Abagworo: Snake, Monkey and Iguana reverence has always existed across the lower River Niger area long before the coming of Europeans. It is not restricted to any particular tribe or region and spreads all the way to Bayelsa and Abia States to the best of my knowledge. Our forefathers saw the need to preserve those animals and devised those means. Europeans have borrowed it and signed it into law as animal rights act for endangered species and there is nothing barbaric about it. The Pastor should apologize and perform the burial rights.Loooool Dude! You were making sense, until that last sentence. Is that a joke? Who performs burial rites for all the rats n roaches we've been crushing with insecticides? Lol If you believe an animal is your god, then Mungo Park built river Niger! |

cecegorz: What is your own evidence that the god you worship exists? All religions are fairy tales composed by wise people to deceive the gullible stupid ones. Our forefathers were wise enough to use laws and taboos to preserve endangered species. |

PAGAN 9JA: SERIOUSLY, he should wait until it bites or or constricts his kids. Even in the so called European countries, u are advised to have a means of defending yourself if you decide to camp in the bear country. Human life is sacred and should be defended even if it means killing an erring protected wild animal |

Every time I tried, it kept telling me to try again later after some hours... Was I temporarily banned Someone should please answer o... Meanwhile, all those who support the snake-friend-tradition should cover their heads in shame - that's if they profess any form of Christianity. It is simply something called SYNCRETISM. Our people mix christianity with all sorts of traditional religion. That's why were are stagnated in this country as a large percentage of us are poor in the brain irrespective of our level of education! Haba!!! How can a Christ-professing individual support a tradition that is CLEARLY an opposite of God's curse on the serpent What if the 'gods' were on a mission to kill the MOG's family since he is preaching against them? Only 10% of all snakes are poisonous. That's a scientific fact. Let no one say that a python of whatever form in any village isn't harmful. That reptile is a constrictor which can wrap itself around its victim & kill it! We must learn to let the 'gods' fight for themselves, rather than we for them. This is appalling especially for those who defend this inconceivable position of not killing a reptile that might pose danger to you because of a clearly fetish age-old tradition. Answer this: are you categorically saying no one has ever been bitten by such snakes in those communities before? Certainly not! |

Abagworo: Why na? E don tey wey I dey read as people dey complain about being banned at whim. I've often seen signatures attacking moderators & all that... But I certainly never imagined I would ever be affected... What's all that na How do U ban and un-ban in such manner? Same for hidden posts... The body of the article from the newspaper, which is my second post on the thread was also initially hidden a few mins after I posted it, before it was later 'unhidden'... But by the way, are you sure U posted that story before or after me? Cos I know that posting an already posted information is against the rules.... #Just wondering... **Let's be careful not to derail the primary subject here tho'** |

Dr. Tee: 80% of this country is christian/muslim. what good has that done to us? NOTHInG! stop blaming us Pagans. we are poor because of your useless religious wars, tithin, scandal, etc. . The Eke Idemilli has never killed an indigen. are you blind havent you been reading all these testimonies if your pastor can raise his hand on a symbol of our God, our Gods defenders have right to raise their hand as well. Nigeria is not a christian country. We Pagans exist too. |

testimony from a xtian (not me): I'm from Ideato, Imo State, I never forgot a story from my mother about a Python many years ago; One day she was laying on her bed at night in the village as a child, she felt her bed was cold and she wake up, to find a python laying under bed cover. She ran out of her room, called my late grand father, he came immediately and simply sang a song and the python crawled out of her room. My mother was curious, and ask her father why didn't he killed the python. She was told that python are not harmful and our custom forbids killing it. |

[quote author=PAGAN 9JA] The Eke Idemilli has never killed an indigen. are you blind havent you been reading all these testimonies Did U seriously write that? Asking if I'm blind Did U read #2 of the posting rules If you get reported & banned, whom do U blame? I don't blame you anyway... I'll keep my lips sealed on why. There is no point stating the obvious. I'm sure that those PAGANS who put every twin delivery to death in the pre- Mary Slessor age did have a VALID reason - in their opinion, to kill those innocent kids. A pagan god possibly ordered such executions, wasn't it? It was potentially the age-old culture & norms. Some people must have defended it as aggressively as you are defending this your snake-love-tradition. Smh... Anyway, I don't have your time. My biggest query are for those Christians and pseudo-christians here who defend such tradition as this. I don't understand. It sure means that they serve 2 'gods'... Remember that the Bible states in Rev 3: "Lukewarm I would spew out of my mouth..." It is better to be pagan, or agnostic, than be a pseudo- christian... To the pagan asking about a person's sight loss, it is important @ this juncture to ask if he didn't read the many testimonies of people who have killed snakes in the same place! Finally, the red indian aboriginal inhabitants of the USA must have had their beliefs & tradition. Some must have had some idolatry & customs... Can U imagine a boa constrictor in the White House in the name of tradition? Or if Idemili were to be the FCT, would snakes be considered sacred in Aso Rock Some people are, forgive me to say, d*ft! 1 Like |

Dr. Tee: shut up. yes you heard me right. I said shut up. I had written that post before the rules were made. about twin killings, i have already explained before. what tribe does twin killings? The Yorubas dont and the Igbos dont and these are large groups. Only a small section of the Kalabaris was "supposed" to have done it but again this might just be another lying attempt by that missionary marie selassor to spread christianity. also that was more of a cultural issue. and the baby if killed, whihc i doubt, was done so at an infant stage when it can hardly open its eyes, forget think or experience the world. and again, what is the possibility of getting a twin among this small population 1 IN A MILLION?!! However if we look at christianity, this barbarous religion has been involved in the systematice torture and murder of millions around the world, just because they professed a different faith. not to mention the r.apes, pllaging, slavery, r.ape of minors boys in churches (homos.exuality), tithing, bribery, forced conversion, man-worship, etc. . the list is endless. now you are comparing the deaths of 1 or 2 newborn babies to the deaths of miilions of grown up adults?!!! THAT IS LAUGHABLE! The red Indians (that is a ra.cist term btw. pls call them Native Americans/Native Canadians or First Nations Tribals), have had grave injustices done to them by the US govt. and by christian missionaries. forced assimilation programs, stealing of their lands, forced conversion, crowded reservations, etc. they still suffer today, those few pure bloods that remain. so their situation is diffent and one of ongoing suffering. ofcourse it would be considered sacred! some people just need to shut up and go back to worshipping their dead man-Gods. |

SNAKES KILL, KILL SNAKES!!! . . . Religion or no religion we should be at least use simple logic. Roaches don't kill, there are certain mosquitoes that can't infect you with malaria, not all rats can cause harm but why do we still kill them? keep your environment clean and if you see a snake or any animal you do not want, KILL!. These pagans, custom-carriers and all you sorts, i laugh in pity. Keep lying to yourselves. The beauty about Christianity is it preaches peace....if you like burn the holy bible, bomb all the churches, we do not fight for our God. He fights his battles, he is the same yesterday, today and forever. |

PAGAN 9JA: When foolish people are doing what they should be ashamed of, they call it their duty. A man, an embodiment of divinity n superior intelligence and most advanced form of creation, bringing himself as slow as worshiping a snake n glorify it as god. WhAt an illusion. What an abysmal abberation. What an insult and what a disgrace. Me, myself, acknowledge n kowtow to d supposed supremacy of a snake? Me, the image of God and carrier of the Holy Ghost, me, the custodian of all creation, both seen and unseen. Mr pagan, won't u also support d killing of persons to accompany a dead king to d other world? Common sense is d recollection of prejudice at d age of 18. What I think is that as our ancestors were very wise they took some steps to stop people from killing off some parts of life. I know some other animals that you may not kill. I know some forests that you must not touch. I know streams & rivers you must not fish in. And 'religion' is used to make people to obey... |
