The best way of finding solution is for the people to obey the laws of traffic. Then the government can construct freeways on the outskirt of the city, build more link bridges and tell the citizens to use more of public transportation. Broken down vehicles and cars should be removed from the roads immediately. People should be educated on walking short distances instead of driving. With these the huge Lagos traffic congestion will gradually ease through time.

I think there is urgent need to organize the city and the people though!

Identify d causes of traffic:
they are
1. Bad roads/pot holes
2. Indiscriminate stopping/parking of commercial/private vehicle at strategic points
3. Breakdown of vehicles.
Solution
1. bad road should fixed temporarily or permanently.
2. Educating d drivers/ public awareness, strict fining of defaulters and impounding of vehicles 4 a set period of time.
3. Prompt towing

This is a waiting lines (Queuing) Problem and from a business perspective, I would want to advice a least cost approach.

1. Companies should outsource at least 30% of there work to work-at-home staff. If you match income with efficiency and result, work-at-home staff may perform better than office place workers. you have BBs to send mails and get alerts for work to be do. There is also the Call-User-Group service to limit cost of calls.

2.Schedule different work resumption times for groups of workers. I don't see why we cannot do for six(6) hours what we are currently doing for eight(cool hours or more in our offices. work hours can come to six hours a day and resumption groups could be 8am to 3pm and 10am to 4pm. if 60 percent of white collar businesses do this, just imagine the effect on traffic. Each group closes at a time where traffic is minimal and have at least 2hours to get home. Market workers have 6pm to whatever time to get home too.

3. Government should build more schools in areas like Ajah, Badore, along and to Epe to increase proximity to schools. In our days, we walked to school - did not need cars on the road to take us to school.

4.Create side-attractions at toll-gates. Should there be a wait, them make the wait pleasurable. Control road traffic with number of toll-gate lane so as to have a pleasurable wait at toll-gate and a smooth traffic-free ride afterwards.

Embrace car sharing to reduce road congestion and the resulting carbon emissions on our roads...It has worked in other countries and Nigeria is no exception.

Have people ever taken/find time to check/identify the numbers of broken down BRT buses in their garrages,if the operators like let them buy 100,000 buses, the trafic situation will not change because the maintenance systems the operators of BRT/LAGBUS adopted has failed and passengers that drop their cars has now revert back to taken along their cars to office. They should therefore go back to london to copy the maintenance strategy to use in providing health and reliable transport systems

How do you intend to change the culture of distrust amongst Nigerians? What mechanism do you have in place to make sure that folks are safe?

It is funny that no one has told us to mind our business since we are not Yoruba's or from the southwest. In the other thread where an individual was able to sack a sitting local government from their official premises, we were told to mind our business and you wonder the kind of hypocrisy that exist in this country.

In 2021,US loose over $86billion due to wasted hours in traffic. What more of the entire world. The only smart tech that can solve traffic issues is Easetraffic. Visit https://easetraffic.com

Pls contribute and share ways that Lagos can resolve its traffic mess, choas, congestion, while creating jobs and other opportunities?

Since the ban of Okadas things have got worse. Please as much as possible be practical and realistic in your suggestions.
Transportation planning and management are professional discipline s. To be emphirical, you can only recommend after detailed survey has been conducted to identify the problems and their cause factors. Strategies are unlimited but survey is necessary to identify which of them is the best for identified problems. Anything outside this is mere speculations, which ironically we love so much in. Nigeria.
