But the bottom line of my position is the the original occupiers of the land might not have been any of the two religions.

That a synagogue was located in the area doesn't pinpoint the original occupier of the place as Jews especially when Judaism is older than Islam with over 1000 years.

They might have been displaced and later embraced Islam as religion because it's relatively a newer religion.

Those shooting themselves in the foot is even Christians jumping into the argument because even the Bible supports that historically the original occupants of the land were displaced for isreal to be built!
