kettykin: Whom ever the gods want to kill they first make mad
Anybody reading this should mark it somewhere the tide will definitely change after 2015 elections , I urge all concerned to exercise restraint and maximum decorum, after 2015 elections which will be won by Jonathan the tide would change and some people's cries would change from been marginalized to being relegated an pushed out of the country,by 2015 the deep sea port in ibaka would have been completed , the concessioning of onitsha port would have been done, tjust like the LNG the oil companies headquartered in lagos would have by Niger delta bills and pib bills compelled to either leave nigeria or move to where they extraction of oil is done. The biggest banks in nigeria zenith, UBA, ECO ACCESS banks would have as a matter of necessity relocated to emerging economies in Niger delta. Newer telecommunications companies and optic trans Atlantic cable companies would definitely move to better economic climes .

I am still wondering how on earth the lagos government would prefer to deport struggling poor fellows in the name of eradicating street beggars and leave real societal miscreants , area boys , street urchins , extortionists and the cult people terrorising ajah , mushin and surulere.
The madness which started in the north some few years in the form of riots , sharia killings back fired and metamorphosed into boko haram which the north us paying dearly for today. The madness of lagos government will definitely grow and metamorphose into a monster that would hunt the South west

It wiill happen over nite abi

IGBO-SON:

^^^Zip it mate! Care to explain how one man (at the time, a Nigerian subject of the Queen like everyone else) could force Yorubas......drag them kicking and screaming by the scruff of the neck into 'this dirty marriage'? We all know Zik was a 'true Nigerian' and a nationalist, so you ain't telling us anything about him that we don't already know; even some of his kinsmen aren't happy with his idealist (some may say fantasist) notion of 'one Nigeria'!

But the question you should be asking yourself is why a two-faced, double-speaking tribalist like your god Awo was happy to spill blood and send his conscience and moral scruples on a long vacation holiday while he committed all kinds of unspeakable evil to sustain something he never believed in ab initio.......to sustain a lie......to sustain a mere geographical expression!

Ndigbo made it clear that they wanted out of this fake union, but your ilk -who haven't for one day questioned the actions of your god Awo- fought to keep them as 'fellow countrymen' against their will; now you throw a hissy-fit when you discover that all Ndigbo are not 100% saints like you had expected, and you plot all manner of underhand schemes to reduce their numbers in Lagos.....a city that you intentionally made the countrys sole economic hub!

@Post: Isn't this an old story from last year? Don't tell me Fashola has done the same thing again! undecided

I dont know how old you are but even if you are underage (at least yo have access to the internet and you can type!), you should try and "READ-UP" on your history, instead of asking questions that make you appear silly.

I will summarize it for you but l expect you to go back to your Library and CONFIRM whatever l have written:

1.) The Biafran war was initially between the Igbos (Easterners) and the Hausa/Fulani (Northerners). Igbos were killed in the North, there was Reprisals in the East just like Igbo Military guys killed Northern Military elites and Northerners retaliated... and so on. SO, Igbos wanted "out"

2.) At this stage, the Westerners have NOTHING to do with the war. Igbos tried to "DRAG US" into it, by asking for our support, to join them to fight the Northerners. It was coyed in form of a "We will declare secession and we want you to do the same, when we do ours". The reasoning was that the Northerners cannot afford to fight the war on two fronts.

3.) The Westerners, characteristically take "good stock" before engaging in any action (Read Wole Soyinka's quote about "Bravery not being in reckless actions and words".) They gave it a "second thought" and realized they were NOT PREPARED to FIGHT AND WIN A WAR RIGHT NOW.

4.) While the Yorubas were still bidding for time to "get prepared for a war" (Weapons and Logistics), the Igbos, in their Characteristic manner of boating, reckless bravado and self-over-exaggeration of ability, as a result of their inability to "critically self-examine" (something they termed as cowardice in Westerners/Yoruba) SIMPLY DECLARED SECESSION and that marks the beginning of the BIAFRAN WAR! They never consulted and sought approval of the Yorubas whom they expect to CO-OPT into WAR!

Now, How this is the problem of Yorubas or how we caused them to Declare secession, is still a mystery.

5.) The war has been on for over 15months and the Westerners/Yorubas simply stood aside. Some Yorubas (like Col. Banjo, Wole Soyinka even gave "tacit support" to the Igbo cause because we sympathize with their victimisation (rightly or wrongly), in the North.

6.) Odumegwu Ojukwu, who as a personification of the Igbo war, wisdom and cause .... at one point felt he MUST FORCE THE YORUBAS into the war. We made him understand that "we feel we cannot win the war as we were NOT PREPARED FOR THE WAR. The mallams have control of all the important Garrisons, the armoured battalions even in Ibadan!
Only a stupid man goes to war expecting his enemy to make things easy for him or provide him with weapons and support.

7.) As balanced as the war was at this point, Ojukwu, in his "infantile wisdom" was still adamant on forcing the hand of the Westerners into the war.
OJUKWU HENCE DEVISED A STEWPID AND CLANDESTINE MOVE: HE STARTED ATTACKING THE WESTERN REGION!
He crossed the Onitsha bridge and started waging war Southwards! He ransacked the Mid West (Benin and Delta regions), he looted, burned the remains and took our women hostage, raping and generally sowing mayhem.

8.) Awo sent message to him requesting that OJUKWU SHOULD DIRECT HIS WAR EFFORT NORTHWARDS as we will like to remain NEUTRAL. Ojukwu will hear nothing of this.

9.) AWOLOWO was using "WISDOM" while OJUKWU was using "RECKLESSNESS and BRAWN".
One after another, Ojukwu ransacked Western Cities, Edo fell, Akure, Ondo town fell (undefended) until He got to Oore.
This is when Awolowo reasoned that you cannot be attacking and killing my people, while you say we are friends.
NOTE: Yorubas NEVER ATTACKED IGBOS.

During the war up to this point, those who chose to remain in Lagos, were still well protected by their Lagos Host (infact, Lagos was a Federal capital so we considered them "one of us".)

10.) When Ojukwu will not listen to reason, and as typical of most Igbo (and you can see the same herd mentality over here), none of his brethrens were willing to tell him the truth; They chose to bury their heads in the sand.

Awolowo was finally rumbled and roused from his patience and in a SINGLE DISPLAY of MASTERLY STROKE, he brought the Biafran Shenanigan to a HALT IN OORE!

[b]Now, what would the average Igbo leader or person do (let us be honest to ourselves for once, we are still brothers), if your so-called friend is attacking you, killing your people and setting your house on fire, when you have done him no wrong?
We did not wrong the Igbo, they attacked us, just to force us into a war we never wanted to be a part of.

This is the part of "the War History" that Igbo fathers and grand fathers have refused to tell their children.
They have tried to justify their stewpidty and treachery while blaming their fool-hardiness and consequent loss of the war on Yorubas.
For christ sake, its a war, a 3year war we are talking about! In war, ALL IS FAIR!! Thats why its called a W-A-R-R-R wink

So, if you must insult Awolowo for the action he took, you must also acknowledge his patience and reluctance to engage in war while at the same time, you have to salute his acumen and tactical approach at ending a war that had dragged on for over two years, in less than six months.
That is the stuff Yorubas are made-of!
No Gra-Gra, No mouthing, No chest-beating, No self-delusion, No grand-standing, ....Just meticulous planning and precise execution.

Ojukwu and his military tacticians should have known better than to start a war they cant finish, expecting to force an ally's hand into war, wasting the lives of over two million Igbos in what essentially was a show of Gra-Gra ..and attacking the WEST! (Bad Move)

THE NAME ANINI AND MONDAY OSUBOR RINGS A BELL!!!!

Anini and Monday Osubor weren't igbos sorry try again. Before them, there was Dr. Ishola who is allegedly Nigerian father of armed robbery just like Soyinka is to cultism.

@Post, I really hate contributing to the politics section. It is filled with sentiments and tribalism.

What Lagos state government did is wrong. There are Lagos indigenous citizens without job, education or accommodation that are nuisance to Lagos residents. Where will they be shipped to?

Just like it was wrong of Okorocha to do similar thing some time ago.

Every Nigerian citizen regardless of tribe, gender, religion or social status has the right to live and thrive in any of the 36 states in Nigeria.

If a Nigerian citizen can only live in his/her indigenous place in peace, is it not sensible for Nigeria to secede.

PS; if Nigeria can have the spirit of unity, the igbos will make good scientists, Yorubas good in medicine, Hausa's farmers, Fulani's good veterans, ethnic groups from edo will make good car racers/ marksman(Anini and Monday comes to mind).

Nigeria's greatness lies in the over 250 ethnic groups in it. Each group is unique and has something tangible to contribute if only all can look past ethnic sentiments and feeling of self importance.

Well, you tried with your write up if I must be truthful. I know that we made some serious mistakes during the war especially not planning well before declaring Biafra and invading the west but I wonder why you guys allowed the northerners to take over military apparatus in the west. We do not want another war because war is not good for anyone but trust me, we have taken time to analyze the war to ensure the same mistakes would not be repeated. A well armed Igbo side can drive the Fulani into Chad and they know it. We are proud of our resilience and heart of steel.

Really we do not hate Yorubas and sometimes I wonder why all this tension between us. Truth be told, you guys have been very accommodating and hospitable. As for deportations, I really don't know what to say but that something must be done about people who contribute nothing to the state in as much as law-abiding citizens are not disturbed. This should be looked at nationally.

Yorubas, I they salute O, ONE LOVE!

Eko ile or iragbeji ile does not and will never speak for lagosians. Even his boss Tinubu is not a Lagosian

Lagosians and yorubas in general are not tribalistic. We lagosians love Igbos and other Nigerians without being bias.

Now let me some statements here

1. There are true indigenes of Lagos state and we are still Alive in number. In fact 50-60% of yorubas you see in Lagos are true Lagosians (undiluted blood) and I am one of them and we have them here on Nairaland as well.

2. Lagos is a yoruba state which is under Nigeria thus the culture and setting of the state is yoruba. Egun, Awori, Ijebu and Egbas are yorubas. I am half Awori and Egun myself and my name is yoruba, I speak yoruba, I dress Yoruba and I would always be associated with yoruba. Not only myself but the whole state.

3. This does not mean there is any discrimination against non-indigenes such as the Igbos. It is wrong and that is not what Fashola is trying to do. Fashola has nothing against Igbos

4. Lagos is not operating as a different country so there is no citizenship so to put it. Everyone can trace their root back to their village. What I mean is that even if you are the third generation lagosian, it does not make you an indigene. You can and will be sent packing once this country split unless the traditional laws are changed.

With all that said, we are all brothers so lets enjoy this country while it last. grin grin grin grin

alj harem: Eko ile or iragbeji ile does not and will never speak for lagosians.

You are free to state your personal opinion, but it's cowardly to rope into your flawed opinion other people's name. You are nobody's spokesman so speak for yourself only...

Desola,

There are some lovely Igbo folks out there. Please don't judge them all because of the actions of some loudmouths.

grin grin grin grin so are likes of eko ile and co. You cannot try to paint a picture here whereas it is a lie. You make it seem like Yorubas hate Igbos and that is false which you know.

Yeah at times I wish the same but at the end of the day, tolerance is all that matters. Actually some of us have family members that are Igbos so what do we do ? (Although they know their place in terms of the discussion here).

Good for you!

When Nigeria breaks, don't forget to head eastward with your family as no omo ale would be allowed.

But then again, you are Hausa so you can do as you wish with them
