I am still waiting for the fool to explain to me why neo liberal economic policies are a good thing for nigeria when they have reduced the people of other countries of the world to poverty.

This idi.iot actually thinks that working in a factory and earning 5 cents and hour in a european or american multinational is a step in the right direction for nigerians - he's probably hoping for a job as a gateman in one of those multinationals that are planning to take advantage of the FTZs in lagos.
LOL I GOT TIME ON MY HANDS IS WHY I AM TOYING WITH THE HALFWIT. STRONG POINTS MADE BY YOU THERE. HEY YOU KNOW PEOPLE LIKE ROSSIKE MEASURE THE STANDARD OF A COUNTRIES FOREIGN INVESTMENTS BY HOW MANY WHITE PEOPLE THEY SEE IN THE COUNTRY. THATS HOW DUM-B THIS slowpoke IS. FOREIGN INVESTMENTS ? THEY ARE VULTURES. OF COURSE ROSSIKE THE DUMMY CAN NEVER SEE THIS. SO LONG AS HE CAN GET A GATE MAN JOB AT SHELL HE IS HAPPY. HE SEES THAT AS PROGRESS

Why don't YOU work towards setting up YOUR own factory at the FTZ and employ Nigerians and pay them decent wages?

obadiah777: WHEN THE OIL DRIES UP THE MONEY IN CIRCULATION WILL DROP. THE COUNTRY HAS A WEAK MANUFACTURING BASE SO OUR FOREIGN EXCHANGE WILL EVAPORATE. AND THAT MEANS NO MORE DISPOSABLE INCOME FROM THE TRICKLE DOWN OIL DOLLARS TO THE MASSES TO GET LUXURIES SUCH AS MOBILE PHONES AND INTERNET ETC. ALL THE COMPANIES WILL CUT OUT AFTER THAT. ALL THESE COMPANIES ARE VULTURES FEEDING ON THE DEAD ( THE DEAD WILL BE YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT A VIBRANT MANUFACTURING ECONOMY. ALL YOU DEPEND ON IS OIL. SO YOU ARE DEAD )WHEREVER THE DEAD IS, THERE WILL THE VULTURE BE. WHEREVER THE CARCASS IS, THERE WILL THE EAGLE BE.

I dont know how old you are, but it's hard understanding you or the way you reason. Look at our old currency and what do you see there? Pyramids of Groundnuts, Cocoa..etc.. Meaning Nigeria can survive without Oil, depending on if we have visionary leaders.. If the Oil wells dries up, they will have no option than to sit tight and face agriculture... The economy of Malaysia was jumped started with Palm produced they got from Nigeria.. So our leaders are just lazy, but that doesn't mean without Oil the country will die. When you say " ALL THESE COMPANIES ARE VULTURES FEEDING ON THE DEAD" you put the whole Nigerian population including yourself as stupid and only the Foreigners are wise" Yet from that same Stupid people comes Africans Richest man.... Did you watch Obama's speech? Because he wants people to come and invest in America, you also can go and invest there if you have the money as long as you play by the rules so I dont know where you get your theories that Investors are Vultures... Did you even know how much MTN paid the Nigerian government to be there? Yet you have Glo..etc meaning you are very free to ditch MTN.. there are so many alternatives that you dont have to stick with any one you dont like, I could go on.. but sitting and painting an apocaliptic theory about Foreign investors just dont cut it.. You dont have to patronize your percieved Vultures... Martin Luther King and co trekked many miles and boycotted public transport because they want changes which they finally got, so if you see a problem Fix it! At least start with yourself first otherwise it becomes noise making..Like I said before a Public Forum is a place to discuss, debate and learn in the process, and not a place to argue or believe you must be RIGHT all the time. They only told you the project is not government funded but it is. Where do you think some of the investors got the money from? The project is being funded by people who get inflated contracts from Lagos Government. Tinubu has a stake in it. Fashola and Afikuyomi also have stakes in it. But these people will not tell you that. I will prefer Fashola as President because he is better than the slopoke we have right now but Fashola is not 100% clean. I can tell you Fashola does have good intention for Nigeria.

This is why i regard you as the fool of the century, do you know anything about the history of Haiti and its economy? are you aware that it was the richest french colony until it was destroyed by europe and america after it was emancipated by its former slaves? You like to speak as if you know anything about world history but allyou do is foolishly parrot the shi.t that you learnt at that halfbaked technical college you attended in Aba. Prior to its economic collapse it had a booming economy France actually built its wealth on the Haitian economy - if Haiti were as poor as you are implying do you think the US would set up factories there?

Look Mr Man, I can school you on Haiti's history. Of course they were sabotaged by the USA and France. What the hell has that got to do with Eko Atlantic City?

this foreign investment that you ignorantly think is a good thing for nigeria is the reason that Haiti's economy has been brought to its knees

No. Haiti was brought to its knees because right from her independence in 1804, she was forced to pay over 80% of her annual earnings to France as 'compensation' for the latter's loss of 'her' territory. Payments that only stopped in the 1960s. In addition to the fact that US marines helped topple at least two democratically elected leaders of that country, to install kleptocratic dictators.

Those are the main causes of Haiti's condition.

Saint Michael. I'm sure if they put you in power you'd be clean as a whistle.

of course i would, but im not suprised that you do not expect much from your leaders as you are used to being shafted on a regular basis by your govt.

Compound idio.t, ''neo-liberal policies'' are what EVERY NATION ON EARTH is practicing, or looking to practice. Even Iran, Cuba, Russia and China. The only exception is North Korea.

You like to pretend that you know it all but im afraid the above statement gives you away as just another sheep with herd mentality - does it mean that nigeria must simply follow an economic policy created by a group of US economists simply because every other nation has been corralled into adopting that policy, have you any idea of the damage these policies have inflicted on various african economies? and dumbo, Cuba is definitely not implementing neo liberal economic policies infact its failure to implement such policies enabled it to provide free health care and education to its citizens, britain has been operating a combination of neo liberal and socialist economic policies only in the last 30 years hence the creation of the NHS and the welfare state in the 1940s so your statement that every nation on the earth is practising it is complete bollocks.

So what are you suggesting? That Nigeria goes communist or socialist like North Korea? Are you a communist? Sorry, your system has been tried and has failed spectacularly around the world. One African nation that tried to do away with ''neo liberal policies'' and embrace socialism was Tanzania, under Julius Nyerere. It was a spectacular failure from which they're yet to fully recover, 30 years after the event. Is this what you're recommending for Nigeria?

i am advocating a system which creates a fair and just society and right now socialism is the closest to such a system - a society where no child has to go to bed starving, where the state can not just bulldoze your home and leave you to become a destitute overnight, a state that puts in place a social safety net to ensure that no one is homeless, illiterate , or unemployed, cuba has successfully run a socialist state since the 1950s and its been able to provide free healthcare and education to all its citizens -something capitalist nigeria has failed woefully to do since its adoption of SAP and other neo liberal economic policies.
Chavez has been able to provide free healthcare and educattion to the citizens of his country with oil revenues, he has also nationalised venezuela's oil industry ensuring a fairer and more equitable system for his people - this is something that was unheard of when the previous theiving elite were running Venezuela.

And speaking of spectacular failures, europe and america are currently facing the worst economic crisis since the 1920s as a result of the complete and utter failure of capitalism, therefore i think it is a bit rich of you to dismiss socialism as a failure when the failures of capitalism are staring you right in the face.

the last time i checked it was the responsibility of a govt to implement policies that are in the interest of their populace -it is not my job to create jobs in a country whose govt does nothing but steal from its own people, govts of progressive countries provide incentives for business creation they dont leave it to individuals to do that on their behalf, so you expect me as one individual to compete with multinational corporations like walmart whose operating income is over $20billion and whose net income is over $15 billion for contracts in free trade zones - honestly next time you start calling people dunce take a look in the mirror and you'll see one staring back at you.

Haiti was reduced to an economic basket case by way of economic enslavement - nigeria is being reduced to an economic basket case by way of economic enslavement. America has invested in Haiti in the same way that it is planning on investing in nigeria - the money only flows in one direction - out of the exploited country and into the coffers of european and american banks and corporations.
