Resurrection or , ", Jesus himself stood in their midst, and said unto them, Peace be unto you, But they were terrified, and supposing that they were seeing a spirit, And he said unto them,, 'Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me and see; for a spirit has no flesh and bones, as you see me have', And showed them his hands and feet, And while they yet believed not for joy and wondered, he said unto them, 'Have ye here any meat?', And they gave him a piece of broiled fish, and of a honeycomb, And he took it, and did eat before them." (Luke 24:36-43) "Please tell me as to who is lying? Is it Jesus or a thousand million Christians of the world? Jesus says: "No!" to his being resurrected, and all of you say: "Yes!" Whom are we Muslims to believe, Jesus or his so called disciples? We Muslims would rather believe the Master. Did he not say: "The disciple is not greater than the Master."? (Matthew 10:24) |

The police and operatives of the State Security Service in the Federal Capital Territory have arrested a total of 21 suspected kidnappers and 25 cultists. While the Delta Command of the Police picked up 17 suspected kidnappers and 25 culprits from different parts of the state, the SSS in Abuja nabbed four suspects who allegedly abducted a civil servant and a businessman. The Delta suspects were paraded before newsmen in Asaba, the state capital, on Tuesday, as a prelude to their arraignment in court for prosecution. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Yakubu Alkali, gave the names of the victims of the suspected kidnappers to include Madams Afuenya Abaja and Elizabeth Ngeligu as well as Mrs. Stella Dafinone, Mrs. Queen Ogboru and Mrs. Malechi Odozi. Alkali said the suspected kidnappers were apprehended from different locations in the state, adding that the feat was made possible by the support of members of the public who volunteered information to the security agency. He said the gang which abducted Queen and Odozi had demanded N400,000 and N30,000 ransom sums respectively, before the police swooped on them at a hide-out. He identified the suspected kidnappers to include, Fedelis Ojugbale, Chinedu Oruya, Ediki Ogeraga, Julius Onoameya, Odrehohwo Egieta, Lucky Atunusha, Henry Owokpite, Favour Akpowma and Nicholas Odu. Others, according to Delta CP are: Fidelis Ochuko, Kelvin Itejere, Kelly Ochuko Jonathan, Joseph Enakpodia, and Daniel Akeghe. Furthermore, Alkali stated that Madams Abaja and Ngeligu were kidnapped by a12-man gang at Umukwuata in Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state. In the Abuja arrests, the suspects were at the point of collecting the N500,000 ransom they demanded from the families of their victims when they were nabbed by SSS operatives. The members of the kidnap gang include Ifeanyi Chukwuka, Ezebunwa Ogbonna (a.k.a Oceanic), Nkem Nna, and James Chinweikpe. Parading the suspected kidnappers in Abuja on Tuesday, the SSS Director, FCT Command Headquarters, Mr. Mike Fubara, said they had asked for a ransom of N50m through their leader, identified as Chukwudi who was still at large, before reducing it to N.5m. According to Fubara, investigation have shown that most kidnap cases in the FCT were perpetrated by non –residents who lodged in small hotels in the suburbs, posing as construction workers which enable them to come and go at will without the management of such hotels suspecting their activities. While promising that the service, alongside other security operatives would do everything possible to rid the FCT of such hoodlums, Fubara appealed to members of the public to always alert security operatives on the activities of persons they suspect. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201007214145340 |

Northern leaders on Thursday rejected zoning of the presidency, saying it was unnecessary in producing the next president of the country in 2011. The leaders, at the Northern Political Summit, said at the end of their meeting in Kaduna, that the Peoples Democratic Party should allow the 1999 Constitution to guide it in picking its presidential candidate. They advised in a statement read on their behalf by a former Minister of Information and Orientation, Prof. Jerry Gana, that President Goodluck Jonathan should not be prevented from contesting the 2011 poll. Some of the group’s members are the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Bayero Nafada; a former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ibrahim Mantu; an ex-PDP National Chairman, Chief Barnabas Gemade; and two former Chiefs of Army Staff — Lt. Generals Salihu Ibrahim and Ishaya Bamaiyi. The group also has a former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Michael Anodoaka; ex-Plateau State Governor Joshua Dariye; a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Salisu Buhari; and a former Benue State Governor, Mr. George Akume, as members. Other members of the NPS are Prince Abubakar Audu; Prof. Iya Abubakar; Senator Walid Jubril; Senator Abubakar Sodangi; Senator Jonathan Zwingina; Lt.Gen. Ishaya Bakut; Col Bala Mande ; Maj.- Gen. Lawrence Onoja (retd.); Paul Wampana; Alhaji Bala Bwari and Alhaji Yusuf Aitogu. Another former Governor of Plateau State, Ambassador Fidelis Tapgun; former Minister of Finance, Dr. Mukhtar Mansur; and ex- Niger State Deputy Governor Nuhu Zagbayi, are also members of the group. In the statement, they also advised the PDP to ensure that the conduct of its primaries was done in a way that the best candidate emerged the flagbearer of the party for the presidential election. They said, “The summit resolve that the zoning that produced in the presidency of Alhaji Umaru Yar‘Adua and President Jonathan is an inseparable ticket and therefore, the demise of one does not invalidate the privileges of the remaining beneficiary of that zoning. “The summit called on the leadership of the PDP to allow superior provision of the Nigerian constitution to guide the party in producing guidelines and regulations for the conduct of primaries.” The leaders urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that next year‘s elections were conducted in a credible manner. At the summit, the founding Chairman of the PDP, Chief Solomon, said that zoning was not meant to be a permanent arrangement in 1999. He said, “Zoning was never meant to be a permanent feature of our democracy. Surely, the day is coming when both our nation and our democracy would become as mature as to make zoning most unnecessary.” Also, Nafada said that the current unfavourable political situation in which the North had found itself was a product of fate and the dictates of the constitution following the death of former President Umaru Yar‘Adua. He added that this fate should be accepted by the North, saying that the region should focus on development rather than bickering on power rotation. According to him, the region should see its current situation as a price that is not too much to pay in the interest of a united Nigeria. Similarly, a former Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, Alhaji Hassan Adamu, enjoined the North to remain calm as the region would continue to play a decisive role in the emergence of the nation‘s leaders. Adamu said, “It is on record that nobody can become president of Nigeria without the support of the North. So, it is important that we lead the debate for the unity, fairness, justice and brotherhood.” Earlier in his welcome address, the Kaduna State Governor, Mr. Patrick Yakowa, had said that whatever method the ruling party used in picking its presidential candidate should be in the line with of the Nigerian constitution. He said: ”Many countries of the world are fast reviewing their positions with a view to being first class players in the globalization arrangements where the dream of the late Martin Luther King of looking forward some day to being in a nation where his little children would be judged by the content of their character and not the colour of their skin holding sway. We in the North, in particular, and Nigeria, in general, should be mindful of that and go for justice, unity and national integration of our country in this Roadmap.” But there were protests at the venue of the summit by a group which insisted that a Northerner should be elected as the next President of the country The protesters, displaying placards denouncing opposition to zoning , were on the road leading to the International Trade Fair Complex, the venue of the summit. They were, however prevented by the police from entering the venue as they chanted anti-Jonathan slogans. Also on Thursday, the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on National Assembly Matters, Sen. Abba Aji, said that a former dictator, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retd), would not contest the 2011 presidential election with Jonathan. He hinted that the former military leader might withdraw from the race anytime from now because of Jonathan. Aji, who spoke with journalists in his office in Abuja on Thursday, is the chairman of Friends of Democracy, a coalition of groups drumming support for Jonathan. He said, ” Babangida is not just a member of the PDP but also a well- respected leader of the party. We respect him a lot because he has made a lot of political sacrifices before. He has also made a lot of personal sacrifices too. “Remember he had stepped side before and at the time he stepped aside he was even in military uniform. Today, he is a seasoned politician, so he has even more reasons now to step aside. He has done it before and he will do it again.” Meanwhile, the Action Congress on Thursday said it would field a “very qualified candidate” against Jonathan if he (Jonathan) was picked as the PDP candidate. The Chairman of AC, Chief Adebisi Akande, at a press conference in Abuja on Friday said, “If he (Jonathan) decides to contest and is nominated by his party, fair enough; he will throw his hat into the ring and we will throw our own hat into the ring against him.” http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201007163181832 |

Chairman, Lagos State council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Mr. Wahab Oba The Chairman of the Lagos State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Mr. Wahab Oba, on Wednesday morning spoke from an unknown location, where he and four others are being kept by a gang of kidnappers. He said in a telephone conversation with the National President of the NUJ, Mallam Mohammed Garba, that the kidnappers had so far treated them well since they were seized in Abia State on Sunday. But he urged Nigerians to pray for their quick release because there was nothing better than freedom. The other journalists kidnapped by the gunmen at Umuafor Ukwu, Obingwa Local Government Area are — the Assistant Secretary of the Lagos State council of the NUJ, Mr. Sylva Okeke; Secretary, NUJ Zone G, Mr. Adolphus Okonkwo; and a member, Mr. Shola Oyeyipo. They were returning from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State after a National Executive Council meeting of the union when they were kidnapped along with their driver, Mr. Azeez Abdulrauf. Part of the conversation between Oba and Garba was relayed to a delegation from the Lagos State Government by the state NUJ council Vice-Chairman, Mr. Deji Elumoye. Elumoye said the conversation between Oba and Garba went thus, “We are okay in the hideout. They have treated us well so far. There has not been any form of harm done to us; but nothing is as good as having your freedom. Please pray for us.” The Leader of the Lagos State delegation and Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, urged the Federal Government to immediately put in place, steps to curb the rising wave of poverty in the country. The Council of Lagos State Indigenes, led by its President, Mr. Sumbo Onitiri, was also at the NUJ secretariat on a solidarity visit. Expressing surprise over the incident, the council called on the National Assembly to urgently pass the anti-terrorism bill pending before it, as a way of fighting the scourge. Earlier, a delegation of the state NUJ officials, had paid a solidarity visit to the families of the kidnapped journalists at Journalists’ Estate, Arepo, Ogun State. As at 9.30pm on Wednesday, the whereabouts of the journalists and their driver were still unknown but a source told one of our correspondents that the kidnappers insisted on collecting N250m as ransom before they could free them. Although the source hinted that the captives might be freed last night, Garba confirmed that the kidnappers had refused to back down on their demand. He said, “We are in touch with them (kidnappers), I still spoke with them this (Wednesday) afternoon but they insisted on their demand for N250m. “ We don’t know where are we going to get such an amount of money; but we are still talking.” The NUJ President, who had on Tuesday night relocated to Umuahia, the Abia State capital, also confirmed that he was in touch with the kidnapped journalists. “I spoke with Wahab this (Wednesday) morning, he sounded okay. The others are okay too,” he said. But Onovo, who reiterated the determination of the police to apprehend the kidnappers and free Oba and others, warned against the payment of ransom to secure the release of kidnap victims. He said in a statement quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday that ransom encouraged kidnapping The statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, added that the IG “frowned seriously at the attitude of some citizens who pay ransom to kidnappers, to secure the release of their beloved ones.” According to Ojukwu, Onovo warned that the police would take “serious action against persons who encourage the vice (kidnapping)” by such payment. He urged that cases of abduction should be reported promptly to the police. “The Nigeria Police Force has over 400 kidnappers in its custody and had rescued many victims from the clutches of criminal,” Ojukwu added. Onovo, who addressed officers and men of the Imo State Police Command, took a swipe at the police commands in the South-East. He said that it was regrettable that kidnappers and armed robbers were having their way in spite of the many police checkpoints on the highways in the zone. The IG said the police had no reason to fail in the execution of their duties because they were now better equipped to fight crime. He attributed the increasing wave of crime to the lack of commitment to duty by many policemen. Onovo said, “You know what our mandates are. You have done well in maintaining peace and order. But you have failed in preventing crimes. There are over 5,000 policemen in this state. “I can’t understand how kidnappers abduct people in Abia State, pass through Imo State to Anambra State without being arrested. “I can’t understand how kidnappers enter churches and kidnap innocent worshippers. You can’t tell me that not even one person among you knows where these people are.” Onovo, who is touring the commands in Zone 9 of the NPF, expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the police within the past one year. Recalling the kidnapping of four journalists and their driver in Abia State, the IG said he was optimistic that they (the journalists and their driver) would soon regain their freedom. He put the figure of kidnap suspects being prosecuted in the zone at 350. The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aloysuis Okorie, had earlier told Onovo that more than 600 persons were arrested for various crimes within the past one year in the state. Okorie disclosed that five policemen died during gun duel with armed robbers during the period. |
If we say that Jesus is one of the equal persons that make up God, then we are not speaking the truth, rather we are following the doctrines of man and demon. Jesus taught us clearly that his God is his God and that he is greater than himself. To honor Jesus is to believe the truth about him and believe his own words. John 14:28 (English-NIV) confirms this . "You heard me say, `I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. |
Even Satan didn't refer to Jesus as God but rather the Son of God. See Matthew 4:3-6 (English-NIV) 3 The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." 4 Jesus answered, "It is written: `Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." 5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written: "`He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.' |
Matthew 3:17 (English-NIV) "And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased" If the Father is God, then who is Jesus and where did he come from ? Again the scriptures are very clear with the identity of Jesus. Jesus asked this very question himself to Peter and Jesus commended Peter for his answer, in fact Jesus built his Church on this Truth and it is a pillar of the foundation that was laid by Jesus and the Apostles. To preach that Jesus is not the the Son of God and the Christ is to preach another gospel. In Matthew 16:13-17 (English-NIV) it says 13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?" 14 They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets." 15 "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" 16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. Notice that Peter didn't say to Jesus, "You are God". If Jesus were God then this would have been the perfect opportunity to declare that. Many people today given this opportunity would probably declare that Jesus is God. So why didn't Peter just say that Jesus was God as most who believe in the Trinity would have. Because this revelation didn't come from man, but from the Father. |

ASHLEY COLE is set to end his English hell with a £30million move to Real Madrid. Defender Cole, 29, looks certain to team up with his former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho at the Bernabeu. Real's World Cup-winning keeper Iker Casillas revealed: "From what I am hearing the signs look good. "I have only briefly spoken to people at the club but I am confident that he can be a Real Madrid player next year. "I think it will be the right move for him both professionally and personally." Chelsea left-back Cole has become a figure of hate since splitting with wife Cheryl and being exposed sending a message to pals saying he hated England and the people. Mourinho signed Cole for Chelsea from Arsenal in 2006. Spain stopper Casillas, 29, added: "A clean break from England is hopefully something he is very interested in. "It will be his last big contract and who better to sign for than his old coach Mourinho at Real. "He will know better than anybody this club will be successful under Jose. "Jose has proved he buys players and makes them the very best in the world in their position. "With Ashley he doesn't need to do that because he's already the best left-back in the world. "Jose knows all about him and it comes as no surprise to me he is very much on Madrid's radar." The Qur'an reveals that Prophet Jesus (pbuh) called on his people in the following manner: …O Tribe of Israel. Worship God, my Lord and your Lord… (Surat al-Ma'ida: 72) Such statements by Prophet Jesus (pbuh) calling people to belief in the one God are still to be found in the otherwise corrupted Gospels of the New Testament. For instance, according to the Gospel of Saint Mark, Prophet Jesus (pbuh) gave the following reply to a Jew who asked him which commandment was the most important: "The most important one,"answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' (Mark 12:29-30) Indeed, the "oneness of God" appears as an essential article of faith in the New Testament -both in the four Gospels and in the writings and letters of the apostles, which condemns all forms of polytheism, trinitarianism, and paganism, as does the Old Testament. Those who think that there are other deities besides God are called to monotheism throughout the New Testament. Some of these passages read as follows: , [Jesus said to him:] "The Lord our God, the Lord is One." "Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You are right in saying that God is One and there is no other but Him. (Mark 12:29-32) … God is One. (Galatians 3:20) [They] exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles…They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator, Who is forever praised. (Romans 1:23-25) … for us there is but One God, from Whom all things came and for Whom we live. (1 Corinthians 8:6) We know that an idol is nothing at all in the world and that there is no God but One, (1 Corinthians 8:4) And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshipped God, saying: "We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One Who is and Who was , (Revelation 11:16-17) |
