teniola564: This is just wicked. The only fraud here is Nwando. When you dont have any achievements of your own, you run down those of other people. I am sure you have achieved nothing in our own life that is why you come to Nairaland to abuse others.

Igbo have this problem with jealousy especially when it comes to Yoruba's that are doing well.

I dont know doctor Ola personally but I have heard her speak at church (she goes to Daystar in Oregun) and I think that the credentials on the profile posted on her website dont even do justice to all her achievements compared to the profile our pastor read out before her talk.

All that is posted on her website is:

Dr Ola Orekunrin is the Managing Director of Flying Doctors Nigeria Ltd, West Africa’s first Air Ambulance Service. She graduated from the University Of York, one of the youngest doctor’s in the UK and has worked in the NHS for nearly ten years . She has a specialist interest in trauma and pre-hospital care, buttressed by her private work at motor-racing circuits across the country. She has published her own book along with several articles in high-profile medical journals and has sat on various influential boards at the British Medical Association. In 2008, she was awarded the prestigious MEXT Japanese Government Scholarship and produced ground-breaking research in the field of regenerative medicine through her work with induced pluripotent stem cells. She also is a member of the American Academy of Aesthetic Surgeons and holds their board certification.

There is no mention of all the awards like TED Fellow, Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum,Forbes,New Generation Leader for Africa,Future Award, This Day Award. Pre-hospital care qualifications from the Royal College Of Surgeons........and these are just the ones I wrote down from the Business Forum talk.

Which embellishment?......she doesnt even begin to start with her achievements in that brief profile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The story she told us at church was so much more powerful as she explained how she got all her work experience placements sending out out hundreds of letters to different hospitals. Walking in home in the snow without any transport money. Was so inspired. It was called 'Finding Your True Love' and she said her true love was medicine. She told us about the problems she had getting admission to Imperial College as she was too young. It was amazing.

HYMS runs a 5 year course, if she started at 17.Then in her 1st Year- 17, 2nd Year-18, 3rd Year-19,4th Year-20, 5th Year 21. The latest she could have finished is 21 or at most 22 which is still young.

If you do research with the MEXT fellowship then it is COMPULSORY you publish. Have a look at the MEXT website : http://www.mext.go.jp/a_menu/koutou/ryugaku/boshu/1319066.htm. It is a RESEARCH scholarship!

My research also reveals any doctor can do the American Academy Of Aesthetic Medicine qualification. Its not limited to specialists. It is also not the same as plastic surgery.

If you go to the GMC website you will find she is a fully registered doctor in the UK with all correct certifications. Look here: http://www.gmc-uk.org/

I see so many comments on her spiritual life. Have you forgotten that only God sees the heart? When she gave her talk she was dressed modestly for our church environment, however perhaps other churches like MFM or Deeper Life may not have approved. Concerning dressing, outside church I have seen some outfits that may not be described as 'modest' for a born again christian, but leave God to judge. No one is perfect.

She is hard-working, God-fearing, professional and a role-model to any young entrepreneur. She is definitely one of the best speakers we have had at the business forum. She also works at the Clinic in Daystar.

As far as this thread is concerned, that bolded is not true.

lol, nwando/babyosisi got totally bludgeoned and owned on this thread and ran out with her tail between her legs. She went out of her way to derail the thread with her bullsh1t but she's nowhere to be found now. She can't even do something as simple as use a search engine, but later some clowns on this site will say this poor excuse for a woman, nwando, is actually intelligent because she makes sarcastic comments.

Doesn't she (nwando) work in the health care field as well? That would explain the petty jealousy and the desperate attempt to tear down this woman.

Well our dear Dr now as a dates with the GMC which she will obviously not be keen to publicise to CNN. I guess we get what we pay for in Nigeria. By the way Dr Akomolafe is no FRCPsych only God knows if any of the English names used are real people. Anyway here goes
http://www.mpts-uk.org/calendar/event_details.aspx?ID=44db50ef-1238-4869-b61b-32c25ed09dea

Dr Olamide OREKUNRIN
From : 09 February 2015 To : 27 February 2015

Category : Fitness to Practise Hearings

Info :
Planned dates: 9 - 27 February 2015
St James’s Buildings, 79 Oxford Street, Manchester, M1 6FQ

The Fitness to Practise Panel will meet at St James’s Buildings, 79 Oxford Street, Manchester, M1 6FQ to consider a new case of impairment by reason of misconduct.

Name: Dr Olamide OREKUNRIN
GMC Reference Number: 7013906

Area of practice: Birmingham and Nigeria

The Panel will inquire into the allegation that whilst Dr Orekunrin held the position of Managing Director of Flying Doctors Nigeria (‘FDN’) she arranged for the referral of Patient A to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (‘QEH’) by way of long distance air transfer. It is alleged that prior to arranging the referral Dr Orekunrin failed to adequately examine or assess Patient A’s condition or ensure Patient A’s stabilization. It is also alleged that Dr Orekunrin gave incorrect details whilst arranging the transfer and that her conduct in this regard was misleading and dishonest.

It is also alleged that, in relation to Patient A, Dr Orekunrin failed to undertake trauma surveys, assess the respiratory system, circulatory system, gastro intestinal system or the patient’s burns and their management. It is also alleged that she failed to provide and manage pain relief or monitor the patient’s vital signs. It is further alleged that Dr Orekunrim failed to provide QEH with adequate information in relation to Patient A’s condition, in that she failed to provide any records or evidence of the above matters. It is also alleged that she failed to ensure adequate and appropriate provisions for the safe transfer of Patient A to QEH.

Following Patient A’s transfer to QEH it is alleged that Dr Orekunrin failed to adequately hand over Patient A’s care, provide details regarding Patient A’s medical records and provide adequate and accurate information to patient A’s family. It is further alleged that when a consultant involved in Patient A’s care requested further information by email Dr Orekunrin questioned the request, dismissed the tone of the email as irate, failed to try and obtain the information requested as she stated that she would do, and failed to treat the consultant fairly and with respect.

The above reflects the allegation as it stands at the start of the hearing. The allegation may be amended as the hearing proceeds and when findings of fact are made by the Panel. If you require up to date information regarding the allegation throughout the course of the hearing, please contact the MPTS at pressoffice@mpts-uk.org.

In accordance with Rule 41(2) of the General Medical Council (Fitness to Practise) Rules 2004, the Panel may decide to exclude the public from the proceedings or any part of the proceedings, where they consider that the circumstances of the case outweigh the public interest in holding the hearing in public.

Angyee:
Nwando, let me teach you how to verify the truth by tearing apart your claims.

1. As I said before I checked the GMC register online, anyone can do that and her details are there. It clearly states she is registered with a license to practice. You and your doctor friend are both quacks. to register you must have and see the quote below from GMC website:

this is the link to search for GMC registered doctors (I cannot put the link to her details specifically as it is time limited and will simply take you back to search site): http://webcache.gmc-uk.org/gmclrmp_enu/start.swe?SWECmd=GotoView&_sn=K0P8dzEJEY5pu9RNT4jxwNTQuIMdEA9SYinfwr1pOIVTevIlRuCtxF5AkDgk3tf9B.pZeR.9FtdetvrJRG7-4T3enrVvW-NMcidXgL8nt0WR-CyT1yVQJoaAZFtqRwVa4uI96Y6NIwwNLpDQDaaqOKqr1eoyX7DKQQc4FlkaV.vb27hPqUSDQQ3w1EpoHuVGnn8c7dCx44o_&SWEView=GMC+WEB+Doctor+Search&SRN=&SWEHo=webcache.gmc-uk.org&SWETS=1365514101&SWEApplet=GMC+WEB+Health+Provider+Search+Applet. or go to http://www.gmc-uk.org/doctors/register/LRMP.asp, 1st link there says show me the list, click on it and search. Go there, put her surname in, she is registered as Olamide Orekunrin, no. 7013906. A simple Google search would have shown you the link.

2. According to GMC(who check all these details b4 reg) she gained an MB BS from University of York in 2008. Her course as I saw on the Hull York Medical School website is a 5 year course and entry is granted from age 16. She started at 17. She states when she wrote her final exam she was still 21 which is very likely and by the time graduation rolled around she had turned 22. She would still be regarded as one of the youngest as a lot of times graduation in UK is done several months after exams and even more after final result. I wrote my last paper for MSc at age 23 (finished BSc at 21 in Nigeria), however by the time graduation ceremony rolled around I was 24. So her statement is entirely plausible.

Note: she never said I graduated at 21, she said I wrote my final exam at 21 - learn to read and understand.

3. She never said she had a post or political career, she was aspiring to one. In case you are not aware, to aspire means to 'direct one's hopes or ambitions to achieve something'. So she left those hopes behind and instead came here. Again, truth.

4. Working experience. Well from the NHS website, work experience placements begin from Year 10 (equivalent of SS1) and which is from sge 14-16 years. Some roles which they gain experience by participation and observation include: nurses, nurses, healthcare assistants, allied health professionals such as occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and podiatrists, healthcare scientists among others. This is from NHS website oh. So it is very VERY likely that it was not a messenger job (which does not exist in the NHS anyway). NHS employs minors for placements, see the link here that gives them info: http://www.nhscareers.nhs.uk/media/1487492/Work_experience_in_the_NHS.pdf. It's a pdf document. So that person was ill-informed.

5. As for the bombings et al, almost if not all organizations in UK offer summer holiday placements so again very plausible.

6. Her details are also on MIT website for entrepreneurship. MIT would never put up such details without verifying authenticity.

So Nwando in future if you don't know, keep quiet and do not display your ignorance. She has not told any lies. Stop doing 'they say' and do your own research and come up with verifiable facts like I have. This is journalism.

Ola is really a doctor but was suspended by the British Medical Council at some points. Check daily mail post 9th May, 2015. She is extremely shady so you have to be very careful when dealing with her.

As far as this thread is concerned, that bolded is not true.

She is a doctor. However she was suspended by the British Council for a long time. I do not think she is registered to practice in Nigeria as well. See this link http://www.mpts-uk.org/static/documents/content/Dr_Olamide_OREKUNRIN_29_January_2016.pdf

You have to be careful with her. Those that have deal with her say she is extremely fraudulent.

NMA is the regulatory body for Medical Practice in Nigeria ,just the same way ICAN can investigate , discipline , suspend the licences of any chattered Accountant in the Country and NBA can do the same for Lawyers , NMA should sit up and check the bastardization of the Medical profession by quacks

But she is not a quack. She is a fully qualified & well trained medical doctor. Or are you saying she does not have an MBBS or MBBCh degree?
