Hello OP(scantee) and everyone ,

As expected, the forum serves to raise hopes.

Wouldn't mind knowing what opportunity abounds for me in the sector:
>> A recent chemical Engineering Graduate (2-1)
>> Skilled (to expert level) at AutoCAD

Hate to sound generic but I could do a whole lot of other stuffs. Those are my best two selling points, by the way.

Thanks

Hello Everyone. I have a B.SC in Geology and have had training in HSE and HUET. I desire to work offshore and would like someone to help me with the contacts(e-mail and website) of offshore companies that i could send my CV to. Also, i wouldn`t mind being linked up with people in the sector as well as keeping me abreast with job opportunities in the sector. I can also fit in very well in the area of seismic and well log data analysis. Concerning training and certification, your advise would be handy. Thanks

is a professional skill, most coy needs professional in those areas, since there are only few people that have the skill, though it might be hard for you to see a good place to do it, because most institutions is more specialised in MS Project. I knew of one institution for Lagos opp Aero Contractors Engineering Workshop MM International Airport, but i can't remember their name.

Thanks scantee, you respond almost immediately to queries. Kudos.
Yes, I did some google-ing for some Pertmaster trainings in Lagos. To be honest, they are quite on high sides, talking about money.
A 200k 3-Day training for a fresh graduate shouldn't be the next thing in line. Or what do you think?

@babaearly....It is more of experience my dear....and international certifications...if u are determined to be there u will have to pray to god to assist you...then can start from where u are....i for one as a graduate applied to an international oil servicing firm to work without being paid all to get experience in the job...i worked for good six months with they just giving me 10k for transport per month...i paid that price n guess what after 6months i was retained as a contract staff....n guess what after 6 months again i go another job with an international offshore servising firm as a staff.....determination is the key my dear.....taking actions no matter how minute they may seem towards your desire creat miracles....as for me in a space of one year i go a job/position that other guys who have been working for quite some time dont have... Its all determination.

wahoo is really high, most professional training is always expensive, i could recall when i did my fibre optic training, i paid 50k per hour, i spent ova 900k doing that, i wil advice you look for individuals that can teach you, the certificate does not matter, they hardly ask for that, all they care for is if you can handle it, or better still go and do primavela 9, if you can do that well, i might link you up for Ecvaos where such people are needed. I did both premavela & pertmaster in South Africa, is very interesting.

Permit me to drop my own suggestion here.

It all depends on what you are looking for.

Start with even an indigenous oil servicing company, get the experience and move to international staff. there are a lot of company looking for international personnel for west africa, being Nigerian, you stand a better chance than other expatriate.

I give an example,

you can start as a trainee well test technician, engineer in our indeginous company, after 2 yrs...apply to international comapany for contract work.

charges are between 150usd-1000usd per day, depending on your experience and negotiation skills.

check out rigzone website, oil consultance website (oc99) and check what they really need for international job.

its mostly drilling and production that pays off and i tell you, its a really good pay. smiley

Hey, let me help...

Whats your discipline. Most company i know take engineering discipline mostly mechanical.

higher chance if you have hnd. because its assumed that B-tech ppl usually dont last in oil servicing company.

But some company dont mind.

Take your cv to the company and drop it yourself. You can let them know that you are looking for IT placement.

Once you can beat the security guy, you are 50% achieving your mission.

How do you beat the security guys thats my secret and i dont know if i am allowed to share here. it just involve a small lie smiley
