Sometime last week while on my way to Apapa from Trade Fair, I got stuck in traffic at Orile and within seconds something heart wrenching happened.

A commercial bus driver (an aged man) stopped briefly to drop a passenger in one of the new narrow speed lanes. Trust me, this didn't take him up to 15 seconds.

In commando style, two naval officers who were driving behind him in a civilian car jumped out of their vehicle, dragged him out of the bus and flogged him mercilessly with a leather whip while the old man knelt down wriggling in pain and screaming. How dare him delay them for 15 seconds. Worse was the fact that these guys didn't look above 30yrs.

I felt guilty for being so helpless at the man's agony.

Before you express your sympathy at whatever misfortune that may have befallen this guy, just think about the bus driver above and the multitude of Nigerians who have had same misfortune or even worse in the hands of other uniformed personnel.

R u actually putting up this ur story to justify his kidnapping or wat exactly is ur point?

Igbashal I know the cadet well enough i believe he should be a member of 66rc. We were in the same batallion then...

But I believe NNS victory would have sent signal to every ship and a man hunt should be going on for him ..... I believe he will be found alive. And for all those who have been posting how naval officer do brutalize civilians, dz isn't the right time for that owing to the fact that those ones might be impersonating and I doubt Igbashal was a job marshal or something during his days. I think he stays in zaria sef. He will be found insha allah
were you dismissed from Aca?
u type as if u re member of 65rc.

There was a video making the rounds, about a month ago, when about five of these NDA Cadets parked right in the middle of the Lagos Ibadan Express road bridge (after Toll gate), stopping all traffice and daring any "`bloody civilian" to come and challenge them.
These guys are under 30yrs of age as well, an average of 22yrs old!

It has been like this for a long time, whenever they release these cowards for holiday or after passing our, they begin to behave like animals.
While the missing Cadet (he is not yet an officer, until he finished fom NDA!) may not have partook in such idiocy, these bys and their officers must understand that harrassing and intimidating UNARMED Civilians, IS NOT a sign of bravery (we know many of them that saw boko haram and fled in all directions like chickens!), it is a sign of COWARDICE!
If the Civilians were also armed, can they trythe nonsense or do they think they are superman/
I wish he was found and recovered byt honestly, it is difficult to say any prayer for these little, untrained cowards in the NDA

not all of em abeg...besyds he is commissioned already.he isnt a cadet anymore..

The photo they used, was that of a cadet, so l am righ tin assuming it is a current photo and he is a Cadet.

Also, you are right that "not all of them" but when a MAJORITY of a group behave in a most despicable way and actlike they are above the Constitution, just because they wear military Uniform, it is correct ot statistically generalise same on the whole population!

When America imposes Visa sanctions on Nigerians, is it all nigerians that are guilty?
When Westerners say Nigerians are corrupt, is it all Nigerians that are corrupt?

If Nigerian Military Personnel want Respect, they should learn to Respect Unarmed Civilians as well and treat them with courtesy.
Just look at how Americans and Brits respect their own military personnel...... Have you ever seen A US Army brutalizing an unarmed civilian before? How would they not respect such officers and soldiers, for their service to the nation?
Our own armed personnel want respect through intimidation and harrassment. It wont work that way.

I challenge the "good ones" among them to always confront and stop the cowards among them when they see them brutalizing unarmed Civilians, if we see that happening, then we will know and agree that it is not all of them but we have never seen that happen!
look at the most recent one that happened today:

You see why some of us cant/wont show any sympathy for these over-rated morons who behave like they are aboved the law? undecided

Why a grown up like you will buy data, charge your phone then come on NL to spill gibberish is still a puzzle yet to solve.
The Navy officer missing, is he the same Navy officer's that misbehaved in Lagos ? If your story is even true.
Grow up pls

Sorry to bust your bubble but brutality from armed forces in this country has become the norm. Personally, I hope he never gets seen and if he does, he should be hanging from his balls at a height of 30 feet.

I wish I could feel sorry for him, but armed forces and police have been so brutal and inhumane to civilians that I can only shrug my shoulders.

This is a pity, that I don't feel anything for a fellow human, because of what his uniform represents.

Correct!!!

Personally, news of them getting killed in the most brutal circumstances fills me with joy. If you have ever been drilled wrongly by these cowards in uniform, you will realize Nigeria has no Armed Forces...at best, they are glorified touts. See how Chad did in six days what they can't do in over 12 years inspire of all the billions of naira.

When they see militant terrorists, the cowards claim to be under equipped. Na for defenseless civilians dem power reach. Pussycats wey dey form lion.

If the guns laws are relaxed, una go pack well. Nonsense.
Re: David Igbashal Missing: Naval Officer Ran Into Gunmen At Umuchi Ngbo, Enugu by harakiri(m): 3:01pm On Apr 13, 2020
Furthermore, most (if not ALL) armed personnel in Nigeria today enlisted for reasons NOT connected with protecting their motherland e.g unemployment, gun protection, means to oppress, etc and they got in through money, godfathers, etc. How can you expect loyalty and discipline from such beasts? Look at how they torture and kill cos of covid 19? Na so oyibo teach una? Look at those cowards posting videos threatening to rape mothers, wives, etc.

Do such animals deserve respect? They want to be feared NOT respected. How many of these cowards would voluntarily enlist to fight Boko Haram? None!!!

Thank God you are not God.
Why wish your fellow being evil? Because his colleagues perpetrate evil, he should be cast away too? Do you know the sacrifice they are doing? You clearly have no iota of idea. You don't know. You sit at the comfort of your home while they're people in thick bushes keeping together this nation but what do you wish them in return? Evil. Smh.

You are either a sympathetic force man or you have never fallen victim to their senseless brutality... And by the way, my family is stuffed with almost every force you can think off so I think a know a WHOLE lot about what I am talking about. Your sympathy for them is the same as the pity I used to have to robbers facing an angry mob till I got robbed!!!

We have no armed forces Oga...if Nigeria goes to war with Ghana today, they will be woefully defeated. We are no longer giant of Africa and the forces today are nothing like the ECOMOG troops of yesterdays.

All these timberland wearing boy scouts are interested in is monthly alert, latest peppersoup joints and impregnating girls up and down like its going out of fashion.

Tell me I'm wrong! Just see so many embarrassing pictures of Book Haram humiliating them, tying them up like rams!!!
