Hello doctors in the house
I need your help.. Started having this pain at the lower right hand side of my tummy in July last year.It stopped later on.Then by October 2018 the pain was severe..went in for a pelvic scan and a cyst was seen on my right ovary.
The size(25*30.77)mm
I was given some antibiotics and pain relief drugs.I got relieved.
Then I notice this pain comes when I am ovulating.
Went in for a scan today again and it's still same size. Right now I am feeling that pain again though milder than before.
My doctor keeps saying it will go itself and really I am tired.
I am getting married in few months time.Does this in anyway affect giving birth?
What can I use please?
I am tired already.

House please has anyone used anything that worked for ovarian cyst?..Help me o

It does not in anyway affect child birth. If it's only a functional cyst it will definitely go on it own. However, if it's long enough without a fall in size or if it is found to be increasing in size, a removal(as in the cyst) may be necessary.
By management, it is to be on a pain relieving medication to ease your pain especially during your mid-cycle. This will combat exacerbation coming from the mid-cycle symptoms as you watch for size changes.
Usually, the need for a removal becomes pivotal if after 3-4 cycles and the cyst is yet to reduce in size or if at all it is discern to be something far from normal.
You are advise to watch further but due to pain severity you may discus the option of a removal or use of helping hormone-regulating pills to help with its morbidity and as well for a preventive measure.

Hello doctors in the house, I am a breastfeeding mum. I have high prolactin which I had before I got pregnant with my child and I was put on Carbagoline. Now, I was having the symptoms and I met with my doctor who ask me to run a test which I did. From the test, my prolactin is still high. My question now is can I use carbagoline while breastfeeding because I am scared it might affect my baby. I spoke with my doctor on this and he said there is nothing stating it can be use or not. Please doctors, is it advisable or should I wait till I stop breastfeeding?

You can't eat your cake and have it. You can't be breastfeeding and wants fertility. If you desire to serve lactation to your baby then the use of any prolactin inhibitor such as Carbegoline is a contraindication. You really have to stop breastfeeding before thinking of using Cabergoline, else using the drug is to no effect since in one hand you are provoking the prolactin spurt by breast or nipple expression.

Thank you for your reply. The main reason for wanting to take the medication is because I have symptoms like severe headaches and it’s affecting my monthly flow too but majorly for the headaches which are always serious most time and not for fertility Per se.
I appreciate your response. I won’t use until I stop breastfeeding. Thank you so much.

O! I see! Apology if I seem to be judgemental.
Did the doctor say it was micro- or a macroprolactinomas?

Hello doctor, I'm supposed to see my period on the 25th of December and up till now I've not seen it.I've never experienced such delay since I started menstruation. Also since lastweek whenever I bend down to do house chores I end up having serious cramps like period is coming but at the end of the day it won't show up,so I decided to use pt strip day before yesterday around 9am and it was negative. Please what could be wrong?? Am so scared of visiting the hospital and hearing negative health report.

We don't know what could be wrong until a diagnosis is done. But we do advise you patiently stay some cycles more to see if it will come out sooner or later. I advise your not minding too much about it, less exercise, eat more of vegetables( in fact keep a good balance diet), drink more of fluids. And if you have been using some certain medications before now, you may seek a doctor's view on stopping them to see if it has any occasion with the present predicament.
After 4-5 cycles without any show, please seek a doctor's guide as to how to find a solution to the cause of cessed monthly flow, as amenorrhea.

Hello Doctor in the house, I have been having this abnormal severe menstrual pains for the past two years now. Two weeks before my Menstruation, am already experiencing severe pains, can't remember the last time, I had a painless blood flow. Been to a gynecologist, she suggest I did HVS, URINALYSIS and PELVIC SCAN, which I did, bt the results shows m perfectly Okay. Pls, what can be done?
First, on your own ensure to manage pain by using pain relieving drugs merely to control not in any sense to prevent pains. You can serve yourself most of these relievers on an OTC basis. Please no abuse.
I also may have you to consider doing some exercise during your ovulation and menstruation. It will alleviate this pain too. Why taking salt-water mixture can help at increasing period flow in some females, use of salt during severe pain period in your cycle is not advisable.
Also, you can seek a doctor's help to put you on a simple contraceptive too. This will reduce your pains too.

You didn't make available some helpful biodata like your age, duration of menstruation, irregular or has been normal, given birth before, done abortion before or now and many others perhaps with abdominal complaints.
Yet, you can still try on going for more aggressive medical diagnostic techniques to knowing the cause of your problem. These may help in further diagnosis of a secondary dysmenorrhea with respect to your complaint :
1. Homonal profiling (PCOS)
2. Biopsy ( for tumour/cancer of the uterus and adnexa)
3.Laparoscopy( for abdominal complaints and Endometriosis)
4. Pap smear( should a bleeding in between cycle associates)
5. Others.
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by 2Ballz(m): 9:13am On Jan 19, 2019
Good morning friends,
I will be happy if every one of us comply on putting a biodata of theirs before posting their complaints. This will cover the stress of always asking for it after studying the complaint. I mean not to appear demanding as in trying to, you are not to comply if in putting it counts only in body-shaming you.
Kindly help us with the above information before placing your complaint:
Sex.
Age.
Height.
Weight.
Body Mass Index(BMI).
Skin color.
Blood pressure.
Pulse rate.

Menstrual cycle days
Menstruation duration(normally or if abnormally of last 2-3cycles)
Menstrual cycle( regular or irregular)
Degree of irregularity(of last 2-4 cycles)
LMP.

Marital status.
Abortion
Contraceptive(s) (used before now and the present)
Medications (used in last 2-3weeks and the present)
Food(likes and dislikes, not really compulsory)
Other health conditions( before now and the present)

For the now, these are enough. Then give your complaint.

Your not having period for about 2years may result from hyperprolactinaemia(high prolactin level in the blood).
Commonly associated with a pituitary adenomas(prolactinomas), some medications used and rarely, PCOS and CKD.
Good use of Dopamine analogs like Cabergoline and Bromocriptin have proved useful.
Meanwhile, for improvement you may stay away from most drugs to stop vomiting/nausea, cimetidine, antipsychotics and then few galactagogues of herbal origin.
Follow duration of treatment and get the doctor informed after completion after which a check on your prolactin profile is done for improvement.

Any history of intermittent headache and migraine before pregnancy?
If any kindly discus this with your doctor. He may suggest ways to handle this problem.

Stress!
Largely enough this is not what any of us can run from. This can affect hormone distribution in pregnancy and often come to be most causes of headache in pregnancy. You have got to manage your stress this time around. Kindly observe where you are having much stress -work, lack of home support, psychic, environmental instability, mood swing , etc.
Take a chill and relax you. Play cool lovely songs and sleep when you should.
It is also commendable to avoid standing too much or walking for a long time especially on high heel shoes. However, one or two streetwalk can ease this burden to some degree. So, exercise your body yo give away your mind from your body to free your soul.

Poor blood sugar and/or high blood pressure.
The brain need food in the form of sugar to function. Lack of it can be a sign of a serious problem often showing as headache. You may need to have your blood sugar checked, or probably discus this with the doctor.
Check your blood pressure too, a urine protein analysis may be necessary.

For management:
Kindly avoid
1. Caffeinated teas
2. Alcohol
3. Yoghurt

Lastly, you should continue with your paracetamol medication to manage your headache while you wait on your next visit.

Yes. I have history of headache and migraine for abt 8 yes now but they don't last more than 12-24 hrs . then I use optalidol or ibuprofen for it but now I only manage PCM because of the baby.

This present one started on Wednesday after a stressful journey and about two hours of standing in a bank. So I thought it will clear the next day but alas, its still here.

It started with severe concentration on the right side of the head just above the eye region, then, it rotate from that position to another. Presently on the left hand side.

With an history of migraine travelling could have been hinged on deferral, something you should have taken note of if you had bothered discussing it out with your doctor before this time.
The former directives remains the same and I advice you follow as guided. During this period:-
1. No beverages
2. Drink plenty of water
3. Take fruits like watermelon, pawpaw, soursop
5. Little bean food and no bread.
6. Avoid too much exposure of eyes to bright lights.
7. Enjoy plenty of rest and sleep.
8. Remain on your paracetamol(extra) for the time being until proper cause or trigger is investigated.

Ha no beverages? No bread? Then am feeding the bug that causes the headache unknowingly. As for others I do them. Drinks water like fish, rest, and sleep well and also eat fruits.

Don't know the causes but am usually sensitive to noise, light, heat. Whenever it starts then I will prefer cool, noiseless, dark and well ventilated area.

Thanks a lot. Will discuss in full at my next appointment on Thursday.
