Thanks my brother,
Yes that is my name....how in the world could you ever guess that..lol? I mean what tipped you off...lol?

I can tell that you are intelligent.
In fact, (and not to blow-up everyone's heads) Nigerians are very intelligent people (I should know)... and need to continue channeling that intellect into only positive, and beneficial things (hope I said that in love)

I took a course in college several years ago that focused on Africa. I chose it cause I wanted to learn about my people...
It was one of the best courses I had ever taken...mainly because I had an enthusiastic professor! He was actually Pakistani...so he could relate to being a foreigner in America. He was so energetic about Africa...that it got me excited! I think he had visited and loved it !

Anyhow, I will never forget the phrase, "Africa...that magnificent cake"! That sentence started off the first chapter...and I never forgot that.

Politics aside (cause I don't know anything about that aspect of Nigeria), it is a mineral-rich and fertile country....not to mention the 10th largest supplier of oil in the world....which says something amazing about that country..

Anyhow, sorry for getting off track here...I just got excited about my "other half"!
I didn't know that the Moyin Moyin originated from the Yorubas....very interesting.
Well I thank you for the future info that you will give me...very helpful!

Blessings to you.

Elementary answer my dear... Don't
YOU know I'm psychic? grin
It's a beautiful Ibo name you've
got. What state/town in Nigeria is
your dad originally from?

NBA star Victor Babatunde Oladipo of the Indiana Pacers is a Nigerian-American
and he's never been to Nigeria and only
visited Africa[i.e., South Africa] for the
first time in 2017 for the NBA Africa Game.
He plans on visiting Nigeria with his entire family
next year.

His parents are Nigerian-born and he enjoys Nigerian foods such as egusi, jollof rice, pounded
yam, just like the British-Nigerian current World Heavyweight
Champion, Anthony Olufemi Joshua
does too.

So you are NOT alone among Americans/British
of full or partial Nigerian descent who have
never visited the continent!

I enjoyed your thoughts about the
college course on Africa that you
took years ago. What was your core
study/specialisation while in college?

Did you know that there were many
foreigners[Indians, Pakistanis, British, Ghanaians,
Jamaicans, and some Americans] living and teaching in Nigerian high schools
and universities during the oil boom era
of the 1970s right through to the late 1980s
because of the strong Nigerian currency and
economy? Some eventually left Africa
for the United States and Canada to
for better opportunities in the academia!

Wow!!
Brother...I'm impressed by all of this info here! So, so much....and I love this!
I was only teasing you about my name! I basically spelled out my name except for 2 letters!
It's so funny to me that after enduring so much with the pronunciation of my name growing up...(in a city where only "1" Nigerian/Malawan family existed) and people always calling my name "weird" or "funny sounding", that now I as I've joined this site, I see my name sooo much! It's such a common name...wow! I'm so amazed!
I love that!
Thank u for the compliment...I like it too!
I used to know the older NBA players (many who are retired now),, such as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Isaiah Thomas, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, John Salley, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar etc...
However there were 2 fully African men named Hakeem Olajuwon (Nigeria) and Manute Bol (Sudan).....
I'm really not that familiar with the new crop of NBA players...but that's nice info about the player you mentioned.
See my problem was that I didn't grow up in the cities with large concentrations of Nigerian people... cry

You are free to "PM" me ...and I will answer your questions (what my degrees are in, what state my dad is from, and any other questions you may have etc.) and I can ask you some as well smiley

Love the Jackson 5 song...which is an American classic
Gotta check out Andy Williams though....and see what the song is.....may know it..may not.

They were one of the biggest selling boy bands of the 90s...pure, raw, talent.

Merry Christmas to you and yours too brother...
Lol...well no turkey for Christmas. My dad grilled Pork ribs, Chicken Wings, Sausage, and his favorite GOAT!!
I will bake a Ham... (the traditional Christmas meat) and the rest of the dishes.
Guess what?
I don't even eat meat anymore...so he threw in some roasted corn..lol...

Brilliant... brilliant post!

You must have been big on pro-basketball
in the past. Andre Iguodala [Nigerian father
and African-American mother], the Aminu
brothers[Alade Aminu and Al-Farouq Aminu
whose mother, Anjirlic is an African-American, and
paternal grandfather was a Yoruba King in Western
Nigeria], and
Ike Diogu are 4 of the Nigerian-Americans
who are the relatively new kids on the block in the
NBA.

Andre Iguodala however chose to
represent the U.S. in the 2012 Summer Olympic games in London
where he won a gold medal. The Aminu brothers: Alade, Al-Farouq,
and Ike Diogu chose to represent Nigeria in
the 2012 Olympics as well and it was a case
of Nigerian-Americans playing on both
sides of Team U.S.A versus Nigeria
in a record-breaking Olympic game of the
most cumulative scores ever [156 - 73]
in a single
olympic game!

I love the fact that you emphasized
on NOT eating meat anymore. Too
much meat leads to excess body
acidity which upsets the alkaline/acid
normal body PH balance. This leads to the
over 100 types of body cancers.

I'm big on 1960s, 70s, and 80s songs
because I grew up listening to iconic vinyl
songs in the 1970s and they remain
evergreen. This is the reason I posted
the 2 classic songs from The Jackson 5 and
Andy Williams for the Holiday season
here and I'm glad you enjoyed it. smiley

I love the Boys II Men's acapella version
of "Silent Night" that you posted on this
thread too. Hopefully other "foodies" will
enjoy listening to them because good music goes
with good food! wink

I'll do the "PM" soon.

Enjoy...

Cheers. smiley

Well...I wasn't really into basketball...cause I thought it was such a masculine sport.
Folks thought I should play cause I'm tall...but I'm too feminine for that!
My brother was obsessed though...and I kinda got to know about it through default..lol.

That's fine about the "pm".
I may not reply today...being tied up today with a bunch of stuff to do
But I will reply ...so look out for it.

Yeah music from those eras seems to be much better than what's out there now-a-days.
I hope they enjoy this acapella version too!

You take care!

Yes I had loads of fun. I woke up early to cook so I was done by 1:00pm and took a small nap before the party started at 3.

Side note: I used to work in a fast food kitchen in Nigeria when I was in imsu. That’s where I learned to cook many things at the same time and fast too.
