..I hate to be in the same plane with Nigerians mostly women and especially Nigerian Christians.

Even if you have faith their shout will kill you faith. The shout alone can distract the pilot.

Matthew 8:23-27 New Century Version (NCV)
Jesus got into a boat, and his followers went with him. A great storm arose on the lake so that waves covered the boat, but Jesus was sleeping. His followers went to him and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We will drown!” Jesus answered, “Why are you afraid?

It is better imagined.😅

Even normal turbulence alone dey make my imagination go wild, with my heart racing very fast, as a frequent watcher of Aeroplane mishap videos on YouTube wey i be. 😁

Well, I sleep most of any flight anyways. My normal routine... once the plane begin to move, I pray, once the plane is airbourne and stable, I position myself to sleep with my ears plugged and face covered, I only wake up to eat, see a movie until sleep comes calling again. I no get time to dey raise my blood pressure unnecessarily. grin

Very interesting debate going on here. So refreshing to read the views.

Full Disclosure: I 100% supported the defunct “Rwanda Scheme”.

Even the people who came up with/ostensibly had within their policy the so-called Rwanda scheme didn't support it. Neither Boris nor Mary nor Rishi intended to put anyone on a plane at any time. Had they so intended they would have done so.

Thank God for hearing their prayers. Reason why we got no bad news about a plane crash recently.

Plus, this should be a source of big lessons for greedy Nigerians helping to keep this country down in order to gain wealth. Without God, just a little thing can make you lose all that wealth to another person.

This message is NOT only for the wicked politicians BUT also for their enablers, including here on Nairaland. It includes those using protests as an opportunity to steal from fellow struggling countrymen.

When death knocks, the only value that will be left for you are your good deeds.

Please get on the plane to the US, you might not know what is over here for you until you get in, you can reach out to professors right there instead of sending emails. Don't keep wasting your chances. You are one lucky fellow.

Good evening yall . I was supposed to be travelling this Fall after obtaining my F-1 visa since April. Unfortunately, the fund I was supposed to be working with was withdrawn from my PI. I could no longer proceed as I don’t want to go and constitute nuisance in the US (I don’t have money to sponsor myself). Note that this is my second time of not being able to use an F-1 visa as I couldn’t use the first one issued in January cuz I was sick and hospitalized completely.

I just want an honest opinion as I’m about to give up completely on US Schools...how do you all feel about this? I wish to apply for another admission and proceed to get a new visa..do you think the VO will think I’m not serious? What do you feel about this? If you were the VO, will you take this kind of person seriously?

Travel / Nigerian Family Faces Deportation From Canada Over Fake Admission Letter by ShoeGetSize: 3:28pm On Aug 03
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has asked Nigerian student Lola Akinlade to leave the country over a fake acceptance letter she used to obtain a study visa and work permit.

Akinlade, who graduated with a diploma in Social Services from Nova Scotia Community College in 2019, shared her bitter experience with CBC News on Thursday.

According to her, she was unaware that the acceptance letter provided by an agent for the University of Regina in 2016 was fake until she was contacted by the IRCC a few weeks before her graduation from her new institution.

The mother of two noted that while receiving her diploma, she felt both happiness and worry upon realising that she had allegedly relied on a fraudulent document to secure her study permit, adding, “I was devastated. That was the beginning of my trauma.”

In an interview with the Canadian news platform, she said, “When the IRCC contacted me, I requested them to re-examine my case, arguing that I was a victim of a ‘rogue agent’ who supplied me with a fake acceptance letter to the Canadian school.

“Please review my file. I just want this to be resolved.”

Akinlade stated that the process of moving to travel to and study in Canada started in 2015 while she was working as a medical sales representative at a pharmaceutical company in Lagos, with a business administration degree from a Nigerian university.

She recounted meeting a man at her office who claimed to be an immigration consultant and offered to guide her through the process of becoming an international student by applying for a master’s degree in business administration.

Akinlade explained that she did not specify a particular university to the agent, only stating that she wanted to study at a reputable Canadian institution.

She described how she provided the agent with documents such as her passport and university transcripts, along with payment. Several months later, he provided her with a study permit for Canada, plane tickets, and an acceptance letter from the University of Regina.

“I flew to Canada in late December 2016, expecting to start classes in January 2017. However, I was stopped in Winnipeg en route to Regina when I received a call from the agent, who told me there were no spaces available at the university and that I would have to go on a waitlist.

Upon arriving in Canada, she began searching independently for a new school and programme and stayed with relatives in Winnipeg until she was accepted at Nova Scotia Community College for social services, starting in September 2017.

She said she chose social services because it better aligned with her previous work in the medical field.

Akinlade stated that she did not contact the University of Regina directly until two years later, when she received a letter from the IRCC informing her that the acceptance letter was fake.

“I was sceptical after receiving the IRCC letter, thinking it might be a misunderstanding or something,” she said. “So, I immediately contacted the University of Regina.

“And that was when I learned the truth,” she added.

Meanwhile, when CBC contacted the agent, Babatunde Isiaq Adegoke, he confirmed providing Akinlade with the acceptance letter but said it was supplied by a company located in Ejigbo, Lagos State, called Success Academy Education Consult, which he had hired.

CBC exchanged text messages with Adegoke, who stated that he guided Akinlade through the process of applying to enter Canada. However, he denied telling Akinlade that she would have to go on a waitlist at the University of Regina.

Akinlade lost her study permit in Canada due to a fake letter and was denied when she attempted to apply for a postgraduate work permit and a temporary resident permit.

In March 2023, an IRCC officer wrote to Akinlade, stating that the department believed she knew the document was fake “on the balance of probabilities.”

Her husband, Samson Akinlade, and their eight-year-old Nigerian-born son, David, joined her in Nova Scotia in 2018 but have now lost their temporary resident status. Their younger son, born in Canada in 2021, has Canadian citizenship but lacks medical coverage due to his parents’ status.

“We’ve been surviving on our savings, and I don’t know how long we can continue doing that,” she said. “It’s really, really hard,” she added.

One year today I left Nigeria. I won't lie even though my research was solid, I was still very scared. I remember when the plane crossed the Andes mountains and the pilot mentioned they were landing in Santiago in 40 minutes I was super scared. My mind was like this isn't Google, reddit, wikipedia or the economist. This is real life. A place with hardly any Nigerians or anyone. No one speaks English.

A year later, I am proud to say coming here was the second best decision I have made in my entire life. Men, I will always bet on myself always. Men in this life, whatever comes to your mind go and do it. It's better to do it and fail than to not do it at all. I don't even believe in failure. It's a social construct. The real failure in life is not doing or taking any action at all.

I believe even if I came here and it didn't work out in anyway for me, I would still have had the experience of at least knowing another country, making friends and also knowing a new language. But men I have found everything I want here. I have friends, I have girls, I have good jobs. I have everything everything I want or need

Congratulations to you

Govt needs to do more to encourage the airline industry, the companies are struggling with debts due to naira devaluaition , increased cost of operation caused by corruption and poor services.

We need local solutions to our air travel, it does not make sense using an intercontinetal plane for local travel, why not use smaller aircraft that are more practical to run like turbo props. Why use a jet for a 800kn trip some thing a vehicle can cover in 5 hrs if we had good roads.

Why cant they use smaller crafts, some of these planes run empty at times yet incur fixed costs.

Why not use locally trained pilots and pay them in Naira.

They need to buy and own their own craft, the lease arrangment is no longer sustainable given the forex challenges.

This has nothing to do with Nigeria, it's an individual business and president Tinubu shouldn't have given that position to Keyamo who is now using it for pady-pady. I think Keyamo should be fired for even entertaining this thought. British don't want a plane that may have to be towed or need a jump in their best airport. Nigeria just can't put his integrity behind an unstable tribal bigots who are known to cut corners and lie like there's no tomorrow. Airpeace is a private business and should be treated as such. Yoruba have been more than magnanimous with the way they worked to allow their planes to enter London and land in Gatwick, a Yoruba man's airport. All we've been hearing since then is one complain after another to cover up incompetency. Who is even checking to ensure the planes being flown by these pathological liars are safe to transport human? British airways has more than pay its dues and deserves to land in the best places in Nigeria, first let airpeace work its own way to 1% of that.
COMPAQ:

Let's see if the Nigerian government has the balls to restrict BA from MMIA if they do not give us Heathrow.

Airport slots is heavy international politics though. Slots will not be kept idle for you. If your country has no airline, of course the slot will be given to someone else and they will not want to release it now .

Three members of the US family gospel group the Nelons have been killed in a plane crash, their management announced.

Jason Clark, Kelly Nelon Clark and their daughter Amber Kistler died on Friday while taking a flight to perform on a cruise ship.

Seven people died in the crash in north-east Wyoming, including Kistler’s husband, Nathan.

The Campbell county Facebook page said the crash happened at about 1pm north of the town of Gillette and sparked a wildfire.

On Instagram, the Gaither Management Group wrote: “One of the best loved gospel music families in America, the Nelons were involved in a tragic, fatal plane crash on Friday afternoon on their way to join the Gaither Homecoming cruise to Alaska.

“Killed in the crash were Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, Amber and Nathan Kistler and their assistant, Melodi Hodges, along with the pilot, Larry Haynie and his wife, Melissa.”

In a separate statement, a National Transportation Safety Board spokesperson said preliminary information indicated the plane crashed following an “autopilot issue during flight”. The agency had sent a team of investigators to the site for further examination, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson added that a preliminary report on the crash was expected in about 30 days. A final report with the probable cause of the crash could take up to two years to complete.

The youngest daughter of the Clarks, Autumn Nelon Streetman, was not on the plane and said: “As many of you have heard by now, my father and mother, Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, along with my sister, Amber, and brother-in-law, Nathan, as well as our dear friends Melodi Hodges, Larry and Melissa Haynie, were involved in a tragic plane crash on Friday.

“Thank you for the prayers that have been extended already to me, my husband, Jamie, and our soon-to-be-born baby boy, as well as Jason’s parents, Dan and Linda Clark. We appreciate your continued prayers, love and support as we navigate the coming days.”

According to the Gaither Management Group, Streetman was told of the crash in Seattle and “brought to the hotel where artists were gathered with Bill and Gloria Gaither to pray, sing and embrace them in their grief, pledging to support them in whatever needs arise”.
