Personally open plans are my favourite kind of plans..

All rooms doesn't HV to be ensuite and the kitchen doesn't always HV to be hidden

But with the kind of food we cook in Nigeria, the smell may be disturbing. Our authentic Naija has to smell.
That is the only problem I have with open floor style and without linking the open kitchen, there is no open floor.

Hello Hajji. I've lived continuously in my BQ now for over a year now and it has an open floorpan. There hasn't been one day that I smelt the food that Hajia is cooking in the kitchen in any other part of the house (at least in an overwhelming manner). And it's a small house. And we don't even have an exhaust fan.

I think we overestimate the issue.

You must be kidding. I live in a semi open floor here, and you can smell food all over livingroom and even the bedrooms. You must be cooking Oyinbo food o.
My house is a living example. I wish I can say otherwise.

I go gaga when I see them on HGTV.
