Celebrities“I Caught My Husband Sucking My Niece’s Chest, Sleeping With Our Maid” by 12Ebisco(op): 9:23pm On Jul 05, 2018
An Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Wednesday dissolved the 10-year marriage between Mrs Florence Anyasi and her husband, Stanley Anyasi over infidelity.

The 36-year-old trader told the court that apart from numerous cases of his following women around, her husband used to sneak into their maid’s room to sleep with her.

“My husband is a womaniser, he used to leave me in the bed at night and sneak into my maid’s room. I have caught him severally on my maid’s bed sexually assaulting her.

“A neighbour approached me and told me to warn my husband to desist from asking her daughter to have love affairs with him.

“I once caught him sucking the breasts of my niece, who is a minor and he is also fond of wooing my friends,” she said,

The petitioner told the court that her husband had once tried to poison her when he brought food to her which subsequently caused her serious pain and vomiting.

“I was rushed to the hospital by neighbours, when I was diagnosed, it was detected that the food I just ate had been poisoned,” she said.

The mother of three said that her husband equally turned her into a punching bag, beating her at the slightest provocation, and has been calling her thief and prostitute in public.

The estranged woman stressed that her husband was irresponsible and unable to provide food or pay for the education of their children.

She urged the court to dissolve her marriage with Stanley.

The respondent, however, denied all the allegations and in turn accused his wife of adultery, claiming that her lover even bought a car for her.

“In January 2017 she came home with a car of N1 million, when I queried her where she got the car from, she claimed she bought it with her money.

“I strongly disagreed with her because she is only selling foodstuffs and can never afford that kind of a car,” he said.

The 40-year-old businessman said that his wife packed out of their matrimonial home in 2017 without his knowledge.

“I came home from work and discovered that my wife had packed all her belonging out with the children to start living with her lover.

“I called her severally, she refused to pick but she eventually picked my call last January and informed me that our last baby she delivered in May 2017 was not mine that the child belonged to the man she is presently living with.

“Before she even gave birth and packed out of my house, I always received information from people that they saw my wife in hotel with men but I always ignored them.”

NAN reports that on the allegation of turning her to a punching bag, Stanley said that he only beat her once when she stabbed him with bottle on his head.

The respondent urged the court to grant his wife’s wish for the dissolution of marriage saying that he too was no longer interested.

Delivering the judgement, the court president, Mr Akin Akinniyi, said that all efforts to reconcile the couple had failed.

“Since both parties consented to the dissolution of their marriage, this court has no choice than to dissolve the marriage.

“The court hereby pronounces the marriage between Mrs Florence Anyasi and Mr Stanley Anyasi dissolved today.

“Both of you henceforth cease to be husband and wife, each of you should go on his or her separate ways unmolested.

“The court wishes both of you well in your new journey of life.

“The court grants the custody of the children, age 10, 8, 6 respectively to their mother, the petitioner, pending when they attain the age of 18 years to decide who to stay with.

“The respondent must be responsible for the children’s school fees, medical bills and must be paying N15,000 monthly for the children’s feeding which must be channeled through the court,” Akinniyi ruled

PoliticsAgain, Senate Moves To Regulate Social Media by 12Ebisco(op): 3:45am On Jul 05, 2018
Following the initial attempts by the Senate to regulate the social media, which was met with a stiff resistance from Nigerians, the Chairman Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, Senator Abdul Fatai Buhari has warned that if the social media is allowed to go unregulated, it could cause doom for the nation, especially now that Nigeria is going into the election year.

Buhari, disclosed this in Abuja at the 2018 Legislative-Stakeholder Conference on Cybersecurity, with the theme; “The Implications of Disruptive Technologies on National Security and Economy,” organised by the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime.

To ensure adequate legislative framework ‎to help Nigeria contend with the challenges of global cybercrime, he said the bill to regulate social media activities had scaled through the first reading at the Senate.

Buhari said the committee had received a lot of petitions from Nigerians, especially those that have fallen victims of false accusation through social media, calling on the National Assembly to regulate it.

According to him, “I remember in the beginning of this administration, when we were trying to bring in‎ law to regulate the social media, I could remember what we saw at that time was not palatable.

“But with this new development that everybody is being attacked particularly on false information. What they do is to look at your face and age, and go to any of the social media platforms and write rubbish against the personalities of credible people and nothing happens.”

The Senator added: “Even in the developed world, they regulate the social media. We need to face the reality that if we allow the law to ‎go lose without regulating the social media, it is going to cause doom, particularly now that the country is approaching its election year.

“If developed country like America is crying that their system was hacked during their election, who are we?”
He said Nigeria has an existing Cybercrime Law that was signed by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, but stressed that the law was inadequate to contend with the current challenges, hence, the amendment in the area of social media to regulate its activities, which has passed its first reading.

“The Bill has passed through the first reading, it has been listed for second reading and it is still open. With this conference we are holding, some of the ideas‎ that will come from it will be inserted into the Bill to make it richer.

“Most of the data systems of our institutions like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Customs, Immigration among others are exposed to attacks. Funny enough, we don’t even have data backup to prevent data loss in the event that anything happens to the data, through cyberattacks.

“So, the Bill will come up again immediately after this conference and we will try to push for a second reading, in preparation for the public hearing,” Buhari said.

The Senator emphasised that preventing cyber attacks requires a lot of money, adding that the British government in their last year’s budget, earmarked £7 million, while America budgeted $1 billion to curtail cyber attacks.

“We have one big challenge in this country today, we don’t take precautions, but we are always looking for solutions to address issues. The truth is that when we are able to take precautions, even if the incident will happen, the impact will be minimal, and control becomes easy,” the Senate Committee Chairman on ICT and Cybercrime said.

PoliticsLeaked Whereabouts Of Nnamdi Kanu Has Vindicated Our Position – IPOB by 12Ebisco(op): 1:07am On Jul 05, 2018
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) says recent intelligence report on the whereabouts of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has vindicated its position that the Nigerian Army abducted him.

In a statement released by its publicity secretary, Emma Powerful, the Nigerian Army should be held responsible if anything happens to Kanu following its invasion of Isiama Afaraukwu in Abia State on September 14, 2017.

The group also stated that the harassment of those who stood surety for their leader is a ploy to make it seem like he jumped bailed.

IPOB, therefore, called on the Federal Government to produce its leader and charge him to court or release him to the British government. Part of the statement stated: “A near derelict naval vessel stationed in the high sea is not a court of law, where guilt and innocence are determined. It remains the exclusive preserve of a court of law.

“The periodic harassment of those who stood surety for Kanu through Justice Binta Nyako’s court, is also a clever ploy to drum the false narrative that our leader jumped bail.”

Politics2019: I’ll Easily Defeat Buhari If Fielded By PDP — Kwankwaso by 12Ebisco(op): 7:00am On Jul 01, 2018
Former Kano governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has said that he as a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, can easily defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

The former governor said this while identifying the PDP as the most potent opposition platform capable of defeating Buhari at the upcoming presidential election scheduled for next February.

Kwankwaso, in an interview with popular columnist, Dele Momodu, said, “I’m a free man now and available to try my luck elsewhere but I know that PDP is the biggest party and as long as they follow democratic principle, Buhari will easily be defeated, but if they handpick and force any candidate on the party, they will fail.

“PDP needs someone from the 3k States: Kano, Katsina and Kaduna to win the next election. That’s where the votes are. It would be difficult to win if they pick someone from any other zone…”

“I can guarantee them that I will beat Buhari if given the chance,” he added.

DSP Andrew Aniamaka, Police spokesman in the state confirmed the incident to DAILY POST, saying: “the armed robbers monitored the victim to the Bank, and unknown to him, they were also within the ATM stand; they shot the man dead, took the N60,000 he had withdrew, and disappeared into an unknown destination”, disclosing however that the police were on the trail of the robbers.

PoliticsPlateau Killings: We Will Not Allow Another Rwanda Genocide – UK House Of Lords by 12Ebisco(op): 10:39am On Jun 30, 2018
The United Kingdom, UK, House of Lords yesterday debated the continuing killing of innocent persons in communities by armed groups in Nigeria.

The debate concerning the killings and destruction of property was raised by Lord Alton of Liverpool who demanded to know Her Majesty’s Government assessment of situation in Nigeria.

Alton warned against genocide in the country, while recalling such concern “raised on 24 March, by the highly respected former Army Chief of Staff and Defence Minister, Lieutenant General Theophilus Y Danjuma, who stated that the armed forces were, ‘not neutral; they collude’ in the, ‘ethnic cleansing in … riverine states’, by Fulani militia.

“He insisted that villagers must defend themselves because, ‘depending on the armed forces’, will result in them dying, ‘one by one. The ethnic cleansing must stop … in all the states of Nigeria; otherwise Somalia will be a child’s play’.”

Lord Alton who raised the long debate added that he would like to hear, therefore, what practical steps the UK Government were taking to work with the Government of Nigeria in developing effective solutions to bring an end to this escalating violence.

“Can the Minister tell us whether there is a strategic plan and what representations have been made directly? I know that finding solutions is complex, but there is nothing to stop the Minister calling on the Government of Nigeria to recalibrate security arrangements and to resource their forces as a matter of urgency, in order to offer sufficient protection to vulnerable communities.

“As I close, I thank the noble Lords who are participating in today’s debate and go back to where I began: to the more than 200 people, mostly women and children, who were killed in sustained attacks on 50 villages by armed Fulani militia just this past weekend. People are dying daily.

“On 18 June, the Archbishop of Abuja referred in the Telegraph to what he described as ‘territorial conquest’ and ‘ethnic cleansing’ and said:
‘The very survival of our nation is at stake’.

“This alone should serve as a wake-up call. Are we to watch one of Africa’s greatest countries go the way of Sudan? Will we be indifferent as radical forces sweep across the Sahel seeking to replace diversity and difference with a monochrome ideology that will be imposed with violence on those who refuse to comply?

“We must not wait for a genocide to happen, as it did in Rwanda. Ominously, history could very easily be repeated.”

Alton statement was backed by the rest of the Lords who took time to narrate the situation in Nigeria and vowed to commence necessary actions to stop what could escalate into Rwanda genocide.

Politics2019: Buhari Has Nothing To Offer – Sule Lamido by 12Ebisco(op): 4:56pm On Jun 29, 2018
Sule Lamido, former Jigawa state governor, has declared that President Muhammadu Buhari has nothing to offer Nigeria.

Lamido made the declaration when he visited the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Secretariat in Abuja, yesterday.

The presidential aspirant informed members of the National Working Committee of the party of his intention to run for Presidency in 2019.

Lamido described himself as the national bridge Nigerians need.

He called on the party to do everything possible to defeat the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2019 elections.

Lamido, while questioning the democratic credentials of Buhari, the 2019 presidential hopeful urged Nigerians to know that, “Buhari has a history of violence.”

He said, “Buhari has nothing to offer Nigerians. Where was Buhari when we formed the PDP in 1998? He was a supporter of General Sani Abacha. Let me say this: Buhari represents violence and do not forget that the character of a leader has a way of affecting the behavior of the people.

“That is why there are lots of killings today in the country. Muslims are killing Muslims and in Ebonyi, some people are fighting against themselves.”

Lamido held that unlike the PDP, the All Progressives Congress (APC) would cease to exist if individuals like Buhari abandoned the party.

“People have left the PDP and we are still here. Take Buhari out of the APC, and the party is dead,” he said.

On his presidential ambition, Lamido said, “I am a national bridge and I have a large heart. I am not an aspirant but the aspirant. We are determined to reclaim Nigeria for Nigerians and if you are on the same page with me; then, we must collectively rescue this nation from the hands of these people.”

PoliticsREVEALED: How Ex-nnpc Boss Became Major Shareholder In Top Ghana Hotel by 12Ebisco(op): 9:51am On Jun 29, 2018
Documents recently obtained by PREMIUM TIMES and its ICIJ partners have revealed how a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Funsho Kupolokun, acquired loads of lucrative shares between 2009 and 2014 to become a major shareholder in one of Ghana’s most expensive and lucrative hotels.

In 2016, details from the leaked Mossac Fonseca’s database, known as #PanamaPapers, revealed that the Septuagenarian, who was an aide to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, was a major shareholder of Gold Coast Resorts International Limited, an entity incorporated in the British Virgins Island in 2006.

Gold Coast Resort International Limited is the owner of the 269-room five-star Kempinski Accra Hotel. Mr Kupolokun, we revealed, had held his holdings in Gold Coast Resort with another company, Blue Chapels Investment Limited, incorporated in Mauritius, a known tax haven.

But new documents recently added to the database have shed additional light on how Mr Kupolokun, who was named director of Gold Coast Resort on August 11, 2008, acquired a collection of shares between 2009 and 2014 to become a major shareholder of the top-notch hotel.

According to the documents, on July 15, 2009, the former NNPC boss shelled out $2 million to acquire 1.8 million shares, with certificate number 3.

On February 7, 2011, Mr Kupolokun topped his holding with the acquisition of 405,000 shares valued at $502,184.70 from Bethana Investment Inc, another shareholder.

Mr Kupolokun then transferred his shares, totaling 2,205,000, to Blue Chapels Investment Limited, his Mauritius-based firm, on February 19, 2013.

Also, on September 18, 2014, Mr Kupolokun bought additional 775,195 shares which cost him $861,328.00. That brought his total share in the hotel to 2,980,195.

Responding to a PREMIUM TIMES enquiry in 2016 when the original revelation was published, Mr Kupolokun confirmed he owned interest in Gold Coast Resorts.

“That was after I left office,” Mr. Kupolokun said. “The first money I invested was two million dollars, and I got that from UBA.”

Gold Coast Resorts is made up of other offshore entities, with its largest shareholder (45 per cent) being Zakham International SA, a shell company registered in another tax haven, Luxembourg.

At least two other shareholders of Gold Coast Resorts – Bethana Investments Inc and Uridor Investments SA- were registered in Panama, another well-known offshore tax haven.

The government of Ghana, through the Ghana Tourist Board, owns 10 per cent of Gold Coast Resorts, which has since obtained a controversial $16 million loan facility from the African Development Bank (ADB), to finance the construction of Kempinski Accra Hotel.

Following the 2016 leak of 11.5 million files from Mossack Fonseca, the Panama-based law firm said it suffered “irreparable damage” and “reputational deterioration” and thus would shut down its offices at the end of March.

“The reputational deterioration, the media campaign, the financial siege and the irregular actions of some Panamanian authorities have caused irreparable damage, whose obligatory consequence is the total cessation of operations to the public,” it said in a statement.

Earlier in November 2017, the firm, in a statement sent to clients, said it had to “significantly reduce” its staff due to changes to the laws and an “adverse business environment.”
Gold Coast Resorts International Limited. [Photo credit: Incentive Travel & Corporate Meetings]

Perhaps in anticipation of the winding down of Mossack Fonseca’s operation or in a move to hide from the exposure of the company’s activities in the wake of the leak, the board of Gold Coast Resorts decided to dump the Panamanian law firm.

In a meeting held on September 27, 2017, Mr Kupolokun alongside, five other members of the company’s board of directors – George Zakhem, Marwan Zakhem, Ian Robertson, Stanislav Kotov, and Albert Zakhem – resolved to change the registered agent of Gold Coast to Quijano & Associates (BVI) Limited in Road Town, Tortola, the capital of the British Virgin Islands.

It also changed its registered address to that of its new agent indicated above.

Foreign AffairsPresident Reveals Those Behind Attempt To Kill Him by 12Ebisco(op): 12:03pm On Jun 28, 2018
Zimbabwe President, Emmerson Mnangagwa has blamed an assassination attempt at a political rally last Saturday on a faction led by Grace Mugabe, wife of ousted president, Robert Mugabe.

Mnangagwa told newsmen on Wednesday that the so-called G40 faction was responsible for the grenade thrown at the podium in the White City stadium in Bulawayo.

The attack killed two people and injured 49. Both vice-presidents were slightly injured in the blast, as were several other top officials in the ruling Zanu-PF party.

Manangagwa said the attack had been “calculated to achieve a bloodbath” and destabilise the ongoing electoral programme.

“My hunch without evidence is that the people who aggrieved by the new dispensation… are the G40 so that is the logical conclusion,” Mnangagwa told the BBC.

“I think this is a political action by some aggrieved persons by the current democratic dispensation in the country.” he added.

The president further said Grace Mugabe was “politically immature and was easily used by a tool who wanted to get at me”.

Many of those who were close to the former first lady have fled Zimbabwe.

Opposition leaders in Zimbabwe fear the bombing may serve as a pretext for a wide-ranging crackdown by the government or the military but Manangwa dismissed such concern.

“There is no need for a security crackdown; this is a criminal activity”, he said.

“But of course we must make sure the population is protected and only when we have got them are we going to be able to assess the extent to which the network is spread.”

PoliticsPlateau Massacre: World Bishops Write Buhari, Says President Has Failed by 12Ebisco(op): 11:15pm On Jun 27, 2018
The Supreme Council of Bishops, also known as World Council of Bishops has reacted to the recent killings in Plateau State and other states in the Middle Belt by Fulani herdsmen.

In a statement forwarded to DAILY POST through the global press release in World Episcopal headquarters in Houston, Texas, United States of America via Africa Episcopal headquarters in Lagos Nigeria, the Bishops said enough was enough to the killings going on in the country.

The statement was endorsed by the Supreme Council of Bishops; the World Council of Bishops; The Global Advisory Board; the Global Council of Apostolic Nuncio (s); and the Prelate and its Deputies across all 7 continents of the world; the Central Executive Council Globally; all Regional and National Prelates Worldwide, and the General Assembly Worldwide.

The Bishops in the strongest possible terms condemned the incessant killings and manslaughter of Nigerians by the Fulani herdsmen who allegedly call themselves Miyetti Allah Group and the like.

They also sent their deepest condolences to all of the affected communities, and demanded that all the perpetrators of the heinous crime be brought to justice, and ensure any further future violence is sternly prevented.

The cleric noted that, “Two years have gone down the drain. We as a Global Council watched, observed, prayed and fasted earnestly, how innocent lives of the good citizens of Nigeria are been attacked, property destroyed, some confiscated, and their lives been wasted in broad daylight manslaughter, as Catholic Priests, Parishioners, Worshipers in Churches, Villages, and Cities around the Middle Belt region, North Central States, and part of the North Eastern States, and across the Nigerian State as a whole were not left out, times without number.

“We expected the Government of Nigeria under the able leadership of President Muhammad Buhari GCFR, as it has promised to defend, secure, and protect the lives of Nigerians as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, Chapter II, Section 14b), to take a decisive – workable solution to permanently curtail the excesses of the Fulanis and their herdsmen from taking laws into their hands, but these killings keeps aggravating.

“We as a Global Council of Bishops Worldwide, lend our Global Bishopric Voice and Global Bishopric Support on All the States in Adamawa, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Taraba, Kaduna, Zamfara States, in the Middle Belt Region, the North Central, North Eastern States, Eastern and Southern regions of Nigeria whose People have been slaughtered and properties destroyed, do hereby unequivocally make Our Global Bishopric Stands known today that, Enough Is Enough – Henceforth This Killings Must Stop!”

Continuing, the Bishops pointed out that a father who fails to perform his primary duty of deciplining his straying children will always regret it at last.

They added, “A father who does not govern his home properly, where he sees and hears his children or wards under his care, are misbehaving outside the home, and several reports are made of their rascally misbehavior, and as a father, shields them, and at times feigns knowledge and never corrects them, by ensuring proper disciplinary actions are meted out on the children, so as to preserve their lives and future, will one day regret the consequences of his lacklustre attitude, not only to the detriment of the family name, but also to the detriment of his children’s future , thereby endangering their future as his progenity, if proper care is not taking or given to their proper training and upbringing as his wards, has indeed failed woefully as a Father.

“Mr. President, we as a Council of Bishops Globally point it out to you on this day openly, without fear or favour that, you as a leader of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has failed , not to deliver on your campaign and constitutional promises, as the number one Chief Security Officer of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to uphold, defend the sovereignty, the territorial integrity, and security of the Nigerian Nation and its Citizens. But what do we see and hear, you only visit each of these troubled States that have been under the attacks of the Fulani herdsmen, without taking a permanent decisive solution to the spate of killings across the Nigerian State in the future, not minding whose ox is gored. The Ball is still in your court either to do as it pleases You, or to act rightly as it is expected of you as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as All Nigerians are closely watching, and judging your actions and misactions in the secrets of their hearts against 2019 elections.

“You are duty bound to ensure the safety of every life and properties of the citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and that one life in this nation Nigeria counts and matters a whole lot. If you decide to go as you will, posterity shall never forgive or forget you. Wisdom demands you take queue and learn from the mistakes of Nigeria’s past leaders and do the right thing that Nigeria as a Nation expects of you.

“Also, a group of persons or collective individuals who, take laws into their hands through maiming, shedding of innocent blood, and destroying the lives and properties of citizens of a Nation like Nigeria, should be counted as a terrorist group.

“To this effect, We employ, the United Nations(UN), Africa Union (AU), European Union (EU), the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS), and the Nigerian State to view and list the Miyetti Allah group via the Fulani Special Force and the Fulani Nationality Movement (FUNAM) as a terrorist organization henceforth, as they have remained unrepentant, and no decisive legal and official governmental action have been taken as a Nation to put to stop their dastardly and heinous acts against humanity and Nigerians as a whole. Justice and Protection of ordinary Nigerians are the inalienable rights of All Nigerians irrespective of religion, social, political class and status, educational attainments, etcetera.

“More also, it is pertinent to not that, with the spate of killings of unarmed innocent Nigerians across the length and breadth of the Nigerian State that, a State Police be enacted and created, and not to be always dependent on Federal might, with a view to, combat , reduce, and defend each of the troubled and 36 States of Nigeria’s Federation that are under constant attacks by the herdsmen militia, and the unrepentant insurgents all over the Nigerian State covering each of the 6 geopolitical zones of Nigeria nationwide.

“ As the Inspector General of Police, nor the Chief of Defence Staff and Army Staffs, cannot achieve the security of lives and properties, and territorial integrity of the Nigerian State, and Nigerians alone, as can be seen how many Soldiers, Police, and security operatives that were previously deployed lost their lives unceremoniously, as they are suffering in some sort, especially those of them in the hard hit insurgent troubled States, they also need our collective, communal support and assistance as well.”

Christianity EtcPlateau Killings: Bishop Oyedepo Spits Fire, Lays Curse On Killers by 12Ebisco(op): 10:17am On Jun 26, 2018
Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church has declared war on those behind the ongoing killings in Plateau State.

The fiery cleric, while speaking during the Covenant Hours of Prayer, monitored by DAILY POST on Tuesday, affirmed that those behind the attacks would be wasted.

He said, “One of the leaders in Plateau State spoke yesterday that since the crisis started, 52 villages were now desolate.

“For everyone behind this crisis, may they and their generations be destroyed. May their generations perish. May they never be remembered.

“Anyone who has made people’s land and families desolate, we declare them desolate today.

“Let the arrow of God locate them. Let it locate their sponsors. Let it locate all the perpetrators. Let it locate anyone backing them in government from today.”

PoliticsSubmit Yourself To EFCC Now – PDP To Adams Oshiomole by 12Ebisco(op): 3:35pm On Jun 25, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is still on the newly elected National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole.

According to the party, Oshiomole needs to submit himself the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over humongous corruption allegations hanging on his neck.

The party said Oshiomhole lacks the right to speak in public as a leader until he clears his name in the corruption allegations on him.

As such, the PDP would be prepared for engagements that have the potency of rescuing our people from the hunger and starvation which the APC has sunk them.

However, the essence of Oshiomhole’s emergence as President Muhammadu Buhari’s sole candidate was not lost on Nigerians as the Presidency imposed him as a pliable instrument to frustrate other would-be presidential aspirants of APC extraction and hand the ticket to President Buhari, who, obviously is afraid to stand a presidential primary due to his failures in office.

With Saturday’s charade, APC and its Federal Government, which claims to have zero tolerance for corruption, have eaten their vomits, confirming that they have been hypocritical and trending on lies, deception and propaganda.

With the outcome of the Saturday’s convention, the APC has kissed internal democracy goodbye in the selection of its candidates at all levels as the national leadership, led by people burdened with corruption allegations, cannot but submit to the whim and caprices of those who granted them official protection from prosecution.

President Buhari and his handlers should however note that manipulating the APC convention and seizing the party’s Presidential ticket cannot help them as Nigerians, are now fully rallying on the platform of the repositioned PDP in their quest for a new President, who truly has the competence to effectively run a united, secure and prosperous nation, come 2019.

PoliticsAPC National Convention: Full Text Of Buhari’s Speech by 12Ebisco(op): 9:26pm On Jun 23, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday addressed delegates at the All Progressives Congress, APC, National convention in Abuja.

Buhari appealed to aggrieved members nationwide to keep faith with the party.

The President, however, told the 6,800 delegates from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), that crisis in some chapters was a price the party was paying for its electoral victory in 2015.

Read Buhari’s full statement below:

”It is my pleasure to address you today, on the occasion of our great party’s 2nd National Convention and the first since we rode on its glorious platform to a victorious political outing in 2015. Congratulations again to all who worked or contributed to our success.

”I want to begin by acknowledging your presence and congratulating all our delegates who have emerged from the wards, local Governments and State congresses from the 36 States of the Federation and the FCT gathered here today as the party’s highest ranking constitutional organ, to elect and usher in a new leadership for the party at the national level.

”I am also using this opportunity to thank the outgoing National Executives of the party, especially those who will not be offering themselves for re-election at today’s convention for their tireless efforts in securing victory for the party at the last elections and managing the success thereafter.

”I want to assure everyone here that despite a few lingering issues with the congresses in some states, our great party will emerge stronger after this convention. The unresolved cases we have is the price we have to pay for success, as everyone wants to be associated with a winning team. I am imploring all those with grievances to keep faith with the party until we put things right.

”I have been following the preparations leading to this event and I must commend this Convention Committee under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Badaru Abubakar for providing a level playing field and instilling confidence in both aspirants and delegates with their thorough approach and adherence to transparency.

”I commend all the delegates from across the country for your sacrifice and patience, travelling all the way from your different destinations and waiting in inclement weather, as it has been raining all the day. Thank you for your commitment.

”The adoption of consensus as a first option is commendable and the process has led to a lot of healing and cohesion across the states and the zones, and where elections are inevitable, I have been assured that the process adopted will result in clear and undisputed results. Again I am appealing to all contestants to keep faith with the party.

”May I, therefore, appeal to all to put our great party ahead of personal considerations and to accept the outcome of the exercise in good faith. You are all important to our party’s progress and all must come together to ensure success in the forthcoming polls so as to enable us to continue the good work we have been doing for our fellow Nigerians.

”I thank you all for being here and congratulate the new National Executive to be elected shortly.

”God bless Federal Republic of Nigeria, God bless our Party.

CelebritiesEnd SARS: Mo Cheddah Is A Child – Ruggedman by 12Ebisco(op): 10:48am On Jun 23, 2018
Popular rapper, Ruggedmanwho, who has been at the forefront championing the end SARS campaign has finally spoken on his alleged beef with colleague, Mo Cheddah.

Mo Cheddah has sometime ago on Instagram sparked reactions after she responded to Ruggedman’s call for the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police.

She urged the rapper to stop forcing his SARS belief and cause on other entertainers.

However, Ruggedman in reaction, while speaking with Punch, said he was shocked by her reaction.

He stated that he did not expect such reply from a well meaning Nigerian despite complaints against SARS officials.

Ruggedman said, “I really would not want to take issues with anyone at this time because I am currently putting finishing touches to my Ruggedman’s Twentieth September Wears clothing line as I am set to unveil its first hoodie and new t-shirt designs.

“However, Mo Cheddah and I do not have a beef; why would I have a beef with a child? The first and only time I ever saw her was when she ran to my car somewhere in Maryland to tell me that she loves my songs and she is my fan. That was the first and only time I met her. I cannot have any issues with her. If I have issues with anyone who is fighting a good cause, I would not use that cause to display any negative thing.

“What she did is just unfortunate but she was really tongue-lashed by Nigerians and celebrities. I was very happy that celebrities also condemned what she said. She was very wrong. But like I told someone, her comment helped us to propagate the word the more.

“That is what I picked from the whole encounter and not what she said because that does not really matter to me.

“When I saw Mo Cheddah’s reply to my call on SARS, the first thing that came to my mind was, ‘what is she on?’ Any well-meaning Nigerian would understand what I am saying.

“She said something like ‘I am trying to force my belief on people,’ what does she mean by my belief? I am not talking about religion, instead I am speaking for the innocent people that are being brutalised and not Ruggedman being brutalised.

“She also said something about me not forcing people to fight my cause. How is it my cause when it is other people that are being brutalised? I am actually fighting other people’s cause. The bottom line is that if she really did not have anything to say, she should have kept quiet, sadly for her, she was tongue-lashed by Nigerians and that is why I did not say anything about her comment.

“Till now, I still don’t understand why she would make such a statement but I am not bothered because what I am fighting for is bigger than anybody’s comment. I am sure that when she saw the response from Nigerians, she knew that she had messed up but ego would not let her delete the comment. It is just like the video she later did where she was insulting people. Although she later deleted it, unfortunately, it was too late for her because the bloggers had picked it up.”

PoliticsMarafa Commends Presidency’s Comment On Zamfara Killings by 12Ebisco(op): 5:27am On Jun 23, 2018
Chairman Senate Committees on Petroleum Resources, Senator Kabir Garba Marafa, yesterday commended the Presidency over what he called its frank comment on insecurity in Zamfara State.

The Federal Government had through the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja during a panel session at the opening of the 67th International Press Institute Congress on Thursday blamed the festering banditry in the state on lack of vigilance by the state.

Marafa in a statement said his numerous calls on the Governor, Abdul Aziz Yari, at different fora including on the floor of he Senate fell on deaf ears.

The Senator who represents Zamfara Central Senatorial District in the Senate said rather than the Governor to make use of his advice, he tagged him as his enemy.

“Zamfara state is our only state we must therefore put all hands on deck to make it work”. Like the Federal Government, I have faulted the Governor’s halfhearted approach to the problem of banditry that had grounded almost all activities in the state,” he said.

He said the first step to end the banditry was for the Governor to show courage by bringing those around him that are accused of having a hand in the “business” to book

While the second and most important one is taking his job serious by stopping without further delay all his regular trips to Abuja and outside the country and concentrate on providing the much-needed leadership in the state.

The senator counseled the Governor to stop blaming Buhari for his failures. “He should discard the secondary responsibility of Governors forum chair and concentrate on his primary responsibility of providing security of lives and property of the people of the state”.

“If he remains an absentee Governor, there is no how he can tackle the menace of banditry in the state. It is only when he is on ground that other things can take shape for the good of the state,” he said.

Dambazau had said that “Good governance is the final solution to the security challenges in Zamfara, it is not the number of soldiers.

PoliticsLai Mohammed Reveals Cause Of Incessant Herdsmen, Farmers Clash by 12Ebisco(op): 7:50am On Jun 22, 2018
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has blamed the incessant herdsmen/farmers conflict on the scarcity of resources for grazing.

He stated this during the 2018 World Congress of the International Press Institute (IPI) in Abuja, the nation’s capital on Thursday.

He said, “The herdsmen clash with farmers is an issue of resources getting more and more scarce. There is less water, there is less grass. The farmers would not have the kind of land they used to have before so they have to adopt the best practices in Agriculture and modern technology.

“On the part of the herders, they must also adopt modern technology such as ranching. These issues are also cultural, as the economic and cultural. You need to persuade the average herdsmen to go to a ranch.

“For a simple reason, in his (a herdsman) own words, ‘it is not so much about how fat your cow is but how many they are’. A man with 100 herds of cattle is superior in his own mind with a person with 50.

“But it has been proven that a cow on a ranch produces about 10 litres of milk a day while migrating cattle produces about a litre a day.”

PoliticsSouthern, Midde-belt Leaders Kick Against Fg’s Decision To Spend N179bn On Ranch by 12Ebisco(op): 8:28am On Jun 21, 2018
The Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum, Wednesday, rejected the Federal Government’s decision to spend N179bn to build ranches, describing it as a vexatious declaration.

In a statement jointly signed by Messrs. Yinka Odumakin (South West), Senator Bassey Henshaw (South South), Prof Chigozie Ogbu (South East) and Dr Isuwa Dogo (Middle Belt), the forum, however, commended the decision of the government to embrace ranching for cattle rearers against the erstwhile insistence on archaic open grazing and old century cattle routes, but kicked against using the public fund to set them up.

The statement reads: “The decision to ignore this sensible recommendation has led to a situation where untold terror has been unleashed on farming communities with needless loss of hundreds of lives in the last 3 years with not a soul under prosecution and top functionaries of the administration making excuses for the killers.

“We, however, object to the Federal Government’s decision to spend N179bn of public funds to build these ranches over 10 years starting with N70bn under this administration.

“Cattle-rearing is a private business in which individuals make billions of Naira with no record of what they pay as taxes.

“And it is unfortunate that the Federal Government was making this vexatious declaration while receiving the Chief Executive Officer of Friesland Campina of Netherlands without bothering to find out that it was put together by Cooperatives with roots going back to 1879 and is one of the World’s top five dairy companies with annual revenue of 11 billion.

“It is only reasonable that those who want to engage in the business should approach the states where they want to build ranches and acquire land to build such with firm commitment to abide by the rules of host communities.

“Rewarding the herders with public funds to build ranches would only mean that they have killed enough to beat the country into pacification mode. And this can only encourage other people to arm themselves, cause sufficient killings to get an undue concession.

“What would our society become if fishermen, farmers, and people in other trades begin to cause bloodbath so the Federal Government could give them special consideration?

“We call on the Federal Government to shelve the idea of committing public funds on ranches and allow the owners of the business to attend to their business needs.

“To go ahead with the plan is to say that cattle owners own this Government and that would make other segments of society to say “we have no inheritance in this arrangement.”

Politics2019: Atiku Explains Why He Didn’t Perform Under Obasanjo, Speaks On Looting Pub by 12Ebisco(op): 7:30pm On Jun 19, 2018
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has explained why he performed below expectation the last time he was in government as a Vice President.

Atiku also said that anyone with evidence that he stole or built his investment on public funds should come forth with such.

The former Vice President said that Nigerian constitution did not give him the powers to execute projects, adding that he lacked the powers to execute official projects of his own initiative while in office.

He said he had limited capacity to deliver even on some lofty projects designed for his own state in Adamawa while he served with President Obasanjo.

Atiku said this on Tuesday while speaking to journalists on arrival at the Port Harcourt International Airport in continuation of his consultations to Bayelsa and Rivers States for his 2019 presidential bid.

Atiku, who is a PDP presidential hopeful, pointed out that the administration he served in as Vice President awarded contracts for the Mayo Belwa-Jada-Ganye-Tongo and Yola-Mubi-Maiduguri roads in Adamawa State in its first term.

He said that there was supposed to be a spur of the road linking Mambilla in Taraba State and thereby making it the shortest cut to Mambilla but execution of these projects were delayed and later truncated on the altar of politics.

Atiku said allegations that funds meant for road projects in the state were diverted to build the American University of Nigeria in Yola was being unfair to him, and that “it shows lack of understanding of how government runs on the part of the people making such allegations. Government does not run on such pedestrian level, it is a process.”

He maintained that all the money used for setting up the first development university in Africa came from private sources.

“To set the records straight, no public funds were involved in all my investments in several sectors that have continued to provide jobs and enhance educational and socio-economic well-being of Nigerians. I have always been contented with what God has given to me in all its ramifications and I thank Him for using me to better the lot of the people.

“Without being immodest, I was a successful businessman before going into politics and subsequently becoming the Vice President by Allah’s Grace. I was not desperate to be in government in order to make money but to serve the people in my own little way and contribute my quota to its overall development.”

Atiku asserted that he was the most investigated Vice President in Nigeria, and challenged “anybody with evidence linking public funds to the AUN or any of his private investment should come forward to prove that.”

Atiku lamented that some people do not appreciate individuals who create wealth by their personal initiative and resourcefulness but rather hold contrary views with the stigma of such possessing ill-gotten wealth.

He said that it was wrong to assume that one can’t succeed without stealing public funds, noting that it is well documented that he (Atiku) had made a success of his businesses before he was tapped as Vice President.

“If money was my motivation for seeking elective office, I would not have joined the presidential race at any point in time in my political career. My ability to make money through my businesses was established long before I was chosen as Vice President,” he said.

He stressed that passion for service, and the desire to bring efficiency in the management of government affairs are the main reasons he wants to run for President.

CelebritiesJustin Beiber And Hailey Baldwin Pack Up The PDA by 12Ebisco(op): 9:31pm On Jun 18, 2018
Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin are clearly not afraid to show off their blossoming romance. After being pictured together last week frolicking around Brooklyn ,the pair were again spotted in New York as they handed out some more PDAs.

This rekindling of their romance follows their initial relationship in 2016 – but the pair later split as they ‘went through a long period of time when [they] weren’t friends’.

‘Justin and I were friends for a long time,’ Hailey told The Times last month. ‘I met him when I was really young and he was one of my best friends. Everybody knows that at a certain point in time that turned into something else, but that just happens when you’re 18, 19. It was what it was

A source close to Bieber, meanwhile, told PEOPLE last week that the singer was unattached.

‘He is single and not dating anyone seriously. He is doing very well,’ the source claimed. ‘He has known Hailey for years—she is very involved in Justin’s church. He likes hanging out with her. She is a wonderful person. ‘They have fun together, but they are not in a relationship. They are two single people that enjoy each other’s company.’

CrimeWe’re Surprised Our Victim Died, Say One-chance Robbers by 12Ebisco(op): 7:55am On Jun 18, 2018
Police operatives attached to the Federal Capital Territory Command Special Anti-Kidnaping Squad have arrested five members of an armed robbery gang that robbed unsuspecting passengers in their taxi.

The suspects, Ebuka Ezeanyido, 28; Chidebe Okocha, 36; Chukwuma Amichie, 30; Augustine Agbo, 32; and Chinedu Obi, 25, were arrested following investigation into the disappearance of one Michael Ibebuogu who was reported missing by members of his family.

According to PUNCH, Ibebuogu was said to have left his brother’s house at Apo, Abuja for Suleja, Niger State on May 27, 2018 but never arrived at his destination.

The missing man’s phone was however traced to one of the suspects who led detectives to arrest his accomplices.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Sadiq Bello, who paraded the suspects in Abuja on Thursday, explained that Okocha confessed that he hit Ibebuogu on his head with a hammer when he tried to take control of their operational car from the driver.

“The suspects said they abandoned his body under Apo Bridge. Efforts are ongoing to recover the remains of the deceased. The operational car used by the gang, an army green Volkswagen Passat Wagon, one hammer and phone of the deceased have been recovered as exhibits,” Bello stated.

Ezeanyido, who said he was a taxi driver before he joined the robbery gang said

, “I and my friend, Okocha came to Abuja, so we picked the man in our cab. When the man noticed that we wanted to rob him, he started dragging the steering with the driver; so this brother (Agbo) hit him on the shoulder with a hammer and we stopped the cab and allowed him to go, but he was not dead when we left him.”

Okocha claimed he was doing business at Wuse market, Abuja but decided to join the robbery gang after he had issues with some people.

Narrating how the gang operated, he said that they usually robbed one person at a time in their taxi.

He said,

“We usually pick a passenger and while driving, the driver would ask him to put on his seatbelt while magic finger (Agbo) would cleverly snatch the victim’s money or phone.
