Some people don't read 😒. In the email, did you see anything about school certificates or statement of results? Biko go and read
Lol. Better go there with it
I just confirmed that'll be needed, along side your NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter.
Besides it's alluded to in the mail, I just hadn't gotten the mail then, just the SMS

*WITH PROOF OF COMPLETION*

Maybe you need to do a bit of reading yourself don't you think?

Contango:

Lol, I won’t blame them.

I’ve gone for an exam before only to be asked for my secondary school certificate out of the blues. I was like this wasn’t stated in your invite but the receptionist made a very dumb argument that when ever one is coming for any exams or interview, common sense requires you come with ALL your credentials. cheesy

OP has probably encountered one of such people hence the unrest.

Besides this, it's actually clearly stated in the mail. Lol.
I just hadn't gotten it by then, just the SMS that didn't have all the info.

You see my dear friend, business is business.
So now, they'd more than double viewership without shedding revenue/profit.

why not both?
When enough people have come onboard for 9k, it'll later be opened up for 3k subscribers...
In that case it'll be a win win...

don't u think u would've made more profits if all the bouquets was airing it?
Wat do u mean by 'u'? Lol...I'm not DStv.
If the matches are allowed on the lowest 2k sub, you'd have more subscribers yes, but your revenue and profit margin won't reflect it...
Better you have 300 pple, paying 9k, than 1000 pple, paying 2k

What a way to excuse their inconsideration, discrimination and blatant wickedness. Who is the economy not affecting? But it's fine. It's only a matter of time.

Very soon they'll be the ones begging Nigerians to buy their products but by that time Nigerians would have moved on with a reputable alternative. Let them enjoy their little time on the top for the time being.

If you have any sort of affiliations with them, tell them what I said. It's gonna happen wink
Who's fault is it that Startimes and others didn't bid?
In 2018, didn't all have the right?
Like I said, NTA is also showing about 30 games on Startimes. That is an alternative, and it's free... Or u ain't patriotic enough to watch national television?

Check your head well obo. What happened to the days of BON? What happened to the days you can turn local TV with loved ones gathering to see a match? So you think an average Nigerian can sub 5k abi? Obo we hail they.

BON is dead..
Govt rn doesn have that kind of money to be throwing around for something that won't bring returns oga... especially this one wey Nigeria no qualify...
NTA sports on Startimes is showing 28 games free, you can aswell patronise them.

Until NTA is privatised, expect this kinds of dissapointments, it's just the sad reality.
DStv payed over $25million as English and local language Paytv broadcaster they have to recoup investments.
Besides this wan an open bid, not exclusive Startimes, cable plus and the rest could have bid too, but economy be Wilding

DStv bought the exclusive rights to show the matches in West Africa.
They didn't buy any exclusive rights, the thing is No other company bid..

you just dey yarn nonsense world cup is a global event why must we pay overboard to view what we were watching on nta for free in those days
Because, NTA can no longer afford to pay upward of $10million so that you can watch ball, when the agency itself has not remitted 1naira to government coffers in over 13 years.
Even the private stations like AIT can no longer afford it because of inflation and the how the global tv rights market is now..

NTA sports is showing about 28games as FTA, but you need Startimes antenna decoder to access it. Obviously they'd lose money but it's just Startimes way to fulfill all righteousness..

nta hardly shows the matches. They ve been going off air and showing wike projects
Not the Normal NTA, NTA Sport24 on Startimes(ANTENNA) has been showing games. Yesterday was Ghana v Portugal and Cameroon v Swiss. The other day I think they showed Canada v Belgium.
They have rights to about 30 games in total

The so-called Privatisation Excercise.

Back then Govt use to pay for the Rights in Nigeria while NTA collect advert money from Companies to air their Adverts and share with other Stations showing them at the end of each Tournament. Same with the Olympics.

Everything change when we leave everything for the Private businemen.

Do you know that in some Middle East countries, the EPL La Liga and co are on free to air? The Government paid for the viewing Rights in their Territories and let the Citizens enjoy them.
Name that middle eastern country that EPL and co are free to air abeg, I wan laugh

you’re not serious. I did sub of 4100 and I checked preview before subscribing, they told me that same package will show all the matches but na fan page i dey watch since
I use DStv and the world cup is in 9k sub, but the advert I see on SuperSport channels has always been that 'upgrade to Gotv supa to enjoy 64 matches of the worldcup'... So bro, I dunno what u saying.
GOTV super is ₦5500, has access to all the games, but DStv Confam that is ₦5300 can only watch select matches. It ain't fair anywhere

This is the most expensive worldcup via broadcasts rights, even Startimes and Canal + couldn't bid for the rights cos of the economy and financial pressure, leaving DStv as the only company with the full rights. NTA sports has FTA rights but only about 30 matches in total.

All the matches are on DStv Compact, 9k subscription and GOtv Supa, 5k subscription.

Nigerians like going overboard ad crying about nonsense.
U expect to watch all the matches of the world cup with 2800 subscription, when dollar is > ₦700, plus massive inflation?

Why does CRTV Sports on 16E scramble when is match about to kick off?
Because some, if not most of these FTA broadcasters just have the rights to transmit this matches TERRESTRIALLY ONLY. that is to say the signals to those games can only be assessed by antenna signal in the country that they broadcast from.
So when time forthe game to start beckons, the satellite feed is scrambled or taken off, leaving only the terrestrial feed.

Same thing with NTA broadcast of the world cup, only the terrestrial NTA is showing FTA games, the NTA on DStv and Startimes (Dish) don't. (NTA on Startimes antennas shows the worldcup)

It's all about tv rights and copy rights

Ita easy for DSTV to make select matches available because of lack of competition.

This is the most expensive WC and TV rights also went up, with DSTV acquiring all rights to the 64 matches.

Startimes doesn't have the right at all. Meaning in Nigeria, you're left to DSTV.

DSTV then moved all to premium package.

If Startimes of ₦3000 had rights, Gotv will show all the matches.

When you have no competition, you dictate what people watch

Your analysis is correct, but all 64 matches are on DStv Compact, not Premium. GOTV Supa is also showing all the games.

FTA just has rights for 28 of 64 matches.
Too bad Startimes didn't bid this year, cos normally worldcup rights aren't exclusive persey, but I think Startimes is going through financial difficulties

davodyguy:

Lol.

If there's competition, this will not happen.

Watch out for SLTV.

When they come on board, he go be for DSTV.

With ₦2500 a month, watch everything.

Before December 1st, they'll be on board

2500 a month is what they used to charge for single view back then in 2008, they later increased to 3500 and 5000 for single and dual view respectively that year..

I think their pricing would be higher, maybe 4500 or 5k a month, that's more realistic and the channel's won't be HD, SuperSport would most likely furnish them with ROA feed..

What's the name and brand of this decoder?
That technology/decoder type no longer exists...
Those were the good old days of IKS/SKS decoders like Azsky, SunWin and Qsat(aka the queen)... about 12 to 15 years ago(between 2006 and 2012/13)
The decoders usually came with SIMCARD ports where u load it with airtime like 500 Naira and it'll sometimes last for 2 months depending on how much you view it..

Mind you it was illegal and if caught you go spend some quality time for sanko, because those decoders illegally decrypt DStv and Bein Sport channels..
Technology has improved and that style of piracy has been wiped out..
We are now in the era of IPTV which is in no way as cheap as the former, but more flexible cos you don't need a particular decoder type.
