It was a historic game for the Tucumán team and fans as they beat Atlético Nacional 2-0 in the Copa Libertadores at the José Fierro stadium.

Comedian and actor, Okechukwu Anthony Onyegbule, aka Okey Bakassi, has reacted to reports that he sleeps with actresses in exchange for movie roles.

According to online reports, actor Emeka Ike granted an interview where he mentioned five filmmakers who were fond of demanding sex for movie roles and Okey Bakassi was on the list.

But in an encounter with Sunday Scoop, Okey Bakassi said that the moment he saw the news, he called Ike to confirm the story and he denied saying it. He said, “The reports have been there for a while now; bloggers just went to dig it out. When I saw the news, I called him immediately and he denied it. The truth is that I heard it from people before I read it. Since I confronted the person that was alleged to have said it and he said he didn’t say it, I couldn’t hold anything against him. I guess my mistake at the time was not putting it on record.”

Bakassi also opined that because Ike lamented about different things in the industry, it was confusing. “I cannot remember the version of the article I read, but he was attacking the whole industry in it. Since he mentioned some names, people then attributed the rest of the story to those names. At a time, I spoke to my lawyers to take it up. You cannot substantiate things like that. If it were to be a woman, one could say she was speaking from her experience. Did anyone sleep with him?

If anyone can provide the recording of the interview where Emeka accused me of sleeping with actresses for movie roles, I would take him up on it. You know we live in an era where anyone can pick up anything and turn it into a story,” he said.

The sacked Director General of the Department of State Security Service, Lawal Musa Daura, has now revealed why he deployed hooded operatives of the secret service to the National Assembly on Tuesday.


The ex-DSS boss said he acted based on intelligence report that unauthorised persons were planning to smuggle dangerous weapons and incriminating items into the complex.


Daura’s confession was contained in the interim investigation report submitted by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Idris to the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo. IGP Idris argued in the report that Daura carried out the siege on the National Assembly without the approval of the acting president.


“The former Director-General, Department of State Security Service, Mr Lawal Musa Daura acted unilaterally without informing the presidency. He did not share or intimate other security agencies on the unlawful operations,” Idris was quoted to have said in the report obtained by Daily Trust.


The police boss also said the purported intelligence report by Daura cannot be substantiated as the personnel deployed were not EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) experts or specialist in this regard.


MC EBISCO reported last Tuesday that armed DSS officials stormed the National Assembly as early as 6:am and blocked the entrance and exit points.


The Acting President, hours later, dismissed the DSS boss.

A husband tried to fake his own death by staging photos of himself in a morgue so his wife would stop asking him for money.

Danny Gonzalez, 27, who is originally from Honduras but lives in the US, took photos of himself with cotton wool stuffed into his nostrils and mouth, and a white sheet over his body.

He sent the photos to his wife living back home in Saba, southern Honduras, along with a picture of a flower-covered coffin in a funeral parlour.

A message told her he had died from cancer and asthma, according to reports.

However, the ruse backfired after local media in his hometown started to report his sudden death, and the news reached his shocked friends and elderly parents.

But it didn’t take relatives long to realise all was not as it seemed, as Gonzalez appeared to be grinning in the photos.

Others noticed that he appeared to be lying in a doubled bed, and the white sheet over his body was actually a pillow cover.

When local media finally found him alive, he admitted the hoax was a ploy to make his of two years believe he had passed away.

He told the TV Sur channel:

“My wife would call me every week just to ask to send more money.

“Every Saturday she would call me telling me I had sent her so much, and I needed to send her this much more.

“The rest of the week, not even a message. She would never send photos or ask me anything else.

“She kept asking me to send her mobile phones.

“I’d already sent six and she always rang me to tell me it had been stolen.”

Other family members reportedly slammed him as “an ungrateful son”.

A Chinese man who recently embraced Islam, has married a young Nigerian Muslim girl, after he came all the way from his country with a family member to marry the lady, according to Islamic rites in Plateau state.

Photos which emerged online show the Chinese man who accepted Islam before he tied the knot with the young Muslim girl, dressed in Nigerian male native wear designed with Guinea fabric and cap (also known by its Yoruba name, fila).

Senator Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday revealed that he has no intention to be the Senate President.

He, however, said he had the intention of becoming what God wants him to be.

The former Senate Minority Leader in an interview on Channels Television’s political programme, ‘Politics Today’, explained further the reasons behind his defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I don’t have any intention of becoming Senate President today. But I have the intention of becoming whatever God wants me to be. My name is Godswill and I believe in the will of God.

“During my campaign, consistently, I told the good people of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria, ‘Let God’s will be done.’ I believe so much in the will of God and the will of man.”

Akpabio, who was a former governor of Akwa-Ibom State under the PDP, said some of the reasons behind his defection to the APC was that the PDP had no ‘reward system for members who toiled for the party.’

“The Chairman of PDP is shocked, he thinks I am moving against the tide but I am not. The problem with my erstwhile party, the PDP, is that they didn’t have a reward system.

“For some of us that have stayed with the party and toiled with the party, there was no reward system at all. I can’t imagine people who destroyed the party in 2015 just merely signifying their intention to return to the party and then we roll out the drums and with so much pomp and pageantry we now celebrate them as heroes of democracy and not destroyers of democracy. They say they are back, I wonder what they are coming to do in the party,” he said.

Kolewerk crooner, Koker has quietly parted ways with the MI Abaga led record company, Chocolate city.

Koker’s exit from the label became obvious a few days ago when he dropped his latest song ‘Daddy’ featuring Falz under his own ‘Koke Boy’ imprint as against the usual Choc Boy imprint. All information about Chocolate City on his social media handles have also changed to his ‘Koke Boy’ movement.

Back in November 2017 when news filtered that Koker may be leaving the label, he told Punchng that, ‘does it look like I’m not with them anymore? There is no truth to any rumour whatsoever. My selling point is simply about me being myself”.

Though Koker and Chocolate City are yet to officially speak on his departure from the label, it is confirmed that Koker has indeed moved on but maintains a good relationship with the label and his new EP scheduled to drop later this month features MI Abaga will be released under his ‘Koke Boy’ imprint.

A 25-year-old woman, Faith Nyokabi, was on Tuesday arrested in Thika town, Kenya for allegedly asking her husband to pay before breastfeeding their baby.

Nyokabi reportedly abandoned her four-month-old baby at her matrimonial home in Kiganjo Estate over a week ago and refused to return without receiving Ksh.100,000 ($995) in cash from her husband, Charles Kiiri, reports Citizen TV Kenya.

According to the 36-year-old Kirii, a casual labourer, he was informed on August 1, 2018, that his wife had taken off and left their infant in the house.

He reportedly rushed home and found the baby under the care of neighbours. Kiiri pleaded with Nyokabi to return home to breastfeed her baby but she told him that her mother had taken her to a local hospital where she had been injected with a drug that supposedly dried out her milk supply.

Nyokabi told her husband, she wouldn’t come back home unless he gave her the money.

The frustrated husband reported the matter to the Thika Children’s Offices and was referred to Murang’a Children’s Offices.

Kiiri said the main issue between the two was occasioned by his mother in-law whom he accused of making frequent financial demands.

According to Thika Children’s Officer Lina Mwangi, the woman will be charged with child neglect and denying a child protection and care contrary to the Children’s Act.

Mwangi advised the father to look for a temporary caregiver to look after the infant under his watch as the court handles the matter.

According to an online report, a 60-year-old woman identified as Mrs. Grace Arowojolu, has given birth to a bouncing baby after 30 years of marriage.

The woman was pictured carrying the new baby after the ‘miraculous’ delivery.

Hip hop artiste, Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, in this interview with ADENIYI ADEWOYIN, speaks about how he became homeless after leaving Banky W’s E.M.E records and how Timaya and Olamide delivered him from homelessness and gave.

YOU just released your third studio album, can you tell us about the album?

It’s all about love. People who have known me know that what has really kept me going is love and the love that I get from the people, from the media, my fans and people that I don’t even know. So, that’s just why I just call myself Mr Love. The fact is that I am one of those people that believe in love. I hardy fight. Recently, my brother Wizkid and I just linked up and that is a perfect story.

People did not know we have been talking after what happened five years ago. It is just that we have not made it public. That day, we were so happy about our achievements and how far we have come. We were so excited and the next morning when I woke up I saw Wiz tweeting about me because we had balled a night before.

So, the whole inspiration is just love. Love has kept me going. I bring myself down to everyone. I would not want to blow my trumpet but I help people who come to me for help. The name Mr Love started up with my friends. I don’t know if you have seen the album’s cover. It has my mum’s picture and mine on it. The album is dedicated to my mum, because I don’t know how to explain true love than mothers’ love. She helped me a lot and that was the whole inspiration.

You said the album is dedicated to your mum. Why was she not present at the listening?

She can’t fly for now for health reasons because she lives in Kaduna. My mum has stroke but she is recovering. I can’t do some certain things till she gets better. Of course, I have her full blessings. I just shot a video and she was in the video and the song is the first track on my album called ‘Good Life’ and it’s all about my mum. She’s the vixen in the video.

You are speaking so much about your mum, what about your dad?

I feel like mothers do most of the works and it’s not like the fathers don’t work but you know how it is. Even the fathers appreciate the mums because the mothers make the job easier, because they are always there for the kids. But, at the same time, there are other fathers that also do as much as the mothers. For me, my mum was like the only person that raised me. My parents separated when I was very young.

That’s why I am all about my mum. She basically suffered for my sake to make sure that I have a good life and that’s why I even have the first track named ‘Good Life.’ I am inspired because of my mum. I am motivated because of my her.

What other things are you working on?

People don’t know I have my own music company that I opened before I got signed to Baseline called OK Entertainment. It’s been on a low for a while but we’ve been releasing songs off it. As a matter of fact, Paul Pogba just danced to one of the songs from the label. For now, I won’t say we have many artistes because I am still signed to Baseline that I am very loyal to because they are the reason why I am here right now. They practically helped me be who I am right now. I will be launching my EP maybe months after I drop my third studio album.

How necessary is it for artistes to own a record label?

If you know me well, you will know that I am a businessman. Apart from the music business, I am also an entrepreneur. I do other things I don’t want to discuss in public. It’s not necessary but I feel like a lot of artistes would rather open their record label so that they can be in charge because they don’t want to be controlled. But the good thing for me is that I was lucky to be signed to a record label that gives me the opportunity to do what I want to do as long as it is fruitful and beneficial to the record label.

Baseline is getting all the hype now but you became popular under EME records. What happened at EME?

Of course, everyone knows EME was a big success story. Big shout out to Banky W. He kind of opened everybody’s eyes to know that you can sign teenagers and make them superstars. They signed me at the age of 16 when all I knew was to just make music. During my stay there, Banky also taught us about the music business. He didn’t hide anything from us. He taught us how to make money from music and you can tell by the success of Wizkid and I that we had a very good mentor.

How has life as an entertainer been?

Honestly, I am used to it because I have been signed since I was 16 years old. Everybody knows the Skales’ story has been told over and over again. I have been through a lot of backlashes but it’s all love, most especially from the media. They’ve shown me so much love and support regardless. My main goal is to touch somebody’s life with my story. I came from a very poor home but now look at my life. I can afford to buy a Range Rover, I can afford to buy a car and dash somebody, I can afford to do a lot of thing and sometimes I am still shocked how I got here. I am just 27years old and I have travelled to a lot of countries and have worked with lots of top artistes I never believed I would work with.

Do you believe in the saying that what will be will be?

Yes, trust me it truly works. I would say when I first left E.M.E a lot of people were pitying me and I was wondering why. I believe so much in God as a Christian. So, I believe that whatever happens, happens for a reason. It didn’t even take so long after E.M.E that God gave me a song that turned my life around and that song is evergreen and after ‘Shake Body’ it has been hits back to back. I just want to tell my story so other kids out there won’t give up. Don’t stop, your time will come because everything has its timing.

You once revealed that Olamide paid for your hit single ‘Shake Body’ video…

Yes, after E.M.E I was a broke boy, I was homeless, sleeping from one studio to the other but I had a car. I wasn’t a friend of Olamide but he just liked me since when I was in E.M.E. I never told anybody that I didn’t have anywhere to stay.

One day I went to Timaya’s house and it got late at night. I didn’t have anywhere to go. I was sleeping in the car outside Timaya’s house and the gateman told him “Skales is outside sleeping in the car.” Timaya came and asked me what’s going on? He looked at the back of the car and saw my bags which means practically I was living in a mobile house. Timaya asked me to move into his house and gave me his pent house which was really big. And that was where I recorded ‘Shake Body.’ When I released ‘Shake Body,’ I didn’t have money for promo. I just had one manager (Osagie) that believed in me. The song was everywhere but I didn’t have money to shoot the video and I wasn’t getting shows. People didn’t really know it was me that sang the song.

One day, Olamide found out it was me who sang the song and asked where I was and we spoke at length. He asked what was going on with me and why I hadn’t shot the video and I told him I didn’t have money. He said I should send him my account number which I did and like five minutes later, I got an alert. And that’s how it happened. When I tweeted it, he wasn’t happy with me because he begged me not to ever tell anybody about it. But I wanted to just tell the world how good of a guy he is and big shout out to Davido also. He was always checking up on me. There are lots of people who were checking up on me. The list is endless.

How is your relationship with Wizkid now?

Honestly, it’s all love. We are grownups now and we have a lot of people that are looking up to us and we cannot be messy out there. So, we have to keep winning and help grow this industry. Wiz has done greatly in the industry. That’s why I call him a legend. He is a legend.

Former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar has vowed to ensure that a minimum of 21 percent of the federal budget is devoted to education if he wins the presidential ticket on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and eventually wins the elections.

Atiku stated this in a tweet on his verified page on Saturday.

“I pledge that if I am chosen by the @OfficialPDPNig, to be its Presidential candidate, & if subsequently elected President by Nigerians, I will go above & beyond @UN recommendations & ensure a minimum of 21% of the Federal budget is devoted to education,” he wrote.

This comes hours after former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, vowed never to support Atiku’s presidential ambition.

According to Obasanjo, God will never forgive him if he backs his ex-Deputy.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), on Monday launched operation “Diran Mikiya” to flush out armed bandits terrorising Zamfara state residents.

AVM Samson Akpasa, the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Special Operations Command (SOC), made the disclosure to newsmen on Tuesday in Katsina.

He explained that the operation would be carried out from Katsina state.

Akpasa said that NAF had deployed enough operational equipment to carry out the operations.

A man has been hailed a hero after he died in Rivers state while rescuing victims of a boat accident. The 36-year-old Joe Blankson, a contractor who supplies diesel, single-handedly rescued 13 people when a boat capsized along the Abonnema-Bakana waterways in Degema, Rivers state.

The boat was conveying 25 passengers from Abonnema wharf to Bakana before the accident happened around Iborama. Fishermen around the area rescued some people while Blankson succeeded in rescuing 13 people all on his own. As the father-of-two attempted to rescue a 14th person, he died in the river and his body was retrieved a day later.

In all, six people died in the boat mishap, according to eyewitness reports. But the state Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, insisted that only one person died in the accident and not six.

Sources said the river was deep and the man was going in and out of it for more than eight times could be energy-sapping. It is believed Blackson might have died of exhaustion after going multiple times to save 13 people.

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel has spoken on the unfolding political development in Benue State.

He condemned the impeachment notice served on Governor Samuel Ortom by eight members of the State House of Assembly.

Emmanuel spoke at the Government House, Uyo, when he, members of his cabinet, Speaker of the House of Assembly and some elders played host to former Minister Kabiru Taminu Turaki, SAN.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant and his campaign team visited the state as part of consultations ahead of the PDP presidential primary.

Governor Emmanuel described the Benue crisis as unfortunate and unacceptable.

He advised those in power to stop “crushing the opposition”.

“They must accept constructive criticism to avoid complacency or derailing from set target”, he said.

However, Emmanuel, who acknowledged Turaki’s understanding of Nigeria’s developmental challenges, said it would help him address the problems.

The governor noted that the PDP parades high quality presidential aspirants, adding that governors in the party had decided to ensure that the party’s candidate will emerge from a free and fair primary.

The High Court sitting in Port Harcourt will on October 8 deliver ruling over the issue of jurisdiction in the matter between the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus and the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.

The court gave the date after Lai Mohammed had filed several applications challenging the jurisdiction of the court to hear the matter.

The respondent argued that the matter is meant to be heard in Lagos and not Port Harcourt because the publication was done in Lagos.

DAILY POST reports that after taking submissions of both parties, Chief Judge of Rivers state, Justice Iyayi Lamikanra fixed October 8 for the next hearing with the hope that there will be no new applications.

Speaking with newsmen outside the court room, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Emeka Etiaba who is counsel to the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Secondus said jurisdiction does not matter when a matter is about defamation.

“We have a matter of defamation and they are challenging the jurisdiction of the court. That is lame and they know it because it is unknown to the Law of libel,” Etiaba said.

Recall that the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus slammed a N1.5billion charge of defamation against the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed after his name was published among those who allegedly received funds from the embattled former National Security adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

Unlike most politicians who would encourage total roll out of campaigns drums, President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday urged his supporters across the country to halt their current campaigns for his re-election.

He said such activities at this time could amount to jumping the gun since the Independent National Electoral Commission has timetable for the electoral process.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said this in a statement made available to journalists.

The statement read,;

“It has been observed that some fervent supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari have begun what may be interpreted as political campaigns in their advocacies and advertisements in the mass media.

“We appreciate their enthusiasm, borne out of desire to garner support for an administration that is actuated by nothing else, other than service for motherland, but we hereby appeal for patience, so that the game can be played according to the rules.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission has a timetable for political campaigns, and we urge committed supporters round the country (and beyond) to be mindful of such.

“There will be ample time ahead to trumpet the good works of the Buhari administration, and solicit re-election, all for the good of our country and her people.

A Benin Prince identified as 31-year-old Osmond Eweka, who pretended to run two consulting firms in Manhattan telling clients that if they paid a fee they would be placed at various jobs across New York City, has been arrested for defrauding hundreds of job seekers out of thousands of dollars by promising them high-paying gigs in New York.

The Benin Prince from the Royal Family of Ogiesoba Eweka of the Great Benin Kingdom, was arrested alongside his friend, Kamel McKay, 27, and according to Prosecutors, some of the jobs Eweka and McKay promised their victims were for hotel housekeeping and front desk receptionists.

The men used a popular job-seeking website Indeed.com to find their victims. Eweka who appeared in a Manhattan court on Thursday where he pleaded guilty to charges of larceny and scheme to defraud, would invite their victims to their office for an interview and then have them pay a fee, ranging between $300 and $700, the Post reports. Prosecutor Catherine McCaw said the fee was supposed to cover the cost of uniforms, training and background checks. “But in reality, there was no such job,” McCaw said at Eweka’s arraignment Thursday in Manhattan Supreme Court. McKay, 27, was arrested last May.

The Presidency has appealed to the National Assembly to suspend the ongoing recess and attend to requests by President Muhammadu Buhari pending before the legislature.

The National Assembly was billed to proceed on holiday on Thursday but the lawmakers went on emergency recess on Tuesday following the alleged clampdown on President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki and the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

One of such requests is the one asking the lawmakers to vire funds in the 2018 Appropriation Act to fund the supplementary budgets of the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies for the conduct of the 2019 general elections.

Buhari had recently presented a N228bn supplementary budget to the National Assembly, asking the legislature to re-allocate part of the N578bn voted to the projects inserted by the lawmakers into the 2018 Appropriation Act.

On Thursday, the Presidency pleaded with the lawmakers to reconvene and approve Buhari’s requests in the interest of the country.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, warned that delaying the approvals would frustrate some organs of the government.

Enang said, “The executive – President and ministers – will keep working with the legislature with respect due their offices and persons, and keep working with them as legislators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who make laws for the executive to execute irrespective of their individual political decisions while leaving all options open for conciliation.

“We will be praying the legislature – the leadership and membership – to consider that there are many matters of very urgent nature which are pending before the legislature and unless (they are) considered, the functioning of certain institutions of the government will be hampered.

“If you recall, a lot of the funding for the 2018 budget was budgeted to come from some external sources. The request for approval to raise funds from these external sources is before the legislature and unless (it is) considered, it may hamper the level of implementation. Again, before the legislature proceeded on vacation, Mr President also laid before them the request for virement, this also will be affected.”
