You think the kidnappers are not tech savvy. These are educated people with firm knowledge of modern technology. Have you asked yourself why the police could not pinpoint their exact location after series of phone calls made? They are aware of the G.P.S tracker and cash destroyer (device that explodes and destroys the cash few minutes after collection...can be made to explode after 30mins, 1hrs or thereof). The downside is that when they think that you are trying to outsmart them by doing either of these mentioned above, then they will teach you a good lesson by killing the victim. The police know this better and always advise you to give them what you have.

As you take know all these, I dey suspect you to be either a policeman or kidnapper.

Suspect arrested
A young boy, suspected to have been used by the
kidnappers as a “sacrificial lamb” to lead the old
woman to safety after the ransom was delivered to
them on Saturday, has been arrested by security
agents to help in their investigations on the identity
of the hostage takers.

Vanguard are a disgrace!

Blackteeth: I think the best way to solve this kidnapping wahala is to seriously declare NO MORE PAYMENT OF RANSOMS.
After one or two kidnappings and no ransoms paid, it would be a thing of the past.
at times they kill their victim.in most cases pepetrator of such crimes are close relatives and bankers.in delta state, kidnapping is an occupation to those involved, even police men and women r involved in one way or the other.

Nigerian kidnappers will never kill a high profile victim. They are not terrorists and are not ready to die! Only terrorists will do that. You have no clue how it works. And they can always be traced. In fact, it is easy to trace them. Problem is our police isn't equipped for it. The kidnappers are actually not so intelligent like you are claiming. Our police force is just incompetent, that's all.

Its an insult if that woman was made to go through such trauma for just 10m Naira, These Kidnappers are so hopeless sets of humans. The hopeless police should release innocent people they arrested to save their faces. Its time for Abuja to reconsider their stance on State Police. Its time each state take their destinies into their hands.

At least we are all agreed that money exchanged hands before the release was effected. A lot of kidnappings go under reported and some of them are in error or mistaken identity - in such cases of which 1 was rumored, 150k was paid to release the guy kidnapped in error. The 150k was to cover logistics and feeding for the days he was in captivity.

Exactly!

Didn't one of the numerous articles on this affair mention that the gang had at least ten active members? What sorta person risks a kidnapping racket for a paltry million? Legislators get paid far more than that to sit in air-conditioned auditoriums and sleep.

Then you recruit men, get a disposable get-away car, acquire arms and ammunition, scout for and secure a safehouse. . . only to be fed a measly million.

It's either kidnapping ain't so lucrative after all or these criminals suffer from a lack of imagination.

And yep, i do sympathise with the poor old woman.

Edited.
. They were paid far beyond that but chose to contain the figure from the public.
