logica: Average IQ they say is 69. This does not mean ALL Nigerians have an IQ of 69. As a matter of fact, a Nigerian could have the highest IQ in the World, but due to so many with lower IQs, then the average IQ is low. That's about average. For those saying this has to do with culture (I used to be of the same opinion but I have changed my mind), and that the IQ tests are not suited to Africans or Blacks, please explain why the highest average IQ in the World is found in Japan? How come Japanese are able to do even better at these IQ tests tailor-suited for Caucasians? And their high average IQ accounts for why a small country with little or no natural resources can become an economic and industrial super power.

The average IQ of 69 cannot be far from the truth; and we can see this for a fact all around us (here in Nigeria). The general "dumb" manner in which a lot of people go about doing things. You can see it in how people drive, how they even walk on the side of the road, and you can see it in the Government at all levels. The average IQ of 69 can account for why a country with an embarrassment of natural resources is an economic lightweight and industrially comatose.

But now the question is, why this low IQ average? What is the cause? For me I believe it has more to do with poverty and nutrition. You cannot expect a malnourished person to exhibit above average intelligence. You expect a hungry person who is constantly thinking of where the next meal to come from to perform well in an IQ test? And of course the majority fall of the populace fall in the "poverty stricken" category. For African Americans, the lower scores has more to do with disinterest than our own case of malnutrition. Or you could say they suffer from malnutrition of the mind.

What is "played out" about IQ score itself is the actual singular figure. I believe IQ averages are more accurate than the singular values assigned to people (as the averages are computed from a large sample size). Singular (individual) IQ scores are not accurate and they are better expressed as a range of values; as the same person can retake the IQ test several times and score different results. But the score correlation will definitely consistently put the test taker within a particular category of intelligence. Basically, if you are a ret@rd, the test score will never put you in the category of a genius; and vice-versa.
