But you're not in the united states are you?
RealTrump:

1. Stop putting blame on Trump adminstration. US Visas has always been laced with uncertainty. Canada n Australia hv always had a much clearer path for stay after schooling. So telling people that Canada is better than US... that's old news. U just came in last year, why didn't u go to Canada instead of US?

2. You paid a lot of money to school there. You hv a huge burden to succeed. And it is natural that any news that relates to bad immigration creates a huge burden for u. But I think u are beginning to pass your personal burden on other members of the group. To your credit, u had expressly said that people who are forking out a chunk of money should look elsewhere. Thumbs up.

3. Don't let these guys push u around. They don't have the man power to run that country and can NEVER shut the door on immigrants.

I know that as Nigerians we have personally ridiculed ourselves alot more than d whites ridiculed us.

Yes, maybe Nigeria is a shit hole. But Nigeria is that shit hole that can determine whether u will wake up n still be the world power tomorrow.

Nigerians should stop all these inferiority complex and start embracing the substantial amount of power we wield in the world politics. Americans hv d data, they know we too useful to them but in their immediate economy n on their grip on world power. Most of their African venture capital dollars is tied up in Nigeria, u really think they are stupid enough to close d doors?

The same country that banned u yesterday, basically appeased u with a check of $40M a week later n called it "humanitarian aid." That should tell u how important u are.

US has never been a place for non stem students. Aside this, relax, they can push us around but they can't push u too far...they hv a lot to lose too. UK tried but they came back begging with their tail between their legs. Also don't forget it's an election year, a lot of things will be political. Media houses probably don't like d guy n they will paint up stories. If u see d free money in assistantship, grab it!

Personally I have no qualms with Canada, I even applied to 3 schools there...but I don't just think I can tolerate any more cold.

It's a bumpy ride ahead, but hang on, nothing lasts forever.

Please do you know the best schools to apply for these programs?
electronic:

Try and write GRE for funding.....just try.
The opportunities are endless of you have a gooq quantitative score of atleast 160. Most of your people from india, Bangladesh have GRE/Toefl
Toefl score to above 100 is very important....
GRE will open the doors of scholarships

And yes one of the greatest skill you can have now is python programming...most professors need to see that in your CV

A lot have been said from different angles on whether people should continue with the US struggles or not. IMO, it should be a matter of individual perspective. If you have the experience and really want to help, you should give your advice and also back it up with your constructive arguments. Just giving instructions is not the right way to go about it. We are all educated adults here, even as parents, we should not just tell our kids what not to do, instead, we need to explain why they should not do them. The most annoying part is that a said individual even suggested that the thread should be closed. I think it would be better if you channel your energy on the Canada thread and advise aspirants how they can successfully get in. This is the internet era and even if most of us has not left the shores of Nigeria, we know countries with good immigration policies. We know about Canada and Australia. We also know how difficult it is to get full funding in Canada, how expensive Australia schools are and how tedious the Canada Visa process is.
I got an admission into University of Manitoba last year which also came with a scholarship worth almost 50% of the tuition. Very easy admission process, no English proficiency test, no GRE. I wrote the Dept whether there I can get an assistantship but it was all futile. Again I reviewed the Visa process and even though I got someone who wanted to put the $5400 CAD and the 1000CAD living expenses into my parents account, the fact that decision can take very long (sometimes even between 6months to 1year) made me think twice. I decided not to go ahead to apply for the Visa, mind you, I know even if I set my mind into it and with some money, I can get into Canada via another means which is PR or a work permit due to my profession- atleast 2 people around me did it at the time.
Most importantly, my dreams got bigger and I asked myself why I should even bother to pay a dime to get an international education. So I decided to write GRE and TOEFL and I have been on the journey since then and I trust God to perfect my efforts. Mind you, some of us are actually considering other things like our research area too which we might not get in other countries. Another reason I know why people consider US, especially those whose highest level of education is a Bachelor's is also because of the post-baccalaureate PhD that a lot of US schools offers. My point is we all have our different reasons for choosing a particular country for studies.
In summary, those who are giving advice should not be discouraged and they should please also back it up with cogent reasons. Prospective students here should also try to take their time to do their research, think about the pros and cons and make sure they have convinced themselves it will be worth it before going forward.

Good evening house
Please I have some urgent questions hoping if you can help me with some or all.
I am in the process of applying to UNT for Data Analytics, GRE is not required though .
1. Two Letter of recommendation is required , preferably at least one from an employer. I recently just started a new job and I do not want my employer to know that I plan on leaving . Please where can I get a letter from another organisation and must it have the company logo.

2. Concerning the new Visa ban , if someone eventually get a student visa. If the ban is still on after the person finishes studying , which I pray would not be so, can the person marry a citizen and not be affected by the ban since he would do change of status.

3. If after getting a student Visa, can a student defer his start date to another semester . I.e instead of August start January. And if he can ,
Would he need to do another interview again or would the Visa date just be changed after informing the school .

You don't need a format. Just email them that you're from Nigeria that the official language is English and that your degree was taught in English

Funny nobody in america has argued with me, it's always the know it alls who are in Nigeria

I’m in America and I think you’re not making sense.

Let people come and get the education they need. If they don’t get to stay in America an American education will still open several doors.

PS: In the end, it's America's loss. Free education and Stipend with their taxpayers' money, and then you send us out after working for one or three years. We use the certificate and work experience to move to Canada and then grow their economy. Do you think it will take them forever to figure out how disadvantaged that kind of arrangement is to them? Think about that for a minute.

Check top companies and top schools, a sizeable percentage of those running these establishments are immigrants. They know this and this is why they spend millions bringing people in every year. They want to keep innovating, their kids don't like school, so they spend millions bringing people like you and I over here every year.

Also everyone here that hasn't already, should research well on all these things, read experiences, google things you aren't sure of. That way you make your own decisions and all these posts here won't bother you. Be informed. Cos from the way some people are reacting to posts, it shows they haven't made enough research on all these.

No, it means you would pay a total of $8000 a year, probably $4000 for fall and $4000 for spring.

sorry to ask this question.

since the tuition is 8k per year and you have broken it down to be $4000 for fall and $4000 for spring (spring +fall = 1 session), what about the next session (next spring + next fall)? would i be paying another fall $8000?
