Of course they do! Anyone who's ever consumed African-American literature or TV programming, should know that African-Americans have one of the most prevalent cultures in world – Southern Cuisine, documented history [over 200 years – from slavery, to plantations, struggles for emancipation], etc. – they even have do-goody, culturally knowledgeable grandmas like every other culture.

Some Nigerians (nay Africans born/residing in Africa) are full of empty pride on this subject, it's just something they'd harp on to boost an empty superiority complex. I don't think any Nigerian tribe has documented history going back 2 centuries. My dear, Nigerians who are Millienials [kids born after 1980 – called the internet & cable-TV generation] are more or less Global Citizens. They are some of the most promiscuous people I know. They consume pop culture without a filter. Have you spoken to them lately... Damn, these girls ain't loyal (many are now bi, etc. – I respect every individual's choices), and the boys wanna-be-thhhugs. I can remember a few years back (in the news), they couldn't get virgins in Warri aged ~16 for the purity side of the festival, they went for the aged-13s, still no luck, they had to go to the pre-teens to get virgin representation.

Don't you have Instagram?! Blacks are blacks, forget the segregation, years from now, you won't be able to distinguish us apart. We are all going to be Global Citizens, with a dynamic culture. This is very narrow minded. My girlfriend is Chinese decent and her name is Mya she doesn't speak Cantonese yet she still has her culture. Culture goes beyond name calling and language.

Everything the AA does is a derivative of the hip hop culture; a culture with no set of rules or guidance as to the morality of life.

Now, every race or tribe do have a culture, but most times, the definition of the word differs. The police for example do have a culture ( cop culture ), but its objective is negatively detrimental to the people it profess to serve.

I find it ironic whenever some Nigerians claim that Americans have no culture. Let us step back and analyse the following:

* We converse and write in a foreign language: English
* Most, if not all, of us are currently attired not in our native clothing but in western clothing.
* Our major religions are foreign
* So many know more about western music, movies, and politics than we do our own.
* So many of us try our best to act foreign. (It pains me when I see someone who can clearly converse in Yoruba, but they elect to have a conversation with me in their disjointed English.)

If Americans have no culture, why are so many Nigerians trying to be like them?
