shymexx: Do you just talk for talking sake? Westerners gave been going to the country for a long time although there's restriction on journalists. An American nba star recently went to north Korea. Google if you doubt. Ambassadors of different countries based there tell the tales of the suffering. Their neighbors to the sou tell the tales of suffering. As a matter of fact the reason why the leader is sanctioning the bomb is because of the embargoes placed on the country by the west. North Korea is poor. And the country's government is masturbating itself thinking it can defeat the west If you believe they can, that's just sad. 2 Likes |

http://news.yahoo.com/nkorea-orSEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un warned Friday that his rocket forces were ready "to settle accounts with the U.S.," unleashing a new round of bellicose rhetoric after U.S. nuclear-capable B-2 bombers dropped dummy munitions in joint military drills with South Korea. Kim's warning, and the litany of threats that have preceded it, don't indicate an imminent war. In fact, they're most likely meant to coerce South Korea into softening its policies, win direct talks and aid from Washington, and strengthen the young leader's credentials and image at home. But the threats from North Korea and rising animosity from the rivals that have followed U.N. sanctions over Pyongyang's Feb. 12 nuclear test do raise worries of a misjudgment leading to a clash. Kim "convened an urgent operation meeting" of senior generals just after midnight, signed a rocket preparation plan and ordered his forces on standby to strike the U.S. mainland, South Korea, Guam and Hawaii, state media reported. Kim said "the time has come to settle accounts with the U.S. imperialists in view of the prevailing situation," according to a report by the North's official Korean Central News Agency. Later Friday at the main square in Pyongyang, tens of thousands of North Koreans turned out for a 90-minute mass rally in support of Kim's call to arms. Men and women, many of them in olive drab uniforms, stood in arrow-straight lines, fists raised as they chanted, "Death to the U.S. imperialists." Placards in the plaza bore harsh words for South Korea as well, including, "Let's rip the puppet traitors to death!" Small North Korean warships, including patrol boats, conducted maritime drills off both coasts of North Korea near the border with South Korea on Thursday, South Korean Defense Ministry spokesman Kim Min-seok said in a briefing Friday. He didn't provide more details. The spokesman said that South Korea's military was mindful of the possibility that North Korean drills could lead to an actual provocation. He also said that the South Korean and U.S. militaries are watching closely for any signs of missile launch preparations in North Korea. He didn't elaborate. North Korea, which says it considers the U.S.-South Korean military drills preparations for invasion, has pumped out a string of threats in state media. In the most dramatic case, Pyongyang made the highly improbable vow to nuke the United States. On Friday, state media released a photo of Kim and his senior generals huddled in front of a map showing routes for envisioned strikes against cities on both American coasts. The map bore the title "U.S. Mainland Strike Plan." Portions of the photo appeared to be manipulated, though an intriguing detail — a bandage on Kim's left arm — appeared to be real. Experts believe the country is years away from developing nuclear-tipped missiles that could strike the United States. Many say they've also seen no evidence that Pyongyang has long-range missiles that can hit the U.S. mainland. Still, there are fears of a localized conflict, such as a naval skirmish in disputed Yellow Sea waters. Such naval clashes have happened three times since 1999. There's also the danger that such a clash could escalate. Seoul has vowed to hit back hard the next time it is attacked. North Korea's threats are also worrisome because of its arsenal of short- and mid-range missiles that can hit targets in South Korea and Japan. Seoul is only a short drive from the heavily armed border separating the Koreas. "The North can fire 500,000 rounds of artillery on Seoul in the first hour of a conflict," analysts Victor Cha and David Kang wrote recently for Foreign Policy magazine. They also note that North Korea has a history of testing new South Korean leaders; President Park Geun-hye took office late last month. "Since 1992, the North has welcomed these five new leaders by disturbing the peace," they wrote. U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel told reporters Thursday that the decision to send B-2 bombers to join the military drills was part of normal exercises and not intended to provoke North Korea. Hagel acknowledged, however, that North Korea's belligerent tones and actions in recent weeks have ratcheted up the danger in the region, "and we have to understand that reality." U.S. Forces Korea said the B-2 stealth bombers flew from a U.S. air base in Missouri and dropped dummy munitions on an uninhabited South Korean island range on Thursday before returning home. The Pentagon said this was the first time a B-2 had dropped dummy munitions over South Korea, and later added that it was unclear whether there had ever been any B-2 flights there at all. The statement follows an earlier U.S. announcement that nuclear-capable B-52 bombers participated in the joint military drills. Pyongyang uses the U.S. nuclear arsenal as a justification for its own push for nuclear weapons. It claims that U.S. nuclear firepower is a threat to its existence and provocation. The two Missouri-based stealth bombers used in the South Korean drills probably weren't nuclear-armed, but experts say they're the aircraft that would likely be sent if Washington ever decides it does want to drop nuclear bombs on North Korea. The United States doesn't forward-deploy nuclear weapons in South Korea, Okinawa, Guam or Hawaii. "The B-2 can reach targets from North Korea to Iran directly from Missouri, which is what the United States did in the early stages of operations against Yugoslavia, Afghanistan and Iraq," analyst Jeffrey Lewis wrote in a post on ArmsControlWonk.com earlier this monthders-rocket-prep-us-b-2-drill-000429063.html 2 Likes |

America is that country most countries admire but secretly detest for their show of arrogance. Both sides will experience casualties but seeing that America values the lives of its citizens, you do the maths as to who would have victory based on deaths. That said, I really don't think WW3 is imminent... there's just too much at stake on either side of the line as well as for the allied nations. 1 Like |

cap28: You've been smoking the Pipe for too long bruv! North Korea is not the aggressor, but it threatens to turn the South into a "Sea of flames"? North Korea is not the aggressor, but it threatens to strike US bases in Guam and Hawai? North Korea is not the aggressor, but it deliberately chooses to nullify all peace agreements it's had with the South and shut down all communication points? North Korea is not the aggressor, but it continues to defy the UN by launching long range missiles and testing nuclear weapons? despite the fact that the US has consistently stepped in the way of Japan and South Korea developing similar capabilities? North Korea is not the aggressor, but it puts its rocket launchers on stand-by and the supreme command (a division only active in war times) was reactivated to give orders for front line military to stand alert? North korea is not the aggressor, but it consistently warns the US of a nuclear Armageddon, releasing propaganda videos of how it intends to set the US of A into a sea of fire? What is America supposed to do eh? Sit by and watch like a Gentleman? and then what? Iran and the rest would laugh hard how how cowardly Uncle Sam has become of late? 5 Likes |

bookface:I dont know if you know this but the US is bankrupt - it does not generate enough revenue to finance its huge military spending and guess who they go to to make up the difference? Yeah you guessed it China. China already holds over $3trillion worth of US bonds which are being devalued daily because of inflation - as a result China wants out of the dollar - China does not need US markets as much as you think - they have alternative markets in asia, africa and europe which can easily take the place of the united states, also china is fed up with having to indirectly finance the united states war machine - the minute the US can not finance its war machine it will have to close its 700 military bases and withdraw its troops from all the countries around the world - this will then spell the end of the US's empire - this is what the US are trying to avoid, therefore the quicker they can provoke a third world war the easier it will be for them to delay their decline. 3 Likes |

This is going to be a proxy war that will decimate USA economically, and hurt her ego worldwide. China is rallying the BRICS and allies to dump the Dollars in 2015, then USA will lose her grip on world's economy. They can not lift debt ceiling for ever and China has been buying up every gold reserve. It is only too soon that USA will realize that the entire world has turned their back against them, cos now people have a choice, a economically more sound country that is ready to provide credit facilities and grants without meddling in local sovereign politics. 1 Like |

If NK decides to wipe off South off the World map, then USA decides to reciprocate, then its "pyrrhic victory". South Koreans have more to gain in reconciling with their brother nation, cos in the end, America, the instigator will be too far to redeem them in the first 5 seconds of the fall out. And America should cease using North Korea as a bait against China. How many alternative sources have you consulted for a balanced view of what is really going on. What would NOrth Korea gain from instigating a military confrontation with the united states? cap28: Most of you don't understand the nature of US debts. The US government is owning the majority of it's debt to guess who? The Federeal Reserve! Most of the US government debt is owed to the US government! You would be surprised what printing powers Uncle Sam owns when the US is actually at War. Not only does the US president have the ability to declare states of emergency and implement unpopular economics- like printing a 5 trillion dollar coin - it can do so without the approval of congress in a state of war. Although technically, attacking North Korea will not be seen as US being in a state of war, but this is just to give you a context. Additionally, the US can choose to deliberately devalue it's currency, meaning the 3trillion dollars owed to the Chinese would only be worth a few thousand quid. Guess who would lose? China cannot simply "want out of dollar". The dollar is a global language! It's a benchmark currency! All commodities are priced in US dollar terms. When the US lost its prized triple A ratings, there's a reason investors still consider it as a safe haven! It's simple, if you are not using the dollar, what else would you use? 4 Likes |

ebdib:USA is an aggressor here, for 3 yrs running they have been provoking NK with their drills in the Korean Peninsular. They intended to intimidate China, whose ally is NK, but they have lost the locus standi as China is very much versed in the hypocrisy of the Western Oligarchies. Now, South Koreans needs to know that a single drop of nuclear war head on their sea or land takes them off the map. Any other revenge tactics will be Pyrrhic victory. For many of who who say NK are hungry, then you are simply watching too much CNN and BBC. |

cap28: Which part of it is propaganda? Most of the messages threatening were broadcasted on North Korea state TV channels. The nuclear test was all too glaring for even the blind to see, so also was the missile test, so which ones are propaganda? There's no crime to develop nuclear capability, but if every country owns one, then the world would be done before midnight. There's a reason the US and Russia are both reducing the numbers in their arsenal, not increasing it. If South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Mongolia choose to develop nuclear capabilities, not even the Chinese would be able to sleep comfortably in their beds at night. North Koreans stand to gain nothing from striking the US, and they are not really planning to. But in North Korea, and as the head of a communist government, it is a win if you can militarily muscle the US to the negotiating table by threatening the South with military strikes. North Korean leaders have done it several times in the past, this time, the US is simply saying "Bring it on, Fat boy"! |
