Thats the mistake you people make. ACN rep initiated it and supported by all ACN and some other rep from opposition parties, but PDP in its strugle to ensure that life is meaniless to some fool who could not understand what's going on in the legislature, the bill failed because PDP have majourity while other parties are of minority ok.

wise_many2k:

i'm in total support of the federal legislators. Dis bill has ill intent...and i'm sure some ppl in d executive arm of govt wld have been licking their lips, getting ready to quote that out of 170mllion Nigerians there are 70million eligible unemployed graduates for the scheme.... they get to pay only 10million....pocket the money for 60milliom ppl....EFCC will arrest them in the year 2025....dey get convicted a jailed 2years for stealing 25trillion Naira belonging to naija youths...but given an option to sweep oshodi oke in lieu of the jail term....silly country

I also support the rejection of that bill..

Nigeria is a country that puts the cart before the horse..

I am all for social welfare and benefits, but not at this time when most state primary schools sef have no records of the total number of students they have. The loophole if such a bill were to be allowed to go through would be bigger than the Canal that killed many people during the Ikeja Cantonment bombing. The fraud would make the subsidy scam look like pick-pocketing.

Let the government first of all tidy up their house.

Proper Databases should be set up.

Power! Power!! Power!!! We need electricity.

I.T as well needs to be enhanced. Ordinary to get Drivers License takes so long because of the excuse 'Our servers are down'.

Until a credible census is taken in this country, proper birth and death registrys are set up, we have proper figures with a less than 5% margin of error, this bill should remain dead. Look at the money that Nigerians made from the Amnesty programme. I know a woman who made so much money that now all her cars carry custom plates and she now has Mopol escorts. All from ordinary Amnesty o!! Talkless of unemployment benefits.

I SAY NO TO THAT BILL!!!!!

I know we are suffering in this country, but I will not willing open up more avenues for us to get robbed all in the name of social welfare..

I do not support the idea of creating a generation of youths depending on the government, but this bill should'nt have fallen flat on it's face. It should have tweeked to a government job creation scheme for those unemployed youths to "earn" their money.

Your attempt to engage in your cheap propaganda is void and defeated . . . .Read the below and note that HON. FALEKE JAMES ABIODUN is the ACN House of Rep. Member representing the Ikeja Federal Constituency.

Also, James Faleke said providing such monetary incentives could only compound the economic challenges facing the country.

According to him, since the Nigerian economy was not production-based, industrial revival efforts would be defeated. “Rather than turn our unemployed youths into lazy ones, government should channel the monthly stipends towards the revival of our industries”, he said.

The other important bill which seeks to "amend the Consumer Protection Council Act to modify its composition; widen the scope of its functions and powers so as to provide for a broader and more effective Council" was initiated by a PDP rep.

So i wonder what cheap message you were strenuously trying to pass . . . .

When the ACN rep members move and support a crunchy and radical motion to cut the excessive bonuses of the legislature . . .I go follow you hail them wella. until then all na chop chop dem be . . .

Nigerians are ridiculous. So some people in this forum are really hoping for such bill to be passed? In my own opinion that would have been the Part 2 of the Pension fraud scripted waiting to be acted.Nigerians are yet to digest the Maina and CO fraud in the Police pension now the Legislator that raised the motion wants to create another debacle.Thank God it did'nt scale through

There is no self centered in this business..

The beneficiaries from a scheme like this would only be them, the Lesgislative.

Nigeria is too porous for such a scheme.

How many truly unemployed youths are in Nigeria and how was the stat obtained!

Exactly what I had in mind. We do not even have a proper database....NIMC has been talking about doing just that but it still remains to be seen how effective their actions will be...we had an opportunity during the National Identity Card Scheme but it became an avenue to pocket huge sums...
How many systems does NIMC have, do they even have a R&grin I.T Dept that will seek to ensure that the various databases are merged and how loopholes can be closed? Why did NCC allow the SIM registration to collapse?
Who wouldn't want turn to an unemployed graduate just to collect money since there are no checks in place?
