I have two 16ft by 8ft by 3.5ft . I stock 250 fishes of average size of the fish is 150g in one pond and the second pond is has about 426fishes with average size of 70g

I would advice you allow the one in the pond to attain 150gram before switching to local feed. The other bigger one can be fed local.
For the mortality, treat your pond first and observe before treating your fish.
Also observe if there are no mold growth on the feed

Vital is good. Since you are spreading to other ponds I suggest u dedicate one pond to local feed. The experience you will get will help you in subsequent production. Knowledge in local feed management is necessary for expansion

Consider the cost of floating feed like vital that cost 6800 per 15kg, if your FCR is 1:1 then you will required 453naira to attain 1kg apart from other sundry expenses.

FCR means Feed Conversion Ratio that is the quantity of feed that translate to body weight of the fish

@ Busayo1981 your compsition is rich but lacks binding agent such as starch. This should not be less than 15% if you want to achieve good binding.
This could have led to leeches of your rich nutrient in water, causing harm to your fish

Salt is very important in aquaculture. It aids digestion and serves as antistress. I use 1kg for every 100kg composition.
2bottle of palm oil is alright

Thanks for your consideration and willingness to work toward more solution. May I ask, How are you producing your feed? Do you own Pellet feed production equipment or do use manual mixing..? Does your feed float, sink or both? You mentioned the result has been encouraging. What are the challenges, if any? I was taking a look at some production machines made from China that would aid in larger productions. Have you considered such?
There can be much more progress, power, and greatness in unity. Ideas cannot be substantiated until it is tried and put to use. Good Morning

Very good, 1 or 2 deaths in a while is not out of place, but just be observant, and guide against regularity of occurrence thru good water management.

Thanks for your explanation. I think there are guiding limits of quantity of different feed components / additives to be added to animal feeds, bearing in mind that such animals are later consumed by human being (us). Pls, what is the purpose of adding palm oil to the feed?

It is possible to make profit.
3 fish of melange make one kg
300naira will feed 3fish that makes up 1kg
Therefore, 100naira will feed 1 fish to attain average of 350gram
For example 3000 melange will consume 300,000 naira for them to attain 1000kg @ average of 350gram per fish
150,000 @ average of 7,500 per bag will give you 20bags of floating feed that is 300kg of feed
150,000 naira for local feed of 600kg total feed equal 900kg
Total weight of 3000melange give 1000kg
1000kg X 600(current price of melange) gross profit 600,000 - 300,000 equal 300,000 net profit
(Note: The fish would attain average miinimum of 100gram each with floating feed)
