Pls Pls,

For those of you waiting for NYSC, you can apply as Industrial training in companies while you wait. Yes, you are a graduate but experience is what you really need now.

While i was waiting for NYSC, i got an IT placement of 1500naira as monthly salary. They do this to scare away students. I needed the experience so i went for it, the first week my Transport alone was about 1600naira. Mumsi was just laughing at me, telling me to quit blah blah blah, thanks for dad that helped me with TP the next wk.

Anyway..i started with them but the second week, they noticed i was very good with computer and typing, the company secretary the made me to work overtime with her doing bidding and all. that was how i earned every day 1hr overtime of 500naira. I even came to work on saturday for 1200naira.

What am i trying to say, dont look at the money offered. Accept it, gain the experience and move on. The 3 month experience i got with the company helped me alot as they even wanted me to do my NYSC in their establishment.

Sometimes you have to go an extra mile for what you want.

Happy new yr every one

What ar d chances for an HND accounting graduate in oil and gas company.
What steps can he take ?cos I was told that most oil coys don't accept HND especially management courses.

Well, i speak just for servicing company..not producing company! For accounting, the line is thin as an organisation with 60 technical workers can have just 3 accounting officers.

But most accountants iknow in oil and gas came in through NYSC or very much experienced.

Also note that just as is a good thing for Technical guys to change from on company to another, but not the same with accountants(because they have too much finantial detail of organizations.

D activities of oil companies have a lot of impact on the environment. Its the job of the environmental engineer to ascertain the impact and advise the company on the best way to avoid negative impact.
Also when disasters happen like oil spillage or rig blow out, they help to check negative effects.

scantee: wahoo is really high, most professional training is always expensive, i could recall when i did my fibre optic training, i paid 50k per hour, i spent ova 900k doing that, i wil advice you look for individuals that can teach you, the certificate does not matter, they hardly ask for that, all they care for is if you can handle it, or better still go and do primavela 9, if you can do that well, i might link you up for Ecvaos where such people are needed. I did both premavela & pertmaster in South Africa, is very interesting.

Thanks for ya contributions on this thread. I am a civil Engr with advance skills in autoCAD 2D3D, P&ID and PDMS. Can you link me up with the escravos job or is it for peeps with project management skills only? How do i get into the industry with ma skills? Am thinking of doing ma HS&E dis year. Youя advice will be highly appreciated and you can contact me via email; juliusdubem@gmail dot com for the escravos link. Thanks.

it all depends on the area you want to work or specialise that will determine the certification you will do. Though as a Civil Engr, you will be of better postion in contract job, most civil engrs in the coy is incharge of bundwall/tank rehabilitation and other civil work, they are also incharge of generating scope of work, Method statement, work procedures to the contractors.

PLease incase you get any ebook from him, take not of my email in my signature and kindly send to me.

Its very easy to get a job in d oil and gas industry. Just make sure u r studying something that u like. Cos anyone can work in the oil industry. Don't study a course just cos u want to get into the industry cos when u get in, u will finally become bored after u get used to all the money and gliterrati. What country are u doing ur MSc? Also not some oil companies don't really send MSc like that o cos they train u from scratch while some over send it.
