready to wail till thy kingdom come. 2 Likes |

Imagine a man that is tired of a marriage and the wife says she wants divorce, will the man frustrate her from getting the divorce if he is tired of her or accelerate the process? You know the truth that Nigerians are afraid to let the Igbos go cos that's the only thing keeping this country together ironically! QuotaSystem: |
