As the Nigerian Army flagged off Operation LAST HOLD in Northern Borno, over 2000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have returned to their ancestral home Gudunbali for the first time in six years.

The Eid prayers were observed in the Headquarters of Guzamalla Local Government Area Council.

The IDPs were delighted to be back in their ancestral home as well as the resuscitation of two boreholes by the Chairman of Guzamalla LG.

The returnee IDPs, drawn from different camps, were assured of their safety and government’s assistance in rebuilding their homes and livelihoods.

Building materials are already being stockpiled for distribution as efforts are in top gear to clear and open up more communities in the Nine Local Government Area Councils of Northern Borno.

PoliticsFormer SGF, Babachir Lawal Speaks On Being Investigated By EFCC by 12Ebisco(op): 8:00am On Jun 15, 2018
A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has said he is happy with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s investigations into allegations of corruption against him.

Lawal stated this during an exclusive interview with Channels Television’s Hard Copy.

“I like it (the investigation).

“In fact, I had always wanted the EFCC to be involved because the EFCC has the capacity both in terms of equipment and personnel to get to the truth,” he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari fired Lawal on October 30, 2017, but he insists that nothing will affect his relationship with the president.

“If the President were to be my brother, does it mean we cease to be brothers because I am being investigated by the EFCC? A relationship breaks because of a false accusation against an innocent man,” Lawal said.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who headed the committee that probed Lawal, had submitted the report to the President on August 23, 2017.

Before being fired, the former SGF was placed on suspension for more than three months, to allow for the investigation.

Christianity EtcI Will Shut Up If Buhari Stops Killings – Apostle Suleman Fires Back At Father by 12Ebisco(op): 10:26pm On Jun 14, 2018
Founder of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleiman has responded to the counsel of his biological father not to criticize President Mohammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In an interview with Vanguard on Thursday, the cleric reiterated that the Buhari-led administration should take the issue of the security of lives and property of the citizenry seriously.

His words: “My father is my number one hero in this life and I respect him so much; hence I would never hurt his feelings over any sort of domestic or public matters.

“Ordinarily speaking, I wouldn’t have responded to my father’s press statements, based on my cultural upbringing that prohibits children from reacting to parental chastening, but rather accept the wisdom that comes out of such actions

“But let me state that, I have never been interested in any form of political activities or happenings all my life; neither do I belong to any political party/association. I am an ardent crusader for equity and justice for all.”

The fiery preacher warned those bent on creating problems in his private life all in the name of politics to get busy with more productive issues.

“Being a preacher and a defender of the gospel of Jesus Christ for many years, I find it hard to keep mute and pretend, or even look away while Christians and innocent people of other faith are being massacred at random.

“Its against my belief. Hence, I have consistently cried out to the government for quick intervention. My simple offence is that I speak against the activities of herdsmen who kill Christians and defenceless Nigerians at will and get away with it.

“While no government body or security agency seem to be doing or saying anything about it. I reiterate my position today, that I shall not stop talking about it, calling on the government to rise to its responsibility of protecting lives and property of the Nigerian people.

“Neither will I stop condemning the state of insecurity in Nigeria and the unabated spate of killings of innocent citizens of our land by those who are ordinarily supposed to have been criminalized, proscribed and prosecuted by now.

“I have never been against any Government let alone the APC government. But I urge the President and his cabinet to do the needful in curbing the high rate of insecurity ravaging our country.

“Mr. President should also rise up and do justice to all Nigerians; irrespective of the people’s socio-political, ethnic or religious affiliations. Let the killing of Christians stop and will keep quiet,” he said.

PoliticsLabour Party Rejects Mimiko by 12Ebisco(op): 8:05am On Jun 14, 2018
The Labour Party (LP) has rejected plans by the immediate past Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko to return to the party.

Recall that Mimiko on Wednesday resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Dr Mike Omotosho, Chairman, Labour Party made this known while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.

Omotosho also said the party had no candidate for the forthcoming Governorship election in Ekiti state.

According to him, LP was fully aware of plans by Dr Mimiko to destabilize the current gains being made by workers to reclaim and reposition the party.

“It is very obvious that the sole purpose of Mimiko’s re-approach to Labour Party is to use the workers’ party to launder his sagging political image.

“Nigerians would recall that Mimiko abandoned the Labour Party for the Peoples Democratic Party a few days to Labour Party’s October 2015 National Convention.

“Such a treachery and betrayal of a party that gave the former Governor succour in the darkest hour of his political career, especially, as it manifests in his two term victory on the ticket of Labour Party is to say the least, cheap and callous.

“It also revealed paucity of knowledge of the philosophy of the Labour Party as a people rooted party and dearth of class consciousness on his part, ‘’ Omotosho said.

The chairman further said that the leadership would continue to work to rebuild the Labour Party, especially through the instrumentality of the Political Commission.

He, however, urged all workers and indeed genuine lovers of popular democracy to ignore the political theatrics of people like the former Governor of Ondo state.

“He has shown Nigerian workers that he cannot be trusted. The Labour Party is no longer a transit bus to strange political destinations, particularly under the subterfuge of people like him.

“In the same vein, the Labour Party wishes to categorically disown and-condemn recent posturing and proclamations by some ‘politicians in Ekiti State.

“That they are the candidates of the Labour Party in the forthcoming governorship elections in Ekiti State.

“The Labour Party has no candidate in the July 14, 2018 governorship election in Ekiti State.

“lNEC, workers and the Ekiti electorate should not allow themselves to be hoodwinked by the antics of political impostors,’’ Omotosho said.

PoliticsBenue Killings: Nigerians Will Accept Ranching Like June 12 – Ortom by 12Ebisco(op): 1:44pm On Jun 12, 2018
Governor Samuel Ortom has stated that no matter how long it takes, ranching will eventually be accepted by the people of Nigeria.

He spoke on Monday in Naka, Gwer West Local Government Area during the traditional marriage between his friend, Architect Asema Achado and Princess Freda Nguamo Damna.

Governor Ortom also noted that Benue’s position on the matter was being vindicated daily.

He cited resolutions of the Northern and Southern Governor’s fora, National Economic Council as well as the most recent enactment of the law by the Abia State Government as indications that ranching was inevitable in the 21st century.

The Governor stated, “Just like the case of the June 12 presidential election, it took 25 years for the federal government to officially acknowledge that Moshood Kashimawo Abiolo won the presidential election.”

He commended President Buhari for the courage to acknowledge the truth and urged him to accept the same principle in the matter of ranching.

Governor Ortom stated that his concern for now was for peace to return to Benue communities more than any other thing else.

He charged couples to be faithful to their marital vows, even as he pledged to support people of the state to fulfil marital obligations.

A member of the nPDP who became member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the APC, Prince Benjamin Apugo, has assured that their decision to suspend further discussions with the Presidency will not lead them into pulling out of the ruling party.

He also appealed to the president to create presidential liaison offices in non-APC-controlled states; akin to what ex-President Shehu Shagari did during in the Second Republic.

PoliticsClaims Obasanjo & Atiku Plans To Gang Up Against President Buhari – El-rufai’s S by 12Ebisco(op): 11:20am On Jun 11, 2018
Bashiru, one of the sons of Kaduna state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has claimed that former president Olusegun Obasanjo and his then deputy, Atiku Abubakar, have become friends again.

According to him, both past leaders now have “a common enemy” in President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Only a common enemy like Buhari can make Obasanjo & Atiku friends again.

“And the unholy merger is dead on arrival,” Bashiru tweeted.

Obasanjo on Friday claimed that the Buhari government was planning to frame him and consequently kill him.

The former President, in a statement by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, said the Buhari-led administration intends to use fake documents and witnesses against him.

PoliticsArrest Obasanjo Now – Abia Guber Aspirant, Ukauwa Tells Buhari by 12Ebisco(op): 10:44am On Jun 10, 2018
A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Abia state, Ambassador Chidike Ukauwa has called for the immediate arrest of the former President Olusegun Obsanjo for rising frivolous alarm, alleging that President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has hatched plan to assassinate him.

DAILY POST reported that Former President Olusegun Obasanjo had last week, alleged that Buhari- administration wanted to frame him.

Ukauwa made the call in a statement issued to newsmen by his media office in Abuja, and was made available to DAILY POST on Sunday, in Umuahia, while reacting on Obasanjo’s claims on threat to his life by the Buhari-led federal government.

The APC chieftain, expressed displeasure over what he termed as ‘false allegation’ leveled against the federal government by the ex-president.

Ukauwa advised the former President to clear himself over the claim by the federal government that his then administration expended $16 billion on power sector, without no improvement on the sector.

He warned Obasanjo to desist from heating up the polity unnecessarily, and clear himself, if he has no skeleton in his cupboard.

The politician also threatened to sue the federal government if it fails to persecute the ex-president over his role in the misappropriation of $16 billion meant for the power sector.

The governorship hopeful, however urged Nigerians to disregard the vituperation of Obasanjo, who according to him, was being affected by long scale corruption which ran under his then PDP-led administrations.

Parts of the statement reads”, I have observing the unfolding scenario in the country, especially the allegation of attempted assassination leveled by former President Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo against the federal government.

“I condemn the former President false alarm on the threat to his life intended to heat up the polity unnecessarily. If Obasanjo feels he has no skeleton, he should come up and defend himself.

“Obasanjo had in recent time dared the Buhari-led government to probe over the power sector. I am calling on President Buhari, if truly he is sincerely in the fight corruption, should persecute the former President.

” And failure by federal government to commence legal action against Obasanjo, we would sue FG to court.

PoliticsKachikwu Steps Into JTF, Nembe Community Clash Over Oil Theft by 12Ebisco(op): 6:03am On Jun 10, 2018
The Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, at the weekend moved to stem the tide of clashes between oil bearing communities in the Niger Delta and the Joint Military Task Force (JTF) detailed to secure oil installations in the region, visiting Nembe, where the youths were up in arms last week over alleged complicity of the military in large scale oil theft.

Kachikwu, who had taken a lead role in the Muhammadu Buhari administration’s efforts to pacify the region during the resurgence of militancy in 2015 and 2016, met with community leaders and youths in Nembe over their concerns and gave a firm commitment that the federal government would take urgent steps to address them.

Last week, protesting youths and civil society organisations from the region took to the streets of Abuja to ask for the removal of Rear Admiral Suleiman Apochi, the Commander of the JTF, Operation Delta Safe, who they alleged was culpable in the growing theft of oil.

They specifically fingered the JTF for been culpable of repeated breaches on the Nembe Creek Trunk Line (NCTL) which is a 97-kilometer – 150,000 barrels per day capacity pipeline that takes oil to the Bonny export terminal from oil fields in the region.

Kachikwu, who said the government was worried about the development and its impacts on the environment and economy of Nigeria, told the people at the weekend that an end would be put to the unwholesome practise.

He said reported cases of theft and haulage of crude oil from the Niger Delta despite its waterways been heavily militarised was troubling. Apparently gobsmacked that large crude carrying vessels could easily pass through existing security corridors in the region’s waterways untroubled, Kachikwu said he will take back to Buhari what he found out for a quick proactive action to be taken.

The minister didn’t state the kind of actions that would be taken by the government, but he said the country’s security chiefs and National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj-Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd.), would be briefed on this with an intention to find a good solution to it.

According to him, the development was unhealthy for the economy of Nigeria and environment of the Niger Delta. He said it also signified the JTF had been infiltrated with bad eggs who could be working with the oil thieves.

He said: “I am here to see what is going on and how we can stop it. We will continue the tour, you can see we’ve been flying around with helicopters, trying to see where these points are.

“We are going to take words back to the headquarters to see how we can meet with the defence chiefs, and National Security Adviser. I will take words back to the president in terms of what the experience has been here.”

According to him: “For the fact that vessels can actually come through the security corridors and pick up oil is even much more troubling. It may not have been oil, it may have been arms. Something needs to be done in terms of security and environment as well as the economy of the country.”

Asked if the government would continue to rely on just human efforts to overcome repeated theft of oil in the region, Kachikwu said: “That solution is there, it is happening. The fact that you have oil production go up shows that some of those blockages have been addressed.

“It is a mixture of security efficiency and technology infusion and obviously a very consistent engagement. At the end of the day, these individuals who do this are members of the communities, they are not falling out from the sky, and so, it is consistently engaging the traditional rulers, the youths who are involved in all these to be vigilant like what they do now because it is easier to just join the practice, benefit from it and keep quite.

“When the communities gather this way, we must recognise their resilience and courage and do something to ensure that they don’t become victims.”

In his complaints to Kachikwu, Chief Noman Atonkere, who described himself as the chairman of oil and gas Nembe kingdom, as well as the coordinator of the community security team employed by Spyer Nigeria, which has an existing security and maintenance contract on NCTL with Aiteo Group, claimed the JTF had been found culpable in the act by his team.

Atonkere, stated: “I discovered a lot of illegal refineries, bunkering points, loading points all over the area of my jurisdiction. I see some vessel come in to load and go back and there is security everywhere. We who are civilian security cannot do anything because we don’t have arms and when we call there is no response. That is why we called on the federal government to assist us to fight this.

“That is why we are asking the government to assist us because the job of the JTF is to protect the assets and people. Not all JTF are bad. Some are good and some are bad.

PoliticsBuhari Vs Obasanjo: ‘get Ready To Clear Your Name, Don’t Be Afraid Of Arrest, Tr by 12Ebisco(op): 6:29pm On Jun 09, 2018
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said that former President Olusegun Obasanjo should rather be ready to clear his name of any allegation that would be made against him and stop raising the alarm on plot to arrest and try him.

Obasanjo had on Friday accused the President Muhammadu Buhari of planning to frame him.

He claimed that he has been informed of his name included on the government’s “watch list”, and that the security of his life cannot be guaranteed

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, on Saturday, Governor Fayose said; “when other Nigerians were at the receiving end of President Buhari’s dictatorship, Obasanjo was going in and out of the Presidential Villa.

He pointed out that; “Nigerians are being humiliated and tried every day by the dictatorial government of President Muhammadu Buhari that he (Obasanjo) helped to enthrone. Some of us have gone through trials before and we are not afraid of trials even today.”

The governor, who said Obasanjo deserves whatever humiliation he was getting from President Muhammadu Buhari, added that; “The President can go ahead and arrest Obasanjo if he desires but he should remember that what goes around comes around. He won’t be President forever too. After all, they have been intimidating and humiliating former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife.”

Governor Fayose referred to Page 96 of Obasanjo’s book, ‘My Watch’, in which he wrote that; ‘…I prefer him (Buhari) to jail me than Jonathan to return to destroy this nation…,’ noting that; “Since Obasanjo himself said he preferred to be jailed by Buhari and worked for his enthronement, the President can hasten his arrest and imprisonment. Obasanjo should not be afraid to go to prison now.”

“Where was he when Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) was arrested and detained

since 2015 despite court orders for his release? When over 1,000 members of the Nigeria’s Islamic Movement were killed in Zaria and their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky arrested and dumped in detention since 2016 despite of court orders, what did Obasanjo do?

“Where was Obasanjo when armed men of the DSS invaded the Ekiti State House Assembly and abducted one of its members? Did Obasanjo travel out of Nigeria when judges were being arrested in the night in a Gestapo manner?

“Obasanjo lacks moral rights to complain about Buhari’s government because himself and the President have been partners for over 40 years. It was when President Buhari served as Minister of Petroleum and NNPC Chairman in 1977 under Obasanjo that N2.8 billion oil money went missing from the accounts of the NNPC in Midlands Bank, United

Kingdom.

“Both Buhari and Obasanjo are already spent forces and have gone senile. Nigerians no longer need the two old men and the more they fight themselves, the better for the country.”

PoliticsAbiola’s Daughter: Recognition Of June 12 Will Lead To New Nigeria by 12Ebisco(op): 6:21am On Jun 08, 2018
Obasanjo returned to power on Abiola’s blood

Ejiofor Alike

The daughter of the presumed winner of June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief MKO Abiola, Tundun, has stated that the recognition of June 12 by President Muhammadu Buhari will return Nigeria to the time when tribe and religion did not matter.

Speaking Thursday on ARISE Television, the sister broadcast arm of THISDAY Newspapers, Tundun stated that former President Olusegun Obasanjo returned to national leadership in 1999 on Abiola’s blood but failed to acknowledge him as a result of sheer pettiness.

She said she was highly elated and profoundly grateful to President Buhari, adding that it takes real leadership and moral courage to do what is right as Buhari did.

According to her, the recognition of June 12 is very important on many levels.

“When you look at Nigeria today, can you imagine emerging on Muslim-Muslim ticket? It would never work. But in 1993, they won overwhelmingly. So, Nigeria has regressed in the important factor of national unity. We do not perceive each other as Nigerians. We are going, first, to religion, and then, tribe. We have become so divided. So, it is more important now than ever before to remind us of a time when all these distinctions did not matter. We are Nigerians first and foremost and that is most important,” she explained.

She stated that President Buhari’s gesture is a lesson in being appreciated, adding that there is no incentive for public office holders or those aspiring to serve in any way to do it so dutifully when there was such miscarriage of justice like the way June 12 struggle was erased from history.

“What is the incentive to put yourself on the line? What is the incentive to invest when you are not going to be appreciated; when you will be rubbished?“ she asked.

She commended Buhari for reversing the trend.
Reacting to claims that President Buhari honoured her father to earn the support of the South-west in 2019 elections, the younger Abiola stressed that she would not blame anybody for holding such cynical view, adding that Nigerians have become so wary of even a good gesture because there is little to keep people hopeful.

She, however, debunked the claims, saying that many elections have been held since 1999 and they won in the South-west without honouring her father.

She added that while the recognition of June 12 has served justice for the June 12 struggle, justice is yet to be served for the murder of Abiola.

She also recalled that her step mother, Mrs. Kudirat Abiola, was also brutally murdered.

“There are two different factors. If an election is annulled, he did not have to be killed. So, Justice has not been served for his murder because we don’t know – nobody has been held accountable and found guilty for the murder of this human being whose life was lost. So, Justice has not been served at all,” she explained.

She disclosed that President Obasanjo returned to national leadership in 1999 on the blood of Abiola but failed to acknowledge him as a result of pettiness.

According to her, the situation between Abiola and Obasanjo was like Macbeth and the Ghost of Banquo.
“Macbeth tried to deny and suppress but the ghosts will not leave him alone, which is why in his (Obasanjo) life time, President Buhari has done what he ought to have done,” she said.

She also stated that the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and former President Goodluck Jonathan did not honour Abiola because they did not want to offend Obasanjo, who helped them ascend to power.

She also applauded the efforts by the Senate to have the results of June 12, 1993 elections announced, adding that she would not like her father to be referred to as the ‘presumed’ winner of the election any longer.

PoliticsWike Spent N500m Against Buhari Govt, APC In 1 Year – Peterside by 12Ebisco(op): 4:45pm On Jun 07, 2018
Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr Dakuku Peterside has accused the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike of squandering over N500 million against the President Muhammadu Buhari government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last one year.

Peterside said this in an interview with journalists on the sidelines of the ongoing International Labour Organisation (ILO) conference in Geneva, Switzerland.

According to him, “With fear gripping Governor Wike that he will lose the Rivers governorship election in 2019,” the governor has embarked on a blitz of campaigns aimed at blackmailing the Presidency, Police, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Army, and APC leadership at local and national levels among others.

Peterside said: “In the last one year, Wike has been funding open and underground insurrection aimed at portraying the Presidency in a bad light, just as he has devoted enormous resources of the state to blackmail the Inspector General of Police, Rivers Police Commissioner, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Commander, Akin Fakorede, among others.

“With some INEC officials in Rivers state currently facing allegations of being bribed to influence the outcome of 2015 general elections, the governor has suddenly developed high fever, using all manner of platforms to denigrate the electoral body and trying to make people believe he was not a beneficiary of the election heist,” he stated.

The NIMASA boss claimed that he had been reliably informed by sources within Government House, Port Harcourt that no less than N500 million had been spent so far on the hatchet jobs against the aforementioned people and institutions, with another round of campaign being mobilized in the next couple of weeks.

He further disclosed that the governor has recruited people specifically for the purpose of generating propaganda against President Buhari, Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, Senator Andrew Uchendu, APC chairman in Rivers state, Ojukaye Flag Amachree and himself, adding that one of the governor’s aides has been penciled to lead the team.

“Here is a governor who withdrew Rivers students from foreign schools for alleged lack of money, a governor that has not paid many workers for close to three years, owing pensioners and has no known vision but he is ready to spend such huge amount of money on blackmail and propaganda.

“The 13,000 teachers employed by former Governor Amaechi are still being owed three months after their biometric exercise… Some of the workers and pensioners met me recently and I felt for them.

“Here are Rivers people who have worked and devoted their time to better the lots of the citizenry but cannot get paid because of the inhuman attitude of the governor. The money he has spent on his personal agenda is enough to pay these people and make their families survive.

“My source in Government House also revealed that huge sums of money are being given to praise singers and hired crowds who are daily organizing one solidarity rally after the other as a way of getting their share of Wike’s largesse. This surely won’t last forever, as Rivers people are already tired of the governor and his antics,” he added.

PoliticsSenate Vows To Investigate NNPC, Iocs For Breach Of Local Content Laws by 12Ebisco(op): 7:33am On Jun 04, 2018
The Senate Committee on Local Content has vowed to investigate the non patronage of a multi-million dollar internationally certified Nigerian Pipe Manufacturing and Coating Company, SCC Nigeria Limited by NNPC and International Oil Companies (IOCs) contrary to the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act since 2014.

Speaking at an oversight visit to the company in Ushafa, a suburb in Abuja, Chairman of the Committee, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola lamented that a company which had over 500 employees was left idle.

He said the Company had in time past manufactured different specifications of pipes for NNPC, Mobil Producing, Shell Development Company Limited, Nigeria Agip Oil Company, Chevron Nigeria Limited to the tune of $183.76 million between 2008 and 2014 and has not been patronised again.

Senator Solomon Adeola, who led 11 members of his Committee, including two principal officers of the Senate on an inspection tour of the factory over the weekend, said that the Committee will investigate the possible breach of the NOGICD Act by the NNPC and IOCs beyond the issue of competitive pricing.

He added that, “there is no way our local industries can be competitive against foreign company’s imported products without patronage based on our local content law.

“We are surprised that we have such an internationally certified company here in Nigeria with antecedent of executing major contracts in the past and employing many Nigerians not being patronized as per our law.

“Already, some constituents of a member of the Senate has been laid off as a result of non patronage while huge foreign exchange has been taken abroad to procure pipes.

“Our law grants local company right of first refusal and there is no reason why this should not apply to this company,” Senator Adeola stated.

Adeola requested the company to furnish the Committee with relevant information on their predicament as the Committee was going to take up the issue with NNPC, IOCs and other stakeholders with a view to ensuring that the company employed many Nigerians

Senator Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi West) a member of the Committee described as unacceptable to have such a huge specialized manufacturing concern which has employed many Nigerians remain idle.

“We will not accept the NNPC and OICs to take pipeline contracts abroad contrary to our law. The Committee must dig further to unravel why the company is not being patronized beyond the issue of competitive pricing”, Dino said.

Earlier, the Director of Operation of SCC Nigeria Limited, Engineer Wale Adebayo told members of the Committee that the Company got its last order in 2014, saying that since then there had been several pipeline contracts in the industry without recourse to the only Nigeria pipe manufacturing and coating company.

PoliticsBenue Killings: State Govt Blasts Muslim Leaders, Reveals Real Attackers by 12Ebisco(op): 12:12pm On Jun 03, 2018
Benue State Government, on Saturday, faulted the Jama’atul Nasril Islam, for failing to condemn the several open threats and inciting statements by the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and its sympathisers.

A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Lawrence Onoja, stated that the JNI was attempting to use the herdsmen attacks on the state to misrepresent facts by portraying Governor Samuel Ortom as creating an atmosphere of religious intolerance in Benue..

Onoja said, “Nothing can be farther from the truth. We stand by our earlier statements concerning the herdsmen crisis in the state.

“There are documented evidences that confirm that the MAKH and MACBAN, along with their sympathisers have been making inciting statements.

“This suggests that the attacks on Benue State are motivated by ulterior motives beyond a struggle for open grazing.

“It is on the record that the National Vice-President of MACBAN, Husaini Bosso, warned that there would be more bloodshed in Benue if the anti-open grazing law is not scrapped.

“This was barely 48 hours after the mass burial of the 73 victims killed by herdsmen in January 2018.

“Despite being a predominantly Christian state, there are also Muslims in the state going about their lawful business.

“We strongly discourage and would resist any attempt from any quarters to polarise our state along ethnic and religious lines,” Onoja added.

CelebritiesSee Photo Of Coca-cola’s First Alcoholic Drink by 12Ebisco(op): 8:21am On Jun 01, 2018
Coca-Cola on Monday launched its first ever alcoholic drink in Japan a fizzy, lemon-flavoured concoction laced with spirits that seeks to capitalize on the growing popularity of “chuhai” alcopops enjoyed especially by young women – in a bid to acquire new markets and consumers.

It is understood that the three fizzy lemon drinks went on sale on Monday and is available in the southern Kyushu region of Japan.

Described by Coca-Cola as “unique” in the company’s 125-year history, the three drinks range from 3% to 8% alcohol.

In keeping with the company’s tradition, the recipe is closely guarded but the drinks are modelled on the country’s popular Chu-Hi drinks, usually a mix of local spirit and a range of fruit flavours.

A 350-millilitre can sells for 150 yen ($1.40).

“This is a pilot project in the region which has a sizable market,” Masaki Iida, spokesman for Coca-Cola’s Japanese unit, told AFP.

He declined to reveal the exact spirit in the drink, as the recipe is a closely guarded secret.

Coca Cola product developers got the idea after visiting Japanese-style “izakaya” pubs, where they discovered that lemon-flavoured drinks are very popular, according to the firm’s website.

The popular “chuhai” drinks — which contain vodka or a distilled, grain-based spirit called “shochu” — come in a range of flavours such as gR@pe, strawberry, kiwi and white peach.

They range in strength from between three and nine percent and are particularly popular with young drinkers, especially women.

Coca-Cola is wading into an already competitive market, where major Japanese companies such as Suntory, Kirin and Asahi dominate the shelves.

PoliticsDemocracy Day: What Gov. Bindow Did After Ordering Low-key Celebration In Adamaw by 12Ebisco(op): 3:13pm On May 29, 2018
Governor Muhammadu Bindow of Adamawa state has ordered the release of 33 prisoners serving various jail terms in prisons across the state to commemorate the 2018 Democracy Day.

This was after he stated that the state will not be celebrating the national event in a big way because of the sad mood it has found itself.

“Although it will have been appropriate for us to roll out the drums and celebrate Democracy Day in a big way, but the mood of our state will not allow that.

“We are faced with few challenges related to safety and security which require us to reflect and feel some of the pains our people are facing,” the governor had said in a broadcast.

But a statement signed on Tuesday by the State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Ahmad Sajoh, announced the freeing of the prisoners, disclosing that the beneficiaries were from five prisons in the state.

“His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Sen. Muhammad Umar Jibrilla Bindow, acting on the advice of the Advisory Committee on Prerogative of Mercy, and in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 212 (I) (d) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, has ordered the release of 33 reformed prisoners in commemoration of the 2018 Democracy Day.

CultureOoni Of Ife Warns Against Nigeria’s Population Growth by 12Ebisco(op): 8:16am On May 29, 2018
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, yesterday cautioned that the Federal Government should control the birth rate in the country or be prepared to face the consequences occasioned by overpopulation.

The traditional ruler said it was unfortunate the rate Nigerians give birth without adequate enlightenment about birth control, adding that the population of children alone in the next few years will hit 80 per cent of the nation’s entire population.

He said such development may spell disaster for the nation.

Ooni Ogunwusi said this at his palace when he played host to children from over 80 public and private schools from across Ile-Ife town in Osun state in commemoration of the Children’s Day

Ooni Ogunwusi said, “I thank God for keeping our children intact in all they have been doing, the truth be told, as a nation we are not mindful of these children enough especially as regards their future, we should be celebrating them every day, not only on a day set aside for them. “he said.

“if you look at the demography of today, 60 per cent of the entire population today is below the age of 30. They are growing very fast, nobody is giving them any sense of belonging or instilling hope in them. Nobody is selling the products Nigeria to them, the only time they sell Nigeria to them is when they are in school.

“We need to be very serious in this country. Over 120 million Nigerians are less than 30 years old – that is saying something to us in this country, it’s about time for our leaders to get serious.

“Nobody is talking about birth control in Nigeria and that is a huge keg of gunpowder which we are all sitting on”.

Speaking further, he said as a viable solution, the Federal Government should create a special budget for manpower developments because according to him there are deeper problems in the nation beyond just claiming to spend money on infrastructure.

“Every weekend, weddings are being celebrated and nobody is celebrating these children, the rate at which we are having these young children is very alarming. My point is, its about time we let them know the country belongs to them. Let them feel the impulse of what Nigeria is all about.”

“It’s about time to create a special budget for manpower developments in this country, we are just talking about spending money on infrastructure and feeding ourselves, we have a deeper problem and that is who is selling the product Nigeria to these children.

“Our leaders should know that we are heading towards a major crisis in this nation if we do not create a special budget for these children. The rate at which we are producing children in this nation is alarming, very soon they will exceed 60 per cent and become 80 percent that is under 30years population and that is about 160 million for children Alone and who is taking care of them and seeing to their wellbeing?”

“It’s about time government does something so these children will not fight back,” the Ooni stressed.
