the bullets from the policemen's AK47 guns and that of the M4s and M16s the SSS were shooting was not penetrating the Ombatse guys. It was said that they were spitting the bullets out of their mouths

Enough of this nonsense. People have been trying to justify this shocking act of violence against the police. Even if 1000 men were sent to arrest a toddler, does that mean they deserve to be killed? It is rather shocking that the Ombatse have been jumping around giving interviews while no arrest has been made (at least to my knowledge). It is a real shame that Nigerians pitch tents against humanity when they wish.

How does "asking relevant questions" tantamount to the thrash you wrote up there?

The real "shame and nonsense" is when things like this happen and we all keep quiet, refrain from asking pertinent questions ...only for such event to repeat themselves.... while we all shout "crocodile sympathies & RIP's"!

Solve the riddle and prevent a recurrence, that is the only good thing you can do for these dead officers!

Abeegi, or are you the state Commissioner of Police, in question?

As much as I don't like to engage in a war of words with your type, it will be a disservice to objectivity and justice if I didn't comment. I don't know how true your assertion that Gov. Al Makura recruited Fulanis from Chad and Niger to invade Eggon Communities is. I do know when Fulanis have ever discriminated when attacking communities in Nassarawa State. They rob on a daily basis along Lafia-Obi Road, and just recently, a woman was murdered by Fulanis when they robbed a vehicle on that road. In 2008, Corp Member serving in GSS, Adudu was beaten to coma along the same road by Fulani armed robbers. They attack farmers from time to time in Nassarawa state. Alago, Tivs, Migili, Gwandaras and Eggons have always been the butt of these people's gruesome attack.

In recent year, it's on record that the Eggon people have become more militant- On June 2nd, 2012, Assakyo Village was attacked by Eggon militia, Assakyo is an Alago settlement in Lafia East Development Area. Unfortunately for the villager, they were nested in the middle of Eggon village, such that all roads were cordoned off. The town was burnt to ashes and 17 people lost their lives. The people of the town had to move to Lafia en-mass. That Town is yet to be rebuilt. In 2007, there was a clash between the Alagos and Eggons in Assakio. Not long after this, the same group also attacked Agyaragu town inhabited by the Koro (Migili) ethnic group, killing so many people and burning down all structures belonging to the elites of this ethnic group, including the palace of their paramount ruler, a second class chief. This same group also engaged the Fulanis, killing most of them and their cattle – the reprisal attacks from the Fulanis are now history.

They also attacked Kwandare, the home town of the governor, killing and razing houses. Other places affected by the activities of Ombatse group are Rutu, Burum-burum in Doma Local Government, where the village head lost his life in the process, and Kokona Local Government. From April 30, 2012 to May 1, 2012, this group invaded Assakio, a town established by the Alago ethnic group which is part of Lafia Local Government. During that invasion, more than 40 people were reported to have lost their lives, while properties, both residential and business interests, worth millions of naira, went up in flames.

The Eggons have several grievances in Nassarawa State, they are the majority in Nassarawa State, though they have just two local governments; Akwanga Local Government and Nassarawa Eggon Local Government. According to unconfirmed rumour, they wanted more local governments as Alago people who are not as many as them have 3 local governments; Doma, Obi and Keana Local Governments.

Secondly, The Eggons are yet to produce a governor in Nassarawa state since the beginning of the 4th republic; Abdullahi Adamu, the governor of Nassarawa between 1999-2007 is an Ankwei man from Keffi, Aliyu akwe Doma is an Alago man from Doma while Al Makura is Gwandara man from Kwandere.

There are so many things wrong with Nassarawa State, however wanting to pin all the blame on Al Makura is not justifiable.

So, its a case of long-term marginalization which in turn, breeds cultism/self defence?
But let us focus on this last issue: The death of over a hundred "serving men"! angry angry
What and who initiated the plan to go into that forest with truckloads of armed Policemen?

Jamisco:

WHAT TRANSPIRED WAS THAT MOST OF THE SO CALLED POLICEMEN WERE NOT POLICE, THEY WERE HIRED KILLERS BY ;;;;;;;. THERE WERE ONLY 35 POLICEMEN THAT WERE KILLED, THE REMAINING WERE FULANI AND CO THAT WERE HIRED TO GO AND DESTROY THE VILLAGE AND THE VILLAGERS. YOU MAY UNDERSTAND THAT THE POLICE NEVER EVEN LIST THE NAMES OF THOSE THAT DIED AND THE FIGURES THEY GAVE IS CONFLICTING FIGURES, SOME SAY 31, OTHERS 35, OTHERS 91 WHILE SOME 100 PLUS. BUT LOOK AT THE FIGURES FROM THE SSS, THEY SAID 10 OFFICERS THEY EVEN PUBLICIZE THEIR NAMES IN NEWSPAPERS AND TVS, THAT WHAT THE POLICE WOULD HAVE DONE IF THEY WERE REALLY SAYING THE TRUTH.

THE TRUTH AS STATED ABOVE, YOU BELIEVE IT OR NOT, LESS JUST PRAY FOR NIGERIA

Good question. why the secrecy and cover-up by the Police? Whose idea was it to go into that bush, that day? Just to arrest one single old man? C'mmon, we are not stupid!

Why should the serving commissioner of Police who ordered this invasion, suddenly RETIRE, when he was supposed to be answering all these questions?

docadams:
Well! Well! Well! As weird as your explanation sounds, it is the only one that made some sense so far. Otherwise, like u rightly said, the police authority should have published the names of the officers they lost.

See, the more questions we ask, the more we shed light on this matter.
That is what we owe the dead officers, ....even if we dont like them!

May their souls rest in peace and may the bereaved find consolation in God, I also pray that those responsible for this act be brought to justice.
We should learn to value the sanctity of life - whatever you can not create, you should not destroy or aid its destruction.
