PoliticsNigeria Doomed Without Rule Of Law – CJN Onnoghen by 12Ebisco(op): 9:37am On Jul 25, 2018
https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/walter-Onnoghen-CJN.jpg
The Chief Justice of the Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, yesterday, said the country was doomed without the rule of law.

Onnoghen, therefore, charged judicial officers to remain steadfast and committed in the build-up to the 2019 general election.

He gave this charge during the unveiling of the ultra-modern Court of Appeal Complex in Calabar, Cross River State.

Onnoghen, who performed the unveiling, alongside the President of the Court of Appeal, Zainab Adamu Bulkachuwa, and the Governor of Cross River State, Prof Ben Ayade, told judges to remain firm no matter whose ox was gored.

He urged the judges to always be mindful of the fact that the society depended on the justices and the decision they made.

He said, “I use this opportunity to still call on judicial officers in the country to remain steadfast to their oath of office, the constitution of the country and continue to remember that without the rule of law, the society is doomed.

“Hold firm to the wheels of justice and ensure that when cases are placed on a scale, whichever weighs more should be where the judgment should go. It does not matter whose ox is gored because the society depends on us and that decision you have to take. The society survives because you are courageous enough to tell whoever is wrong that you are wrong.”

Also speaking, a former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Senator Kanu Agabi, who spoke on behalf of legal practitioners, commended the judiciary for standing firm and helping to shape the country through the decisions that had helped prevent anarchy.

“The decisions of our courts are shaping the country and by these, the judges have demonstrated their capacity and disposition to save the country from anarchy. They are proving that that is indeed the third arm of government,” he said.

Politics2019: PDP Reveals How Buhari Will Lose His ‘political Stronghold’ by 12Ebisco(op): 1:06pm On Jul 23, 2018
https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/buhari.jpg
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari “not to waste his energy on any cosmetic campaign for collection of Permanent Voter Card (PVC)” because the failure of his administration has provided “enough stimuli for Nigerians to fully participate in the 2019 election.”

PDP said the shock that awaits the President will be “an inescapable mortifying electoral loss” in places he currently boasts of as his political stronghold across the country.

A statement by Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP’s spokesperson said “President Buhari, by now, ought to have known that such theatrics, simulated by his handlers, cannot help his self-destroyed public image or reverse the determination of Nigerians to vote him out in 2019.

“This is a leader who declared interest to contest, months ago, without talking about PVCs or engaging in any form of voter education, only for him to suddenly wake up to the reality of the mass wave of PVC collection by Nigerians, which signposts the inevitable electoral humiliation that awaits him and his party in 2019.

“The sad issue is that President Buhari has refused to come to terms with the fact that Nigerians have since moved ahead of him. He does not need to urge them to get their PVCs. They have had enough of his administration with its associated economic hardship, nepotism, bloodletting, violence and killings, and are therefore eagerly collecting the cards with the singular aim of voting him out of office.

“In fact, it appears that Mr. President just started hearing the drumbeat by Nigerians, expressing their dissatisfaction with his incompetence, as well as the corruption and insensitivity of his leadership to their plight as citizens.

“The shock that awaits Mr. President will be an inescapable mortifying electoral loss in places he currently boasts of as his political stronghold as even the people around him today have since deserted him within and only waiting for 2019 to free themselves from the stranglehold of his misrule.

“Mr. President should therefore prepare to accept defeat and to quit the stage for a new President, under the platform of the repositioned PDP, to bring unity, peace and economic prosperity to our nation.”

PoliticsEkiti Election: NLC Reveals Why Fayemi Defeated Olusola Eleka by 12Ebisco(op): 10:53am On Jul 22, 2018
https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Kayode-Fayemi1.jpg
The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has come up with the real reason the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, John Kayode Fayemi, won the last Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State.

Labour said Fayemi won as a result of the failure of the outgoing administration in the state to pay workers their salaries and other benefits.

For this reason, the NLC called on the incoming administration to settle workers salaries and pension immediately it takes over power.

This was contained in the NLC President, Ayuba Wabba’s congratulatory message to Fayemi in Abuja on Saturday.

According to him, Fayemi’s election was a reflection of the popular wishes of the people and their appreciation of the work he started when he was governor of the state.

Wabba advised Fayemi against vilifying or going after his predecessor, adding that he should rather complete the work he started in his first tenure.

Wabba said the newly elected governor should use the opportunity of his second coming to render higher and greater services to the people of Ekiti State, “who have kept faith with you in spite of everything.”

He said, “Few, if any, suffered the level of government-engineered vilification and witch-hunt aimed at frustrating your bid for a second term in office. That you won this election in spite of these obstacles or frustration should be a source of joy and pride to you and your esteemed supporters.

“We believe that the non-payment of workers salary and pension by the outgoing government was enough reason for the vote of no confidence by the people.

“We are confident that one of your first executive actions upon your inauguration would be to clear the backlog of salaries and pension owed Ekiti workers.”

PoliticsOsun Guber: Oshiomhole Reveals Why APC Will Win by 12Ebisco(op): 8:35am On Jul 21, 2018
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomole has said the September 22 Osun State governorship election, will be a “walk-over” for the party.

Oshiohmole stated this while speaking to State House correspondents, after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday.

He explained that APC had no political challenges in Osun, as the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, was at home with the people.

“As for Osun State, we are even much more confident because we have a governor who is at home with his people, a mobiliser, an organiser and an astute politician.

“We have also decided that in order to give people a more sense of ownership in the electoral process, we will use direct primaries, which means that every card-carrying member of APC will participate in choosing who should fly the party’s flag.

“The method will give more people a sense of ownership and a sense of commitment to the candidate that they have all chosen.

“It will also return the party to the grassroots so it can have new sense of renewed ownership, renewed sense of participation and inclusion by itself and a value that will make the actual election easier.

“So, we are confident that the great people of Osun State will vote for our party because the candidate that will emerge will be the candidate chosen by the party members and not the party oligarchy. That makes a lot of difference,” Oshiomhole said.

PoliticsKillings In Nigeria Planned – Dickson Explodes by 12Ebisco(op): 11:11pm On Jul 20, 2018
Bayelsa Governor, Seriake Dickson has declared that killings in Nigeria were premeditated.

He stated this in a lecture on “National Security, Cultural Values and the Challenges of Contemporary Governance, the Bayelsa Experience,” which he delivered in Abuja.

He said that when a nation was under attack or security challenge, the leaders, military, civilians, Christians, Muslims, must come together to address it.

The governor said that what was going on in Nigeria was more than the historical herdsmen and farmers’ clashes, pointing out that the country had lost many innocent souls to the killings.

“Who are the farmers having clashes with herdsmen in Sokoto, Zamfara and other places? We must call a spade a spade for the good of our country.

“We are dealing with a calculated attack on our country. We are dealing with machinery of violence against innocent Nigerians.

“Yes, we have historical incidents of herdsmen and farmers clash but what is going on is far more than that.

“All Nigerians and people of goodwill should show patriotism and let us interrogate these issues properly.”

Dickson also condemned what he called “politicisation of the security, law and order’’.

The governor advised political leaders not stay aloof to issues of insecurity but to work with the security agencies in fighting insecurity.

“Political leaders must be proactive, have a vision to better the lives of the people and must support the work of the security agencies.

“It is the responsibility of political leaders to support the work of men and women in uniform to address insecurity,” he said.

He advised President Muhammadu Buhari to lead the security agencies in addressing challenges in the country, saying that security was the first condition for development.

“Nigerians are right to demand for protection. They expect the security agencies to rise to the occasion and put an end to the killings that are moving from one state to the other.

“If the people are under attack by foreign gunmen, that is the more reason why the security forces and the President, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces should lead the security agencies to repel the foreign attack.

“If these merciless people are foreigners, it means that our nation is under attack, and the first duty of any government is to protect its citizens.

“We have lost enough innocent lives. Instead of these killings abating, it continues to spread.

“That is why I said what is going on in the middle belt, North-East, Niger Delta and other regions of the country is clearly the most potent national insecurity.

“It is an essential threat our country has faced since the civil war,’’ Dickson added.

PoliticsKillings: Saraki’s Chief Of Staff, Baba-ahmed Attacks Buhari by 12Ebisco(op): 10:39am On Jul 19, 2018
Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has attacked the government of President Muhammadu Buhari as lacking the capacity to end the spate of killings by suspected Fulani herdsmen in parts of the country.

Baba-Ahmed was the convener of the Extraordinary Summit of Leaders and Elders of Nigeria in Abuja yesterday.

The summit also had the presence of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and other top dignitaries.

Baba Ahmed said that what necessitated the summit was that things had actually fallen apart, requiring the intervention of elders.

In his welcome and keynote address, Baba-Ahmed, who recently dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, charged Buhari to show firmer and decisive leadership in dealing with the alarming scale of killings and other violent claims.

He said, “The nation is facing unprecedented spate of violence from familiar sources as well as many new fronts, with vast tracts of the nation completely at the mercy of marauding killers, intercommunal conflicts, violent crimes, kidnapping and violent urban gangs.

“The nation’s entire security and law and order assets appear incapable of arresting the drift towards pervasive and widespread conflicts and violent crimes which make every citizen a potential victim. Fear and uncertainty are fueling narratives that create convenient enemies and many communities are in danger of coming to terms with
permanent state of insecurity.

“The failure of government to arrest and successfully prosecute killers is creating the impression of a weak state in which killers and criminals operate almost at will.”

PoliticsFG Will Reconsider Tariff On Local Beverages, Says Ngige by 12Ebisco(op): 1:16am On Jul 18, 2018
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige has assured members of the National Union of Food, Beverage and Tobacco Joint Employers and Workers Association (NUFBTJEWA) that the federal government will review the newly introduced 500 per cent excise duty on locally produced alcoholic beverages.

Ngige disclosed this recently in Abuja while responding to call by leaders of the association who were in his office on a Save Our Soul (SOS) mission.
The Minister said the Economic and Recovery Growth Plan (ERGP) of the government was partly tailored towards job creation rather than losses, saying that the Executive Order No. 1 and 4 are for job creation as well as ensuring that jobs created were done by the locals.

According to him, “You have written to the federal government through me that the increase in excise duty on alcohol and beverages will create job losses because once you add a new cost and pass it on, there will be consumer resistance, resulting in low patronage whereas the products coming from overseas that are being smuggled in which are cheap, will take over the market. It is a statement of fact.

“I have passed your complaints and luckily we have a listening President who wants the good of all Nigerians. He will definitely ask the Minister of Finance and the economic management team to review the tariff.

“We cannot afford to create poverty and job losses here while promoting abundant jobs in other countries. Job losses are not part of this government and will not support the 500 per cent tariff increase.
“This is not to say that we don’t know that in some places available jobs have more than available staff members to match them, but this is a compassionate administration.

“The President does not want to throw many families into anguish. The President always said that he was a salary earner in all his working life.
“You can also see that we did not place an embargo on recruitment as we used to have years ago even while we were under recession. The federal government has been replacing staff members who exited as well as creating new jobs in the public sector. But this has to be complemented with the private sector jobs to have a full blend.”
Furthermore, Ngige who expressed the commitment of the government to the welfare of workers, also referred to the staff housing programme for workers being operated by the office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, under the Federal Integrated Staff Housing (FISH) and other housing programmes meant to provide cheap houses to workers.

As reactions continue to trail the just concluded governorship election in Ekiti State, the Good Governance Ambassadors of Nigeria, GOGAN, has described the outcome of the contest as an indication that Nigerians still love Buhari and would queue behind him in 2019.

The group said the victory of Fayemi Kayode of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the poll showed that 2019 would favour the ruling party.

DAILY POST reports that Fayemi floored his closest rival, Olusola Kolapo to win the keenly contested Guber election after polling 197,459 while the latter garnered 178,114 votes.

GOGAN described the victory as a triumph of the people’s will against propaganda and blackmail.

In a statement issued in Abuja, GOGAN Chairman/CEO, Chief Felix Idiga says the victory was a manifestation of the positive impact of the President Buhari-led administration at the grassroots.

PoliticsWhat Saraki Told US Government About Nigeria by 12Ebisco(op): 9:32pm On Jul 15, 2018
President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has called on the Government of the United States (U.S.) to take its rightful place in trade and investment relationship with the country.

Saraki made the call while addressing the United States Chamber of Commerce on ‘Doing Business and Opportunities in Nigeria’, as part of a parliamentary visit to Washington DC by a National Assembly delegation at the weekend.

The President of the Senate, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanni Onogu, stated that huge investment opportunities exist in Agriculture, Financial Technology (Fintech), Infrastructure, Health and oil and gas in the country that promise huge return on investment for any investor.

Saraki said: “The unique history of Nigeria and the United States, make it imperative that she should remain by far our biggest and closest trade and investment partner. The evolving new vision for the Nigeria economy is within this context of our relationship matrix with the United States as we share similar and converging values.

“However, in recent times, it would appear that China has been the more willing and enthusiastic partner for business and investment. China has already invested or financed a total number of $22billion projects $45bn in Nigeria with another $40b ready for the next phase of infrastructure financing and investments.

“China is approaching Nigeria and the African continent as an investment destination and offering very soft loans to the continent. We are indeed happy. But we are also aware that this is the primary place reserved for our core allies like the United States. We want to see the united States and investors like you here, to development a new lens for assessing Africa.

“We appreciate the aids and humanitarian gestures we receive, but it is no longer enough and in our mutual best interest to continue to ignore the vast opportunity for trade and investment on the continent particularly in Nigeria. We want to see the United States successful with Nigeria diplomatically and economically,” he stated.

He noted that while Nigeria is one of the Sub-Saharan countries eligible for preferential trade agreements under the African Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA) of the U.S. Congress, but going forward, the country intends to exit AGOA at some point into a full fledged trade agreement based trade relations.

“Thus, I urge you to take away from our conversations today to better harness the potentials of our investments, your approach to doing business with us has to be strategic and purposeful. We are opening up avenues for private sector to come in and play their own part,” he stated.

He further stated that the present leadership of the country is not unmindful of the security challenges confronting the nation as it has since commenced action to reform its security architecture in order to boost security for everyone in Nigeria.

He said: “Indeed, we see the challenges as underscoring the urgent need for radical action on our part as Nigerian leaders. We are determined to bridge the gap of economic disparity in Nigerian society, so as to lift 87 million people out of poverty while creating opportunities and prosperity across board.

“To do this successfully requires you, our partners, and investors, to join hands with us to build viable cooperation and partnership that will be of benefit to our two nations. Nigeria’ success holds the key to the success of Africa.

“Our vision is to ensure that we form the nucleus upon which Africa can attain collective and sustained development. In order to do this, Africa needs you and we look forward to working with you,” he stated.

PoliticsEkiti Decides 2018: Live Election Updates, Results, Situation Reports by 12Ebisco(op): 8:46am On Jul 14, 2018
Today, July 14, 2016, the electorates in Ekiti, the Fountain of Knowledge would march to polling booths across the state to elect a new governor of the state.

The eventual winner of today’s contest will take over from Peter Ayodele Fayose, the incumbent governor.

Fayose is expected to take a bow from the government house having successfully completed his tenure as enshrined in the constitution.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had since released names of 40 successful candidates, who have indicated interest in becoming the next governor of the state and met the requirements.

However, among the 40 contenders, 34 candidates will participate in the poll as some candidates withdrew few days to the election.

Two persons have, however, been tipped for the position.

The former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the current deputy governor of the state, Professor Kolapo Olusola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are the two top contenders.

Hence, the Saturday election has been widely narrowed down as a straight contest between Fayemi, a former governor of the state, and Kolapo, Fayose’s deputy.

While Fayemi is having the support of the APC-led government, Kolapo is enjoying the support of his boss, Fayose and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

DAILY POST is currently live in the city of Ekiti State and would bring you live updates, situation reports as well as results from the governorship election considered to be another litmus test for the two giant Nigerian political parties – APC and PDP.

Politics2019: Lamido Speaks On Cupp’s Sole Candidate by 12Ebisco(op): 8:53pm On Jul 12, 2018
Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido has said that all presidential aspirants on the platform of Coalition for United Political Parties (CUPP), are ready to sacrifice their ambitions for a single candidate.

Lamido stated this on Thursday when he met with party members and chieftains at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat on Thursday.

He claimed that the best way to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is to produce one man.

“Those aspirants in the PDP and the coalition are ready to make any sacrifice for the sake of our future generations. I feel sad for them, I feel sad for Nigerians because people just took over power without being prepared for it.

“People are dying everywhere, there is kidnapping everywhere, from here to Abuja, look at Birnin Gwari, Zamfara there is blood everywhere in their desperation for power.

‘They feel embarrassed, and are confused but the entire world is watching us. Everything has failed, you don’t feel secure, you don’t feel safe anywhere. This country is for all of us we are not second citizens.

“APC is scared and desperate, they have stolen our money. PDP has made history, the party has produced three presidents, many governors, senators, reps. All former governors are from PDP. It is now up to Nigerians to compare between the PDP and APC government. Are the APC government of angels? Are they pious? Are they not corrupt?” Lamido said.

PoliticsEkiti Guber: Gov. Emmanuel Condemns Brutality On Fayose by 12Ebisco(op): 4:37pm On Jul 12, 2018
Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state has condemned the reported attack on his Ekiti state counterpart, Ayodele Fayose on Wednesday by the police, describing the development as a rape on Nigeria’s hard-earned democracy.

Governor Emmanuel, who is the national coordinator of his party’s election team in Ekiti, said all PDP governors in the country view the action of the police as an abuse of the constitution of Nigeria.

Speaking during an interaction with Government House correspondents in Uyo, he stressed that the issue was not just about Ekiti state but the entire Nigeria and the sustenance of democratic governance in the country.

His words, “It is not about Fayose or Ekiti State, it is about everyone of us, if it can happen to Fayose, it means it can happen to anybody. We should not just look at Fayose today, we should not just look at Ekiti state, let us look at Nigeria. So, what is happening?”

He maintained, “Elections will come and go, faces will come and go but Nigeria will remain. Let us not do something that will really bring down this country.”

The Governor charged the electorates in Ekiti State not to be intimidated in the face of the challenges, even as he advised security agencies to be civil in their dealings as the country belongs to every citizen.

He again appealed to law enforcement agencies to abide by the law, maintaining that, “this cannot happen in any civilized society where a sitting Governor with full immunity can be so abused publicly. It is a shame for the whole country, it is a shame to all of us.”

Emmanuel said the party was ready for this Saturday’s election and called on security agencies to allow the people the liberty to vote for the candidate of their choice.

He stated that the essence of getting power is to help everybody especially the poor, and advised the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, not to be loyal to any single but to the constitution of Nigeria.

Adeyemi Alao, the boyfriend of Miss Khadijat Oluboyo, the slain daughter of former Ondo State Deputy Governor Lasisi Oluboyo, has denied involvement in her death.

Khadijat, the 25-year-old final year student of Adekunle Ajasin University (AAU), Akungba-Akoko, was found dead on Sunday at the home of her boyfriend in Akure, the state capital.

Alao denied involvement in Khadijat’s death when he faced reporters yesterday at the headquarters of the state police command in Akure.

According to him, it was the slain girl who brought two boys into his room, who eventually killed her.

The suspect said he had dated the late Khadijat for four years before they parted ways in 2015, adding that they only reconciled after the last Ramadan celebration.

Alao, who completed his national service under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 2017, said he had no reason to kill her because he hoped to use her father’s connection to get a job.

The suspect said the late Khadijat was in his house last Thursday because of her project, which he claimed to be helping her to do.

He said they had finished chapter one and her supervisor had approved it, adding that she came for final correction to move to chapter two.

Alao said the girl later travelled to Lagos last Friday to buy some wrist watches but she forgot to drop her project with him and promised to return to school from Lagos.

“Meanwhile, on Saturday, she snapped the soft and hard copies of her project to me on my WhatsApp for correction.

“On Monday, I believed she was already in school when she sent me a text message to send her N2,000. But I was able to send only N1,000.

“So, I was surprised when I heard a knock on my door later in the day and she entered my room.

“She later told me that she wanted to receive some visitors in my place. Few minutes later, she brought two boys in. I was not surprised because that was not her first time of bringing people into my house.

“Later, when they came in, we exchanged greetings and I left them in the room. But after 30 minutes, one of the boys called me in and I discovered he held a small gun in his hand while the other boy was on her, naked.

“I heard Khadijat saying: ‘I will not tell anybody.’ The boy strangled her to death and threatened me not to shout or else they would kill me.

“They later forced me to find a digger with which they dug the ground in my room and buried her. They are the ones that killed and buried her. I could not shout after they left because of the implication of what has happened, for I was sure nobody would believe me.

“On the fifth day, I was not comfortable anymore. So, I exhumed her body and confided in my younger brother who advised that we should inform our father about the development.

“It was my father who informed the police before I was arrested.”

Police spokesman Femi Joseph, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), who paraded Adeyemi with other suspects, said he would soon be charged to court after the completion of investigation.

The spokesman described the suspect’s defence as infantile. He said Alao implicated some people, adding that the command had been trying to get them.

Joseph said: “His defence is very infantile and does not hold any water. I am very sure in the next few hours he should begin to talk.”

On the suspect’s arrest, the spokesman said the command was alerted by an informant while the police responded and arrested the suspect at his home.

He said: “We met the suspect, who happened to be the boyfriend to the late Khadijat, in his room, trying to pack the remains in a sack and this is to tell you that he killed Khadijat.

“According to him, he mentioned some other suspects, now at large, but we found that he single-handedly looked for digger and shovel and dug a grave in his room and buried Khadijat.

“The police immediately swooped in on him, and on close observation of his home, it was discovered that the suspect had actually buried the missing girl for six days and was planning to exhume the remains and finally dispose them.

“According to him, he was not comfortable with the stench from the decomposed body as it was not properly buried.

“The suspect will soon appear in court while effort is on to arrest the suspected accomplices.”

PoliticsSenators Disagree Over PDP, R-APC Coalition Against Buhari by 12Ebisco(op): 2:57pm On Jul 11, 2018
Some federal lawmakers have disagreed over the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) against President Muhammadu Buhari by the PDP, R-APC, and other political parties ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Senator Philip Gyunka on Tuesday described the alliance as “a welcome development”.

Gyunka in a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria said: “The people are tired of the government of the day. I am very optimistic that this coalition will endure; after all, it is the same coalition that brought the current government into power in 2015.

“I believe that come 2019 power will change hands. The APC came preaching change but we have not seen any change.

“I want to assure Nigerians that the real change will happen in 2019 by the grace of God.”

On concerns that the PDP was defeated in 2015 on account of impunity and corruption and may not gain the confidence of the people in 2019, the lawmaker said the party had learnt from its mistakes.

Gyunka added: “We have learnt from our mistakes and we are ready to make amends where we failed.

“We are ready to sit at a roundtable to discuss issues to ensure that there is no imposition of candidates because we have learnt a lot from our past.

“Talking of impunity and corruption, this government is not immune from it; unfortunately they shy away from constructive criticisms.

“God predestines people to power and he whom God pre-destines he calls.”

But, Gyunka’s colleague, Senator Abu Ibrahim, described the coalition as “laughable” and said that APC would not be bothered about it.

He said: “If you take individuals, not more than two or three matter and may have impact in their states.

“They cannot win any election without Buhari. I do not want to mention names but majority of them will not win elections by themselves.

“Some of them matter in their states but they are not more than four out of this jamboree.

“For Buba Galadima, has he ever won an election? He was the longest parasite that hung to Buhari because he couldn’t deliver anything.

“I have been with them for the past 15 years, so I know them and their antics. Can he win his ward in Yobe? They do not even know him there.

“He is only an Abuja politician and in Abuja, he has no constituency except the constituency of the mouth.”

He added that the APC was not afraid of the large number of parties coming together, adding that many of them did not have members.

He said: “Of all those parties, tell me the one that has members. It is only R-APC that we may lose one governor to and three or four senators that is all.”

Ibrahim expressed optimism that the APC would win the 2019 elections, adding that most of the parties forming coalition did not have structure.

CelebritiesI’m On Same Level With Davido, Wizkid -yemi Alade Boasts by 12Ebisco(op): 9:12pm On Jul 10, 2018
Nigerian pop artiste, Yemi Alade has boasted that she is operating on the same level with David ‘Davido’ Adeleke and Ayo ‘Wizkid’ Balogun.

Speaking on Tuesday in an interview with Hot FM (98.3), the ‘Johnny’ singer said there was no number one.

“I respect everybody, we all inspire each other in this industry… there is actually no number one because your top five artistes in Nigeria that are the biggest in Africa can shut down the exact same capacity.

“The same capacity Wizkid holds down in Africa, I hold it down, the same capacity Davido holds down in Africa, I hold it down, the same venues, we all shut it down.

“So there is no number one, and that is the truth but not everybody will agree to that, people will say Yemi shut up but that is the truth. Why don’t we go ask the promoters, the people who know the numbers?” She said.

Alade made emphasis on her tour which had a large turnout saying “I just concluded my 13-city European tour and the turnout was amazing.

“I have pretty much been touring for over three years, it’s a big privilege for me.

“For me now, I think it is beyond the music, I think people also come out for what I stand for, the fact that I stand for Africa unapologetically and originally as I can.

”What I have done with this kind of career that puts you in the limelight and keeps you vulnerable to everybody’s opinion, is I just have to make sure my opinion is paramount, it is number one.”

PoliticsAPC Reacts To R-APC, PDP, Other Parties’ Mou Against Buhari by 12Ebisco(op): 12:32pm On Jul 10, 2018
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, R-APC and 38 other political parties.

The main objective of the agreement is to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

In a statement by its spokesman, Bolaji Abdulahhi, APC rubbished the memorandum as it insisted that the party was not factionalized.

It reads: “On Monday, July 9, 2018, a group of individuals under the so-called ‘Reformed All Progressives Congress’ platform purportedly joined a coalition of opposition political parties ahead of the 2019 general elections.

“We respect the right of everyone to join any association or group. However, we wish to reiterate that the so-called R-APC is not a faction of our Party. Our Party, the APC remains united under the leadership of our President, H.E. Muhammadu Buhari.

“It is also noteworthy that some political parties that have been named as signatories to the MoU have disassociated themselves from the publicized deal.

“We once again reiterate the commitment of our Party to address real grievances of our genuine members. We call on them to take advantage of this opportunity while the windows for reconciliation are still open.

“We are confident that no level of gang-up can make our government under President Buhari to waiver in its promises to Nigerians to rid our country of corruption and improve the quality of lives for our people.”

PoliticsWhy Buhari Must Break Silence On ‘illegal Award Of $25bn Oil Contract Award By H by 12Ebisco(op): 6:51pm On Jul 09, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Monday challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to speak out on the allegation of “illegal award of oil contracts worth $25 billion under his watch”.

PDP lamented that the alleged complicity of the “Buhari Presidency coupled with Mr. President’s failure to address the reported fraudulent contracts awarded through the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has earned the nation a huge embarrassment of being labeled a ‘kleptocracy’ in the international arena.”

In a statement by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP said, “Nigerians wonder how President Buhari and his handlers felt when they read the new book by a former United States Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell, and former US Intelligence Community Expert on Nigeria, Matthew Page, where our dear nation was described as ‘a kleptocracy’, because of the humongous corruption, festering unchecked, in the Buhari administration.

“The new book has further vindicated the stance of the PDP that corruption has skyrocketed under President Buhari, as also emphasized in reports by other international bodies, including the United States Department of State, the Amnesty International (AI) and Transparency International (TI), which recently declared that corruption has escalated in Nigeria under President Buhari, despite his nebulous anti-corruption claims.

“The book also aligns with our party’s position that President Buhari’s incompetence, utterances and failure to live up to expectation as the father and chief security officer of the nation are directly responsible for the escalated acrimony, bloodletting and killings in various parts of our country in the last three years.

“Indeed, as captured by the book, the impunity and constitutional violations by Buhari administration has done a lot of harm against our nation, while his failure to address the endemic corruption in his administration, particularly in the Petroleum sector, where he presides as the Minister of Petroleum Resources, is hurting the image of our nation.

“President Buhari has failed to address the alleged stealing of N1.1 trillion worth of crude oil as well as the sleazy oil subsidy deals by interests close to his administration.

“President Buhari has failed to address the alleged diversion of N18 billion Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) fund. He has also refused to address the alleged stealing of N10 billion National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) by APC officials and Presidency cabal, among other sharp practices in his government.”

The PDP then called on Nigerians and the international community to impress it on President Buhari to “save our nation from further embarrassment by ending the official concealment of corruption in his presidency and open his administration for an independent inquest on corruption”.

PoliticsPDP Rejects Dino Melaye, Gives Reasons by 12Ebisco(op): 10:13am On Jul 09, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kogi West Elders’ Forum, KWEF, has said it will vehemently reject any attempt to impose Senator Dino Melaye as the sole senatorial candidate of the party in 2019.

Chairman of the Forum, Shaibu Momoh said this while speaking after they met yesterday in Lokoja, the state capital, to deliberate on Melaye’s official planned defection to PDP.

This development comes amidst Dino’s planned defection to the party aytime soon.

Speaking on behalf of the elders, Momoh said if Melaye was allowed to contest in any free and fair election in the state now, the party would be defeated.

Momoh said Melaye will be a liability and not an asset to the former ruling party in the state.

He said, “Melaye is seen as too controversial and his unacceptable behaviors are the serious negative views of the public against him. He cannot win any election in a free and fair atmosphere and PDP should therefore not gamble with him as a candidate for now.

“He needs a serious reformation period which PDP Kogi state do not have the luxury of time to dispense.

“The leadership of PDP in the state under the two former governors of the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, Captain Idris Wada, senator Tunde Ogbeha Alhaji Musa Ahmadu and host of other critical stakeholders have been struggling to rebrand a PDP that can recapture power from an aggressive non-performing government of APC in the state.

“They have reconciled several prominent strong men and women who came back to the party and their re-entrance back to PDP is without any condition or concession but genuine. Imposition of a Senatorial candidate will cause a major derailment and unimaginable crisis that PDP may not overcome before the general election.

“The critical leaders are on ground and they understand this great danger and trap, hence their rejection of this Dino imposition.

“Senator Dino Melaye is welcome to PDP as specified under the Constitution of the party. He is free to aspire to any position of his choice but must take cognisance of existing mutual arrangement.

“He will not be discriminated against in any form in the conduct of the affairs in the state. He should come into the party with genuine open mind and contribute meaningfully to growth of the PDP like any other senior member of the party”.

PoliticsShehu Sani Reveals How Buhari, National Assembly Can Settle Rift by 12Ebisco(op): 6:43pm On Jul 08, 2018
Senator Shehu Sani, who represents Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has proposed solutions to the long-running feud between President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and members of the National Assembly.

In a Facebook post he titled, ‘Immediate recipe for peace between the Presidency and the Parliament’ on Sunday, Sani identified at least seven quick steps to be taken by the concerned arms of government.

The lawmaker advised the presidency, to cease attacks on members of the parliament in form of intimidation and use of state apparatus. He added that the presidency should prevail on its appointees to respect summons of the National Assembly.

“The Presidency must end the systematic demonisation of the leadership and members of the parliament;

“End the use of state apparatus to hunt, frame, intimidate and persecute legislators;

“End political trials, compel President’s appointees to honour and respect summons and accord the senate President and the Speaker House of Representatives their due respect,” he wrote.

On the part of the National Assembly, Sani called on the legislators to pace up passage of executive bills, confirm the president’s nominees and accord him more respect.

“The Parliament should confirm pending President’s nominees, liquidate the thought and proposals for impeachment, speed up the passage of executive bills and accord the President the respect he deserves as our Leader,” he said.

Sani concluded by enjoining the presidency to halt sponsorship of protests against the National Assembly.

“Last note; The Presidency should end the sponsorship of synthetic protests and the Parliament should ceasefire on the launching of verbal cruise missiles to the villa.”

CelebritiesMovie Producers Can No Longer Afford Me – Jim Iyke by 12Ebisco(op): 10:38am On Jul 06, 2018
In an interview with NET, Nollywood actor Jim Iyke, who is popular for his lover boy role in movies, spoke on why he hasn’t been featuring in movies lately. According to him, movie producers can’t afford him, which is why it seems like he’s been away.

“I have not been away, it is the producers who cannot afford me. So, I know my worth. But I have been busy creating opportunities and jobs for Nigerian youths so that we all can live better lives,” he said.

Reacting to the popular belief out there that today’s actors lack creativity, Jim Iyke said the same accusations were thrown at his generation when they started acting.

“It is wrong to say today’s artists lack productivity and talent. When the likes of Ramsey Nuoah, Emeka Ike and I were acting, that was what was said about us as well, but I did not let it bother me. We learnt on the job and we got better with time. So, I think they will also get better with time.”
