There are only 2 Military Schools in Nigeria. One by the Nigerian AirForce: Airforce Military School (AFMS) Jos and the First every by the Army: Nigerian Military School (NMS) Zaria. These 2 schools are the only schools being controlled by the Ministry of Defence. For AFMS about 200 students are admitted 3 each fro each state in nigeria but about 70 can stand the hardship of 6yrs. These students are being paid like most serving militarY soldiers and stand out. After graduation they become Ex-boys but fewer still become Ex-Jam (Ex-Junior Airmen). 1 Like |

Two things i cant forget about my boarding school are the nasty smelling toilets and those awful inspections on some saturday mornings where you scrub and clean like a jackal. Funny enough i still dream about the toilets in my boarding school especially the one on jss3 block and i have developed a phobia for using public toilets as a result of that. |

Aro Computer Ce: I was in the hostel during my university days(1989 - 2005). First I was very fortunate in 100L to 300L because as a junior I had no control over the activities of our room (3 students in a room). God so arranged it that from the beginning of each semester, all my room mates will verbally agree to what is known as codes of conduct. This was fairly observed. Whenever any member tries to deviate, he will be cautioned. This culture continued each session even though room mates changed. W In my 400L - 500L, when my voice was now strong as a senior, I just continued the good culture I had inherited from my christian predecessors. But the bathroom and toilets were eye - sore. Most at times we wait till the cleaners finish washing the toilets in the morning, then we rush in to defecate. Guy, university 4rm 1989-2005...ah ah, guy pikin wey them born wen u enter Uni join u for there o... |

My first day baptism: a senior came and asked me of my name. I told hih a very long name then he came back after 30 minutes to write dt my long name with my sugar. I used around 68 out of 90 cubes to spell it. Then by the second term I decided to come with granulated sugar so when I was asked to write my name with my sugar then I started sprinkling granulated sugar on the floor and nobody was able to pack the sugar. Come see beating! A beg I can't say what followed cos I lost consciousness and all seniors involved were pushed for good 6 weeks and were expelled at the end of the day. And you know what is funny? One of them is working under me now. 6 Likes |

Simply put. If u never attended a boarding school, then your secondary school experience is not complete. Its your type that have almost no story to tell when people gather to tell tales of their secondary school life. The adventures, trials, are J̶̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊τ̲̣̣̥ priceless. In my family, going to boarding school is almost a rite of passage. From my mum to my dad (st gregory's college). Down to all the children (all the boys went to st gregs, kinda cool seeing my dads pic next to michael murray bruce and funsho williams standing like mischievous children with their afro hair) My fondest punishments.. when the head boy asked all ss1 boys 2 get under his bunk while he slept on top of us. (We where more than 20 fighting for a space under the bunk! ) Early morning (4am) prayers when chapel prefect will force boys 2 sing with their smelly smelly mouth Ss3 rebellion, using gorilla warfare, we packed all our house master's cloths and dumped into the shi*t filled toilet Learning how to hold sh*t in my tummy for a week b'cos of how bad d toilets where Becoming a "toilet marshal" in ss1, and learning how 2 pound the shi*t incase the toilet blocked and the W/c was filled 2 the brim (a bit like pounding yam ) Men the list is indeed endless, but it took out the butta" from me and made 100 percent. As for me FGC Idoani was HELL on earth, how I managed to survive Jss1 - Jss3 before I had a transfer is a big mystery to me. Ss 1- ss 3 FGC Ijanikin Lagos was HEAVEN on earth. A very huge difference. |

My boarding school experience involved the good, bad and ugly Those junior days of escaping from seniors to avoid errands, crawling under tunnels. I can vividly remember being woken by a senior early in the morning to fetch water which I had escaped the previous day, and on my way back I didn't know I was sleep-walking, only to find myself inside a ditch with the bucket shattered!!! It was a sad morning. But the funny part was that, when I go back home on holidays I miss the whole craziness but on the day of resumption my heart will be beating fast as am approaching the school gate. The good part, goofing around with friends, picking on seniors, scaling fence In the end I really have fun memories I cherish for those great 6 years, I learned a lot; how to be strong, tend for myself, strive in strange and unfavorable conditions. Lessons I don't regret learning |

poster asked for experience(s) . - - - - - - - I can count the amount of times I slept on a mattress while in FGC IDOANI ; always resumed each term with a new mattress and seniors kept on selling our mattresses in town . of course we juniors always ended up sleeping in what we called "Moses style" Tying the for ends of our wrapper to the four points of our bunks and happily sleeping in it like a refugee. 1 Like |
