Give him kudos

You should have listened to your heart and not posted a comment because your childlike reasoning (not to talk about your ridiculous text-speak) is bound to draw insult.

Are you saying that having a degree precludes you from doing a dangerous night job? What about all those degree holders working daily on those flying coffins we call airlines? Is it because the airline job titles sound prestigious & glamorous? Or maybe Dangote should change the name to "Senior Mobility Facilitator" instead of truck driver?

You asked why he doesn't ask his kids to drive trucks? The same reason why you are not selling pure water in between traffic.

It is type of reasoning that keeps Africa lagging behind other continents. This our pride & fixation on prestige & titles is killing is. Most of these degrees being studied in Nigeria are worthless or questionable at best. So you'll rather these graduates run around robbing, duping & kidnapping instead of doing a honest job driving a truck?

As for the people on Dangote's side. I wonder what u guys are still waiting for. Even if u are working, u can still quit the job & apply for the truck driver job instead of advising others to go for sth u cannot do or even recommend for ur brother to do.

Smelly anus? You must have had your nose very close to my hairy black azz in order to judge if it were smelly or not? What a weird life to live, going around sticking you nose up the azzes of men! Does it turn you on or what?? Yuck!!

You show me where Dangote asked for "degrees in truck driving"? If you can't read and digest a simple write up then what chance do you stand in this life? Ooops, I forgot you were the guy who has made up his mind to die in poverty.

This is an extract from Dangote's website - "The scheme which will revolutionalize the road transport sub-sector of the economy is designed to improve the professionalism in the transport division of Dangote Industries Limited by engaging graduates and other educated Nigerians as drivers after months of training."

I'll give you a couple of days to digest that little extract to see if you understand. Or do you need a week?

Good for you! You do what you have to do because you have to. Other people will do the same (even if it means driving a truck as a degree holder), so leave them to it. Everyman to his own. If my relative has been looking for a job for 5years without any success and he decides to apply to be a truck driver, then good luck to him!!

I do what I have to do where I do it.

the educational requirements to run for a gubernatorial election in Nigeria is secondary school certificate. Does Dangote think that driving a truck calls for higher education than running a state in Nigeria?

people don't get it. Dangote has succeeded in ridiculing every Nigerian grown graduate by thinking that the 4 or 5yrs of under graduate work amounts to just enough education to drive a truck.

The truth is that what we lack in Nigeria is not skill or education, but right attitude. unfortunatly, even higher education cannot offer that. let him try, it will dawn on him that formal education isnt required to be a successful truck driver.

for those that are at a loss on why this advert is condemned, his raising the educational qualifications cannot garantee him succeed; getting drivers with the right attitude will. moreover, if a secondary school graduate can run a state, no education is required to be a successful truck driver.

but let me ask us, can we truly say for sure that we can defend which ever certificate we have anytime, any day.

So any job seeker that doesn't take this offer is stuupid, right? Whoever says that is really deluded!

I still maintain that you can only take this offer only if you want to raise funds for ur business idea

If not, you shouldn't even wink at the offer! Driving trucks an unhealthy job in Nigeria!

A graduate will always drive better dan a driver who rose frm ''Agboro'' (Owo da) rank. @ least a graduate wld always read road signs, how wld one Musa, Abdullahi or Abubakah frm one Boko Haram state be able 2 undstnd when a road sign says ''Children Crossing''

Mr.chippychappy:

You are missing the point ! Why should we have ONE dangote when we can have 100 "dangotes"? Dangote suppresses competition and wants to monopolize the industrial sector ! Fair enough he has employed lots of people but if dangote can employ say for example 10,000 people then think about how the rate of unemployment would drastically decrease if we had at least 10 more POWERFUL industrialists like Dangote ?
na tru talk, i feel u

I dont blame Dangote for TWO REASONS:

1.) The man himself is just a "rich illiterate"! he does not know nor appreciate the value of education.
Like it is said, "Any fool can have money".
I dont mind people being rich (like Bill Gates or Oprah Winfrey) when they use their brain and do it legitimately but we all know that in Nigeria, being rich is akin to being the Devil himself.

Ask him (Dangote) why each time any of his "blood sucking Trucks" swerves into and kills some people, the drivers simply disappear, according to instructions? Rumor has it that he uses the victims blood/soul for you know what!
Again, if we live in a sane society where laws are upheld, the likes of Dangote would rot in prison for charges ranging from price fixing, breach of competition rules, murder/manslaughter, public endangerment, e.t.c.
Is this not the same man that continually makes people homeless by "fixing the price" of Cement?
but hey, this is Nigeria now, anything goes, right?

2.) Well, if not that we have "cursed leaders" in government and policy positions, how can some Eediots not be thanking Dangote for providing jobs for millions of UN-employed Youths?
One of the primary responsibilities of a national Government and a President indeed, is to provide employment opportunities for its citizens. This is one issue that will make or mar the Obama administration, for example.

This does not stop or hinder self-employment and they are not mutually exclusive.
But when Government is so misguided like we have, and the citizens so confused and brain-washed like we are, we live in a state of stupor, wondering endlessly through day-to-day and thanking God that at least we have seen the next day-light!
I guess next, we will thank Dangote for putting up and advert requiring PhD holders to come and apply to be his Mai-Gaurd, afterall, HE IS PROVIDING JOBS FOR MILLIONS OF UN-EMPLOYED YOUTHS! grin grin

Dont blame Dangote that much, bl;ame the system that made people like him feed fat on our national wealth, just for his own pockets!

Any "rich thief" can turn the masses into slaves and still be seen a s being benevolent...yes now!

BTW: if all you wanted and dreamt of becoming is a Truck driver and you went to a UNIVERSITY for all these years, then you need to have your head properly examined! grin grin
Because you dont have a job NOW doesnot mean you should dehumanize yourself and reduce your "self-worth" to NOTHING?

Go and look at Truck drivers in Europe and America, they are at best, Primary Six level of education but they are damn good at driving their Trucks!
You dont need to be a Graduate to Drive a truck, ...when will Nigerians grow out of this slave mentality?
Who would do the Graduate jobs like "Research", if all Graduates now do is drive Trucks? Jeezuz Christ!! shocked shocked

Re: Why Crucify Dangote For Providing Jobs For Unemployed Graduates. by kokosheen(m): 5:05am On Aug 04, 2012
For folks cursing Dangote, take it easy and take this reasoning:

If you have someone that has been unemployed (2 years+) working as a truck driver earning 400k+ a month, he earns hard cash, he learn different routes in Nigeria and gets 1 particular skill of being able to diagnose and carry out simple repairs on diesel engines (the same engine concept you see in industrial generators and the like). If he knows what he wants, he can take all these after 2+ years to work as distributor to an FMCG company or set up his own haulage business (after saving his salary as capital) or start up a truck repair company somewhere along the haulage route or set up a diesel generator repair & coupling company.

As in, the opportunities are limitless!!!!! I'm doing ok right now but I tell you, if I had this opportunity come my way 7 years ago, I would have jumped on it (Darn!!! I worked for 20k a month for nearly a year after graduating with 2.1 in engineering).

My take sha.

Aliko Dangote studied business at Cairo University so I’m very curious why you call him a “rich illiterate”.

Most of your points are riddled with sentiment that does not jive with reality. People have a choice to apply for the job or not. Your personal dislike for Dangote is irrelevant to the issue.

Your degree does not define who you are; rather it’s a tool to help achieve your dreams. Don’t let it become a burden and cloud your judgment. A graduate is only a subject matter expert who is expected to apply critical thinking and analytical skills to solving problems. Period! We really don’t understand this.

In Nigeria, graduates are seen as special breeds that can only work in offices and should not “get their hands dirty” This mentality is killing this nation and we need to get rid of it right now. Your comment reflects the type of mindset that is holding Nigeria back.

Driving a truck in Nigeria is risky and not a great career but do you have any jobs for our unemployed graduates?
