That sounds like stolen tools to me

Do a oil change with the correct weight of engine oil the fill the tank half way.

Did anyone work on your car in the last one week?

You putting a gallon of gas in the car with gage on E is a big sign you cannot afford to keep that car running. Your eyes don pass your pocket no matter how you feel about this statement
Car Talk / Re: Any Import Duty For Electric Cars? by sultaan(m): 8:54pm On Apr 02
Why would you send an electric car to the generator country .

If you enter one of those 10 he Lagos traffic and your range ends on third mainland, will you go rest I better pass my neighbor on third mainland to charge for hours?

Look for hybrid or phev. Toyota has hybrid or prime so in Lexus version

Naija is still the cheapest in the whole of Africa to buy and own a car bro let me tell u.

is it because of the price of the car ,or cost of fuel?
Car Talk / Re: Why Are Cars So Expensive In Nigeria by sultaan(m): 5:47am On Mar 22
Nigeria is basically in the choke hold of a few folks making so much money by declaring every normal.

When central bank decided they were not going to supply dollar to those who requested it for 43 items, other declare it as been banned and they made a lot of money charging those importing it as smugglers.

Until a couple of days ago that they were told to return seized food stuff.

No sane businessman will use the Nigerian port if they have another choice.

The federal institution has made it almost every action illegal, that is why you have to bribe a government official for everything you do.

That system must be broken before, people must be free to trade and move goods around without fear and intimidation.

There has to be equity, the same rule that applies to Dangote must apply to everyone

Import duty is about 100% if anyone tells you otherwise you are about to enter one chance.

They will tell you it is less than that, but once your vehicle enters port then it will become a different story of situational excuses.

How many here will give their money to the seller to buy this car after this deal falls apart, or if this seller puts another car up for sale.

Integrity in business is not there, the buyer should have possession at payment of first installment.

A wise thing would have been to have interest added as car is being financed

Are you maaaad? How dare you quote me in such manner, may God punish you fooool. Can you imagine. Did i ask for opinion from an idiiiot like you?

Emotions coming into play again without ration.

You spent money twice and now you are here looking for someone to validate your next error.

You are replacing a transmission without an error code.

You didn't mention a CVT transmission in your car which does not feel like a regular transmission, so if you don't feel the gear changing/shifting it is wrong you think it is bad.

Mechanic possibly adding Abro trans fluid cannot be overlooked.

Coming up here with mind made up to go manual will definitely attract takers for this expensive venture.

Not calling out foolish ideas of seeking out second opinion after surgery without diagnosis bad enough. Going for a transplant is Putinous

Good day, I drive a Corolla sport 07, resentful I notice my gear oil has been leaking , I reach out to my mechanic and he connect me with someone that repair gear , the person charge me 35k say he will change the seal and cup

Again , someone told me once they repair gear .. it’s can’t be perfect as before again

Please , I need best advice

Leaking from where?

If you don't get your act together to ask the right question, you will be spending a boat load of money to fix what is not broken

Emekayoung:

My car is a 2007 Nissan versa. I have changed the gear twice in two years. I have heard people converting from auto to manual due to transmission failure, that's why i want to convert mine to be free from automatic wahala. I just want to go through a reliable mechanic that's all. I don't want to go through anybody without a recommendation.

You have been foolish twice in 2 years, now you are trying to top it off with absurd idiot move.

This is all on you bro, no need to involve anyone capable of thinking.

Keep doing same thing and expect different result

fineboynl:
that car is rates 25mpg at 11 gals that about 270 miles city. 30mpg high way. Factory standard.

Places like Lagos he will get less than 20mpg. It's a fat lie. Corrola cannot get that mpg even.

Civic 5 speed gets better than 25mpg

It is very unfortunate that the kind of comments here supporting the seller is why we are looked at as scammers.

We are trying to justify a wise transaction while sacrificing the integrity of our words.

When the man made a verbal commitment to sell his car at a price, and agreed to a condition of installmental payment.

The buyer met/honored the condition of the agreement(written or not), it is for the seller to honor his end of the deal.

That a bad deal was made in hindsight is not the buyers fault. All businessmen are dealing with adjusting price daily due to soaring prices.

If the seller bought the car when dollar was 475, sold it when dollar was 750, final payment made when dollar is 1500.

Owner could not afford to fuel the car then, he cannot afford to fuel it now.

I want to believe he does not know the value of the car then and now, all he wants is to the the value of the dollar he got the car for then not to be able to afford a smaller car.

With the way the naira is now , he definitely will not be able to afford a Corolla, he might get lucky with a Cruze or Focus.

If we all put ourselves in the sellers shoes, hes sold the car at a cheap price then because he could not afford to run it.

The seller bought a car that costs a lot of money to run at a reasonable price(deal) at a risk,

The seller should hold up to his end of the bargain
Car Talk / Re: How Much Do You Spend Daily On Fuel Since The Removal Of Subsidy by sultaan(m): 8:38pm On Feb 17
fineboynl:
I don't believe it. Fuel is N670 per litre. With a factor the litre is not correct.

Now civic has a capacity of 11 gals at 25mpg. Nigeria factors. Bad road, bad fuel bad oil. Considering the age of the vehicle. Even if you get the factory 25mpg. No way 30k fuel will do 350miles

30k fuel will get you about 40 liters.
This will give about 11 gallons of fuel.
and 30mpg at highway miles, it is possible

This is our doing, we chose it like that.

A lot of noise was made about things getting out of hand 8 years ago when we started borrowing money like international beggar to feed the political class.
Wahala just began .

What will you all do if fuel hits N900 and dollar is N1500?

Still vote APC, because they have done nothing wrong.

There is a black hose that goes from you brake booster to the throttle body .
It has either been taken off by a mechanic or it has a big crack in it. Fix it and your car will be normal, nothing else need to be fixed for now

Car Talk / Re: A Choice Between Toyota Camry 2001 And Honda Civic 2006 - 2008 by sultaan(m): 10:12pm On Nov 05, 2023
Musty4ahmed1:
The body of Honda civic wear out quickly, you won't like it after some years. The engine is too small for long distance trip and it doesn't have good ground clearance like the camry he mentioned. As a first timer I will strongly advice he go with the camry. My take please

The body of a Civic is about 2 inches lower than a camry, the tire is smaller too.Why will the body of a car wear out if you don't go running into danfo everyday?
The engine will take you as far as the camry engine can go. These cars are designed to go 200000 miles before major overhauls.
If you park both cars on the road, the camry is likely to be vandalized or stolen.
The big difference between Camry and Civic is cost of ownership.
Even if you buy both at the same price you will spend about N40,000 a month to fuel civic and N50,000 on Camry

2006 civic will be the best option here.

Newer than the Camry.
Smaller engine easier to maintain
fuel efficiency is better than Camry.
It will go on any long distance trip you want to undertake.

May I suggest you take advice from those who actually own cars and not those who dream of a Camry.

With fuel at N650/l and going to N800 it is better to buy a car you can afford to own
