You mean the study of mermaids and other marine spirits? Lol
#just teasing. . .#

Marine engr is an off-shoot of Mechanical Engr. Only Rsut and one other school offers the course separately, which I think is a bad idea.
A mech engr will be versatile with plant maintenance and operations: including airplanes (aeronotics engr), ships and other marine plants (marine engr), Agric equipments: harvesters, incubators and others (agric engr).

So instead of going for a degree in Marine engr, go for one in Mech engr.

Thank me latercheesy
I beg to disagree sir. A mechanical Engr would have very little knowlege of what marine engineering is all about. So, what happens when we need marine engineers? We'd 'manage' the mechanical engineers? Its sad our government isnt planning for any serious development to happen in this country. We need specialists in all areas. So, yes, marine Engineering is cool, if u understand the need that course was supposed to fill in the society.

Phonon: I am not saying graduates of other disciplines can't perform the said role;I was just mentioning jobs, amongst others that Physics graduates can get.Besides,if it were up to me,I would consider a physics graduate before an actuarial science graduate if they both fit the job profile.
I don't really agree with you on that because actuarists major role į̸̸̨§ to use mathematical models, functions and equations to predict investment outcomes...they develop models that investment banks, finance houses and insurance companies use... They also develop tables, rates mortality tables etc which A̶̲̥̅̊я̲̣̥ε̲ really vital in †̥ђe̶̲̥̅ finance and insurance sector... On †̥ђe̶̲̥̅ other hand, physics graduate Ѡill need to really specialise i̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ this field by going for higher degrees i̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ this area before he can perform all those functions above

'omology' when you are not ready.
on a serious note, the bastardization of our economy, shortsightedness of our leaders, non development of human capital and many more have made some courses irrelevant and useless, but i strongly beliv that no course, considering our natural endowments n resources,is useless.
until our government n institutions stop giving much attention to paper qualifications,by treating us as individual with potentials waiting to be explored and exploited for the good of the nation n self, many courses would continue to remain irrelevant n useless

The usefulness or 'uselessness' of a course depends on the enthusiasm/ingenuity of the student. A History major may earn good money printing history textbooks for schools.

Who is the dump skull that mentioned history , history is one of the best course in the world , beacayuse history is the main factor that led to the emergence of other courses e.g without the history of great men who invented contempoary medical methods how would mordern medicine be in place, so without history our world would hav been a meanigless one

Actually marine engineering is not an offshore of mechanical engineering you can google the maritime schools we have in the world and only two have been accredited by the IMO in africa one in egypt and the other in ghana

I am not contesting what you wrote so I don't understand where the "I don
't really agree with you" anthem is coming from.I understand that actuarial science graduates are equipped to do the job.I am saying that Physics graduates have the aptitude to do the same job without much hassle since the job is quantitative in nature. The reverse is not the case.An actuarial science graduate can't be employed as an Astrophysicist or a Nuclear Physicist.I am just expressing the versatility of Physics.
