In all these, my fear is that I do not see the change agents in the Nyesom Wike camp. The resurrection of the Restoration Team, the same folks who under Dr. Peter Odili recklessly plunged the state into a steady decline on all fronts, portends nothing better than danger for the state. This is the part that myopic folks are not seeing. For all the wrong you can attribute to Amaechi, with Wike and his band of clowns, i see Rivers people entering a 'One chance' bus. They will be begging to be dropped at unknown locations while also being uncertain of the final destination. The options are too scary to contemplate. |

frederal: Very balanced story, I like the in-depthness of ur story too. I see the traits you emphasized in Amaechi too.Indeed, this is a very objective evaluation of the crises crumbling Rivers State. I respect your opinion. Great Compatriot. |

The shameful incident at Rivers state House of Assembly is an ignominious and reprehensible indictment on the electoral process that begot those legislators and also shows the calibre of men(boys) that the governor and his former chief of staff - Nyesom Wike imposed on the people of Rivers state. These two political gladiators handpicked these members when the going was good. Most of them (except the very few well bred likes of Josiah Olu) are inveterate thugs and intellectual invertebrates, lacking in core and substance. May God bless this man. I have said it repeatedly, there is something fundamentally wrong with an polity that throws up retired and practising thugs as political and elected leaders. Something is fundamentally wrong. We do not need saints but we surely must do better than these thugs that habit our legislative chambers and executive mansions. If you go to the NASS,the case is not much different. Either the females are women of exceeding lose morals (in a society or world with acceptably low morals) or the men are convicted felons. Either they have never had any identifiable means of livelihood apart from feeding at the trough of our collective destiny or tales of ritualistic wealth have trailed their lives. Are these the band of robbers and barbarians that will deliver development and progress to a nation? 1 Like |

stantob: G.E.J will do absolutely nothing to Amaechi.Ask O.B.J about his fight with Orji Kalu.P.D.P is about to loose one state and that is Rivers state.Amaechi has nothing to loose. His tenure ends by 2015 and it will be a very serious presidential fight in 2015.Amaechi will end up delivering P.D.P to another party and some other states will follow suit.Amaechi has their secrets in his fingers nails, what will G.E.J do?Let him just cough openly and you see what next. Orji Uzor was smarter, he waited for the dying minute and dealt the president a deadly blow. Moreover, i doubt if Abia state had powerful overlords the president would have used to fight OUK. In my opinion, amaechi goofed, he lacked patience and diplomacy, unlike OUK who wasnt fighting with every arm of govt in abia state. Infact, OUK was in charge from grassroot to external influences. So pal, the circumstances are incomparable! |

Nice analysis I must say but there is a question I have. If Nyesom WIKE and his camp are backed by G, who are those behind Amaechi and what do they stand to gain by supporting his disobedience of the party's order and blatant defiance of the president? If Rotimi will listen, let him hear what Afenifere sayeth to him because he suqely can never win. Sorry prodigal son. |

It is hard to look past the docility of the uncompromised citizen. The answer is in what we haven't done...it is in what we have allowed ''retired and practicing thugs'' to get away with, until we realize and come to that conclusion that these people won't willingly change for our common good; that we will need to fight and where possible pay the ultimate sacrifice then and only then will these vile lot be consigned to the dustbin of history. |

I would not know where this may lead, seeing how every camp keeps defending their own by their believes and sentiments. but all I know is that the perpetrators will be known lately. Nija politics! Full of surprises and absurd events. Friends today, enemies tomorrow and the players always using the masses as their pawn in the chessboard. |

As they say third time's a charm. Who knows Amaechi might be the bone that chokes Jonathan to death. Longeria: It's unfortunate that Amaechi "smartly" dive into big sea without any survival skill. Dancing azonto on top of floater on middle of ocean, being cheered by the Northern and Acn cheer Leaders and followers. In this matter, there is two major causes, opposition's over rating of Amaechi and under rating of Jonathan, forgetting that empty can make the most noise while PYTHON flourish through quietness. AMAECHI, don't be the stubborn fly that get buried with the dead. Who remembers Ibori and Sylva again. AMAECHI, think again. |

If you want to hide something from a African/Nigerian, put it in a book.... - to those people that didn't read because its 'too long' #AfricanMentality. I'm sure they would have preferred an article that says 'GEJ is stupid/Dull', ACN are progressive/Angels. We need more articles like these that will make us (we way no dey Rivers state) look at the situation from both(different) angles. SMH |

@ OP. Thank you for the insights. With the avalanche of near abandoned projects dotting all nooks. Rivers people on the streets have had to come to terms with the belief that Gov. Amaechi had only resorted to blackmail & not shown genuine redemption for his role in the Odili era. This accounts for why they have not hidden their indifference at the goings~on in the state as the same relates to him. Gov. Amaechi like Odili simply fritted away the goodwill extended to him by the people of the state. |

hmmmn, the analysis put to bear many of my thought process about Amaechi and rivers state debacle. It is a great analysis, my real fear was penned in the last paragraph, the anti amaechi folks who now control the states pdp apparatus do not really care about the development of the state or betterstill can not offer anything near the slightly above average developmental strides of Amaechi, should full power return to their hands. |
