Oyedepo should go and construct his own country if he's not happy with the law of CAMA.. He's not happy because govt. will monitor his "419 church business".. He has been hiding in isolation since the coming of Covid 19... Anyway, he still has the support of some brainwashed sheeps..

Christians who attacks Oyedepo are traitors . Oyedepo concerns is for us all as kingdom people.
Too many traitors among Nigerian Christians. That's the singular reason Muslims will shove anything down our throats and we'll swallow... because we don't speak with one voice!

MR MAN , I ASK DOES THE LAWS IN US AND UK REMOVES THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF CHURCH WITHOUT A RECOURSE TO THE COURT? THIS LAWS EXEMPT THE MUSLIMS, WHY IS NIGERIAN LAW BEING SO DICTATORIAL WITHOUT A COURT PROCESS. IF YOU MUST KNOW, CHARITY ORGANISATION OF UK HAS INVESTIGATED WORLD MISSION AGENCY, AND FOUND OUT THE ORGANISATION IS A TRANSPARENT AND INTERGRITY. HE HAS NOTING TO HIDE. THE POWER SHOULD NOT BE VESTED ON AN APPOINTED OFFICER OR A MINSTER, BUT ON THE COURT. THAT IS WHAT WE ARE SAYIN
the minister is to enforce the law just like police , but if you feel cheated you can approach the Court.
Secondly, this law doesn't exempt the mosqued.
Also,if the government is to provide security, lights, road, water, land, etc for the church and mosques why won't the government be allowed to regulate the activities of those organizations?

Almost the same way Bishop Oyedepo attacked the people, even cursing with Bible.
You can’t attack the tissue and not expect it to bleed.

There are clever ways he could have attacked the issue.

This is a democratic setting, the CAMA law should at least give the NGOs the privilege to fair hearing even in court and not that autocratic way of removing the trustees

I've never heard of a situation where a regulator seeks the order of a court to perform it's duties.
The church can petition the NASS if they are opposed to certain elements of the CAMA act now signed into law.

Buhari has no executive right to suspend or cause the law to be changed or modified without legislative process.

Registration differs from regulation!!!

If you catch any of them laundering money then it becomes a crime then call the person for questioning

Simple!!!

If a board of trustees is suspected of mismanagement fraud or in public interest it can be suspended and an examiner appointed by the regulator to oversee the affairs until such a time when the NGO is in good standing. That is the norm in any part of the world.

The law doesn't know if the subject is a church mosque or orphanage. All it sees is an NGO exempt from taxes registered with the CAC which shall be compliant to the regulations as stated by the respective laws failing that the regulator has a duty to the public to take reasonable action as specified by said laws.

Why are we complicating a simple matter

Only a foolish christain will support CAMA,how many accounts of government parastatals has been made corruption cleansed, the government can't set up each Religion like CAN to regulate itself but want to do so in a religion sensitive Nigeria.
What moral justification is the government even having when it comes to transparency, obeying the rule of law.

To catch them their finance need to be regularly audited and monitored, and if need be the board of trustees and managers would be suspended and an interim managers enacted. That's all the new Cama act seeks to implement, a mechanism to check corruption and other fraudulent financial activities

The writer of this article is mischievous in my opinion. I am a neutral person here. There is no where that the law says that the board ot trustee of an I.T can be removed without recourse to the court of law. Please let us try to be reading and not always swallowing everything and just making comments anyhow. Attached is a screenshot of the controversal section of the law. Thanks

We Christians are the ones sensationalizing the issue, the removal of trustees is even based on misconduct or fraudulent issues so the questions is are there current fraudulent practices going on in our churches that are being covered up? I don't understand

I just think some of our Christian leaders just want to avoid accountability at all cost

These men know that most people don't read. This thing is quite glaring. How can someone just be weeping up sentiments and staring controversy by saying that the government can just wake up and remove the trustees of an I.T?
The processes is that 1/5 of the trustees will even have to be the ones to make the report or the cac to the court and the matter will be heard and determined by the court.
Wether justice is served or not is another matter altogether.
But for someone to use any platform to say that the government will just wake up and just suspend the trustees and put an interim one without recourse to the law is what beats my imagination. The process is quite clear please. Let us try to be reading.
I see people commenting without even reading the law, but based on what they hear these men say.
How can someone of the calibre of the writer write this kind of article?

Absolutely, but one angle I haven't heard been put out is how did it get to this stage before we start raising our voices. I mean ain't there Christians in our National Assembly? How did this scale all the stages and readings without it getting any media attention?

I heard it was smuggled into it through backyard. They didn't follow due process through the house

No way! Ain't there Christians there? If we don't have a single Christian Senator/Rep who could sound the alarm, then who are all those who gather from Ota to Mowe to Glory Dome etc I agree with what a certain cleric said; CAN failed in it's oversight of such matters! Is there any matter that get past MURIC? The Christian body needs to be more proactive abeg not this reactionary stance they have come to be known with!

What most people don't know about Politics is that there is no worshiper of God practicing Politics, because Politics is a religion on it's own and for your information it's the last religion that will bring all worshipers of Satan against God's people.

So don't think politicians are working for any religion, as long as you make yourself useful for Politics you can't have anything to do with God! smiley
