It was never going to work and Amaechi knew it. It would have been easier to manage wike from Ph than from Abuja but Amaechi was listening to sycophants who wanted to occupy the space Wike was vacating. Wike is a grassroots mobilizer and buldozer (you know what that means in lay terms). He would never want to be side lined from the sharing that goes on at home,no matter the sweet honey in UBE projects.
Everyone thought it was going to work keeping Wike at Abuja that was why for the first time Rivers people never protested that governor and minister from same tribe. Wike was instrumental to Amaechi victory but was also a burden to him. He ensures that the governor sign cheques, etc even if He met him on the road- no protocols at all. Wike is a grass root mobilizer and evil at heart but Amaechi attitude contributed to all this wahala. With less talk and more good projects every rivers man would have willingly stood to fight for him .
Meanwhile, the anti- Amaechi group are already drinking and jubilating at todays drama as I write.

Amechi should go and sit for gutter. Our people has an adage that says, "When the little bird had her fill, she now thinks it's time to challenge her maker". Amechi is more arrogant than GEJ. Let the fight continue.

slimming: It is unlawful for the Governor to do that.

And which one is lawful? The leader of pro-GEJ group slapping the speaker or the president's wife moving round in River state in broad-day light causing problem or the President himself supporting Jang the loser of NGF election against the winner? I feel, the word "lawfulness" is alien to the whole brouhaha.

guy, bone that matter. how would every rivers man stand to fight for him? all that is needed is the support of abuja and enough money to buy over yourreps in the house. that is naija politics for you. i still think Amaechi should have found a middle ground of managing Wike. He is one of those guys you don't want against you and at the same time you need to keep at arm's length. Na sharing formula cause all these things.
After all BRF has managed to keep his Oga happy while carrying out his transformation agenda in Eko.
Amaechi needs to tone down his arrogance. It just did him harm and listen less to sycophants who can not bite as hard as Wike couldand still can.
Na Rivers people i just dey pity cos they are aboutto board a 'one chance' bus driven by Wike.

Besides Amaechi is not even loved by his people, thats why he is finding it difficult to get the support of Rivers people. He should really tone down on his arrogance, pride, talkativeness and dictatorial tendencies.

The Rivers State House of Assembly complex today broke into chaos and staff fled as members fought and exchanged blows as a group of law makers impeached the speaker Rt.Hon. Otelemaba Dan Amachree and installed Hon. Evans Bipi representing Ogu/Bolo constituency as speaker. A group is also thought to have attempted to collect the mace of the assembly while some staff who fled told reporters that Governor Ameachi himself stormed the chambers and took away the mace. Some of the Governor’s cars were destroyed and there were injuries .
However,in an attempt to put a lid on the situation, Leader of the house, chidi Lloyd called reporters to say that their was no impeachment but could not explain the heavy security and the broken stones and bottles littering the complex.
An eye witness who called reporters365.com had this to say:
“It was a free-for-all fight at the assembly today
Members started walking in to the chambers at 9 am this morning with the
Speaker walking in at about 9:50am to commence sitting
“WEY VOKOR”! were the speaker’s first words calling Hon Victor Ihunwo by his alais.
“Oga leave me abeg” Hon Victor replied”
“So Vokor even you!” the Speaker asked Hon. Victor.
At that point Hon.M.O Chinda walked in..
“THE CHF JUDGE” House majority leader hailed him.
I will not give or take any hand shake” M.O Chinda responded.
The speaker teased him and said ” are we not brothers again?
“WE ARE NOT BROTHERS, Hon. M.O chinda retorted.
since YOU PEOPLe DECIDEd TO TAKE FOOD OUT OF MY EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN
The war of words continued until Hon Evans came in.
Immediately he came in, Hon. Chidi Lloyd shouted OPU-OWU be[meaning big masquerade in Okrika language]
At this point the connection to the public address system in the chambers was cut.
At this point the Speaker told Evans “Alabo me Bleep-up me” [a vulgar speech meaning chief you messed up in okrika language]
The house leader also said the same thing to Hon. Evans which made him angry. He told the house leader Hon. Chidi Lloyd”If i take insults from Mr.speaker ,I wont take it from you Chidi”
Hon Chidi repeated the same vulgar statement moving menacingly towards Hon. Evans at which point Hon. Evans took the camera tripod on the floor of the house and flogged the hell out of Hon. Chidi
Hon. Azubike left his seat and grabbed Hon. Evans .Both started fighting
When Hon. Evans over powered both men, the house leader picked the mace and broke Hon. Chinda’s head with it.Hon. Chinda is a supporter of Hon. Evans.
A call was put through to the Governor by one of the pro-Amaechi Governors to the effect that the war was being lost to Evans and his group. He arrived shortly. The Governor met a free -for- all fight in which his followers were badly bruised and he
took the Speaker, Azubike, Leader and the Clerk of the house away
20 mins later Hon Evans and some members of the House appointed Hon. Victor Ihunwo as speaker pro tempore and impeached the speaker and left.
An hour later the Deputy Governor of the state Tele Ikuru led the speaker and 10 members into the chambers from Government house . They sat and quickly adjourned.”
We will bring you more details as they unfold.

Whatever be the case, whether Chidi Lloyd was slapped or not, Amaechi has no business in the assembly chambers. The legislature is an independent and separate arm of the govt and should be allowed to conduct its business the way it deems fit. If even as we know he has interest in the proceedings on the floor of the house, getting physically and directly involved is wrong, he should play his politics from outside, kind of ‘neutral‘ you know.

Anyway that move shows how afraid and jittery he‘s. This impeachment move will not end as long as he has got directly involved.

Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State today personally foiled an attempt to impeach the Speaker of the state House of Assembly.

The speaker, Otelemaba Amachree, had convened a session of the legislature in order to amend certain portions of the Rivers State budget. The session followed a prolonged crisis in the state caused by schemes by President Goodluck Jonathan to impeach Mr. Amaechi, who is deemed an impediment to the president’s ambition to seek a second term.

Two lawmakers loyal to Mr. Amachree told Saharareporters that speaker sensed there was trouble in the air after he sent letters summoning members to today’s session. “The speaker now sent a message to the state commissioner of police and the brigade commander and leader of the Joint Task Force to ask for security to enable the house [to] sit,” said one of the lawmakers.

The other legislative source added that, unknown to the speaker, five renegade members of the assembly loyal to President Jonathan had met with the commissioner of police overnight and arranged to come prepared to impeach the speaker. “When we arrived at the state assembly today, we were surprised to see a huge number of military men and well armed policemen,” said the source.

SaharaReporters learnt that trouble soon started as a member of the house, Evans Bapakaye Bipi, representing Ogu/Bolo constituency arrived with thugs, pounced on the house leaders, Michael Chinda and Chidi Lloyd, while the police and the military kept their distance.

Our sources said when Governor Amaechi heard of the fracas and the refusal of the police and members of the JTF to intervene, he rushed to the house with his aides and armed escorts and succeeded in rescuing members of the house loyal to him.

As the governor and the majority of the legislators were leaving the site of the mayhem, they discovered that five renegade members of the house empowered by President Jonathan had seized the mace. They then ran back to retrieve the mace from the minority group, our sources said

it is one fight on different fronts.
The way it is now, i doubt he cares if he loses the fights. He comes across as a guy who really does not care for the outcome as long as he manages to bloody the noses of his adversaries and causes as much damage as possible.

Just as the inconsequential assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife triggered World War 1, the crises in Rivers insignificant as it may seem when you contextualize it in the wider politics of Nigeria, may turn out to be consummate the whole of this country. The do or die attitude of the presidency is becoming alarming. The NGF crises they orchestrated hasn't been quenched and yet they are igniting another fire in Rivers.

1. If you light a fire in a forest you never know where, when or how it will end and when you live in glass house they say don't throw stones.

2. When you want to dig the hole of wickedness make it shallow cos you never know who will end up falling into it.

Another person involved in the drama told me that the Rivers state crisis is like a book. that the events unfolding are just chapters that have long being written. That each chapter is carefully opened and played out meticulously. He claimed the book was written by Wike hence,it has only one ending.
