ifiokjohn: Ehehehehehe... I can relate to the reality ... most people in print find it difficult to grow... that is why they are in one place for years... "Multimedia" , (getting everything around it) is the way. You will even be hired as an expat anywhere in the world. Finally look beyond the locals... go to where you can network with international medias... there are opportunities once in a while. 1 Like |

Write WAEC again and go for nursing. Social media don take over Journalism and as for Law, is law really obeyed in the country? Read Nursing first degree and move to the USA ,Europe or Canada and be earning well. 1 Like |

writeprof: Nigeria it is! Go beyond print media... Multimedia is the way.. get all the necessary skills. And put your nose down to network. People in print media seldom grows. News producers, news correspondents, ability to film, news editing, you can acquire all. I remember telling a foster daughter how i don't want her to go to a university to read mass communication 2 years ago. I told her to go to school of journalism she first fumed at it.. but later she was thankful... You see studying mass communication is a waste of years.. when you can get all the skills and start working asap when you finish NIJ. How do you compete with a Journalism student or a public relations student... when you are stuck in between as a mass communication student. You will still need to go for either of these courses before you can honestly acquire a skill. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Law is very Lucrative and we'll well respected Discipline only if you are ready to go extra Ordinary mile and achieve excellent result. Meanwhile Journalism is a nice course which can lead you to become independent and an possibly an Entrepreneur. What you should watch out for here is the area your passion lies. 1 Like |

Pinkberry5: You have a lot of wrong misconceptions. No certificate is more valuable than the other cos they all contribute in making life meaningful. Its just like saying the eyes are more valuable than the hands or legs. You can only talk of which gives you better prospects and employability. 1 Like |

Worst is the one she despises has better chance of feeding her. She can take immediate appointment with a school to teach English/literature in secondary school, become classroom teacher in primary school or teach phonics. She might even further it to masters. 1 Like |

Pinkberry5: Law has more prospects no matter what. If for eg you are faced with unemployment after graduation, God forbid, you have more chances of survival as a lawyer than as a journalist... Moreover, with one or two little training as a lawyer, you can practice journalism after all. 2 Likes |

Pls study law. U can still end up as a journalist with a law degree and do many other things lawyers do. Lawyers have many sources of income. You don't have to do litigation if you don't like it and you may even get to like it. Law is not boring. People's report of a thing is not necessarily going to be your experience. No course is easy. Law is not an exception. Journalism would probably be more difficult for your person. Do you love to read interesting stories? You will come across many cases that are interesting in law and they will easily stay on your head. Do you love to give pieces of advice to people? Do you have passion for justice? Do you pay attention to details and like real professionalism? Law is for you. With law, you can start earning so well even without a job. If you really like journalism that much, you can be a journalist even from school while studying law and have your write-ups published. No one says you need a degree for that. I had a classmate who had a Ph.D in philosophy and had been into journalism since the days of his first degree in philosophy. Today, he is a lawyer and a journalist. He never studied journalism. He came back for law because law has a lot to offer. That explains why many come back for it even after 1 or 2 degrees. I studied law as a second first degree and I love law. Whatever you decide to do. Put in your best. All d best. 1 Like |
