Soon France, Japan, Italy and some countries in the Middle East will announce.

@ RabbiDoracle, did you still think that all is well with global economic? Seriously most European countries are at the recession territory. Then what of African with Nigeria included. Things are worse now and will soon become worst. It will take minimum of 12 calendar months for recovery news to be on the ground. Globally, many people's lives were lost, workers are heavily affected, business side in the bad shape.

I just received an unconfirmed report that the CBN has adjusted the Fx sales peg to FPIs from the initial N366.70/$ to N380.20/$.
...the interpretation of this is that the apex bank(CBN) may have already devalued the currency by approx 3.7% given current realities.

The move might not be unconnected to the FPIs folks jettisoning of OMO sales by the apex bank yesterday.

This move, together with the CBN' recent guidance on stimulus(including a proposed N1.1 trillion intervention fund) to sectors with high 1st point of impact, will act to give a good measure of cushion to any feasible shock from the aftermath of the twin 'evil' of covid-19 and strain in oil price.
The next sensible thing to do is to ensure that the proposed budget amendment is done in a way that sets realistic targets, and not those "forward-looking assumed pegs" as seen in the last 2020 budget.
...then remove the 'evil' called subsidy, and re-align those accruals towards expanding/diversifying our economic base. This is the best opportunity/time to do so !!
Then enact and pass the expanded version of the PIB, and amend the Land use act, and we' ll be good to go !!
But of course, implementing these items can only be imagined with our current leaders and policy makers !!

All the same, great move from the CBN !!

For those who still think that this is not the best time to align with healthy assets/coys(selective buying with MoS compression to valuation in view) or who are still waiting on the side line in a bid to time the market, I sincerely wish u Good luck !!

The effect is surfacing gradually, first was ban of schools with public gathering, second shut down of airport, third Union bank staff to operate from their house, and other banks to join suit. Companies are postponing their AGM meeting. Let see how tomorrow NSE market will look like.

The issue affects Putin as well but don't pick up a fight with the Russians. All that can be done is just for a delegation to be sent to Putin and MbS. Moreso both rulers are friends.

That was why I said if dem act their script finish, then they will settle. And e don dey finish. Brent broke below 2016 like of 27 and reversed and the movie don dey end.

Yes Sir but the demand side of Oil is still an issue... China are recovering gradually but there’s still the risk of a wave two of attacks because of other countries getting worse and Chinese citizens in those countries can return back to China and spread it.

Some companies door in NSE market will likely locked up during tomorrow market with heavy offer. Those with early offer who want to reduce their holding for part 2 bonanza offer might be lucky.

China stock market suffer heavily within the few days of corona virus entrance, and Nigeria received the heat. China extended their holidays, and now compulsory holidays is been declared in Nigeria.

They will quarantine all of them. It is the survival of the fit now. Once those affected die out, the ones alive will be stronger.

Yes, there is the demand side which I have already factored in. There is also the supply side which will have significant impact on prices if Putin and MbS agree to cut.

The simple solution when the Wuhan issue started was for all countries to lockdown then. They didn't do it especially EU states. So they helped export most of the cases.

Worst case it is 3 months of data deterioration for countries that have not had negative growth rates. Those that have had negative growth deterioration will have to go through a prolonged recovery.

Ground works have been laid for recovery. Because all countries know that once the health crisis stops, they need to start spending as fast as possible.

Was I not the one that told guys to expect "R........ April 2020"? There will be recession in April 2020 driven largely by major economies in EU. The signs were there late last year.

Any rise you see in stock is purely liquidity driven and not about fundamentals. There will be excess cash chasing limited assets.

Mine is not to solve world problems. Mine is to position before the Tsunami of cash comes flooding the world.

Omo, I gats to surf on that Tsunami wave o. grin grin

The world seems to be starting capitalist socialism where there is capitalism but the country takes care of its citizens. Helicopter money we will see soon could involve even paying salaries like the suggestion from Denmark. This means that economic output will be zero but money will still be made/spent. This is to reduce unemployment and continue to spur spending.

End point will be massive inflation.

Yes.

US, EU and Japan deployed QE because they all had deflation (negative inflation). Prices were not rising so they needed to spend themselves out from it. So lots of money chasing few assets. This was from 2008 till 2016 before they started to tighten.

Now there is a health crisis and it has caused an economic STOP globally. You need to help businesses and the people as well. They need to spend because they are out of job. After this health issue stops, you are in a world with excessive cash. If not managed well, lots of people will take the cheap loans and bid everything. Later it will cause inflation.

How will fed react? Increase interest rates? Those with loans gets wiped out instantly. Assets will be sold off globally. Exchange rate will depreciate globally. Everybody Oso Abiola!
