If lagos was never the capital of Nigeria lagos would have been like any of the non oil producing coastal state like cross river and ogun, whose dependence is to oil producing Niger delta states, what special or specific magic that yoruba did to eko the former war camp of the Benin empire that they have not been able to make of ibadan the yoruba capital

Lagos had a train line in 1895 and a Telephone exchange in 1898

Lagos has Always been way ahead of Umuakpu.
Carter bridge was there in 1901

Tell me what was happening in Umuakpu circa 1901

You are ignorant and full of hate and in that state of mind you cannot learn.
FYI Nigeria has about 1000km of coastline but the only part that is NOT swampy or inland is in Lagos just like what you have in Cotonou or Lome. The rest is inland and it will cost at least 15 times to build a container port anywhere else in Nigeria.Even then it will remain perpeuatlly risky to large vessels. I suggest you read about the gulf of Guinea.

That is the source of Lagos's wealth and why it became capital not the other way round. Tell us with all the money spend on Abuja to date how much money is generated in Abuja ??

The truth is because of the Port in the early days all the manufacturers located in Lagos and the rest is history. Of course we must remember that Lagos State was created in 1967 and Some parts of the Western Region were added to the new state.Particularly Ikeja was part of the Western Region whose government had talken advantage of proximity to the Federal Capital to ensure that manufacturing was located next to the Port. Why not decree that manufacturing should move to Abuja because it is capital. The truth is it is all about the Port which has no realistic rival

Would have preferred the serenity and the crime free of those places you mentioned without the crime you people brought along.

You guys love to spin cheap, malicious, hand-me-down lies that can be punctured by simpletools like google. We know the people that pioneered gbomo gbomo (kidnapping) and armed robbery.

No the British did not build a bridge because of whims. They were very meticulous in running their colonies and kept detailed records.
I suggest you read the 1898 report on the Colony of Lagos

Dont mind the clowns Lagos and Abeokuta had Post Offices Telegraph in 1898 and Lagos had Street lights but they will tell us it was FG or oil money that made Lagos. If you like dredge the Niger for ever No shipper will go there .They will stop in Lagos!! Companies will always establish next to the Port.In fact Ogun State should start warming up First the eye will see then the mouth will chew and chew before e reach belle.Make Nyansh(Onisha) exercise patience

As usual,,you lot are born with lack of comprehension ....when I said crime rate will drastically reduce when you are all gone...does that mean crime was never in existence?

You need to slowly assimilate comment and stop exposing your ignorance on a public forum like this.

I think it's more urgent for Jonathan's admin to relocate your brain from your scrotum to your head. Your wish to pull us down while faking victim is DENIED! by the Almighty.

kettykin: Much as igbos are getting ready to defend their hard earned property in lagos, I would suggest that igbos in th government team up and use their privileged position to have the government invest in new commercial capitals this could be in kogi state or cross river state where there is ample land space and close to the sea, the relocation of oil companies headquarters in lagos should be hastened to the Niger delta states, the relocation of cbn and the banking headquarters to abuja should also be implemented, the ncc should also have all the telecommunications firms move their headquarters and data centres to abuja to aid in easier supervision of the business and transactions, the idea of ibaka becoming the eastern maritime hub will not be be a bad idea to help decongest lagos ports. Jonathan should have these on his drawing board by now , these will help him have a smoother second term devoid of the unusual stupid criticism and name calling from a section of the country who wouldbe kept busy by then wworrying of whatever is remaining of their economic parasitism

If only lagos had a real source of wealth or riches like oil deposits or solid mineral and not depending on other zones contribution would you be talking this way

As usual you lot exhibit duplicity and are fluid in EVERYTHING even on an anonymous forum you can't help it. So now you are talking about crime "reducing drastically" see your first post -

So from yapping about lagos becoming crime free you saw facts and couldn't stand your ground like a man instead you're flapping like live fish thrown into a puddle of poo. Face your history- Yoruba men like you pioneered robbery, forgery (oluwole) and gbomo gbomo (kidnapping) in lagos.

what will you call a natural deep sea port? don't deceive yourself, people are not in lagos because they love yorubas so much but because of what the place can offer.

Re: Heavy Riot At Ladipo Market by originbm: 3:42pm On Aug 02, 2013
i hv always admired the yoruba tribe for their unbounded capacity for treachery and subservience....everything they have gained from this mismanaged conglomerate of a nation is because of this...the yoruba achieves a lot without fighting...the setup called nigeria has been of the greatest benefit to them...but times are changing...our world is a different one now...any war that comes up again in nigeria,at least everybody now knows who the yorubas are...any yoruba that prognosticating the outcome of another war based on wat obtained from the past war is a fool...now the igbos fully know who their worst enemies are...its not the abokis...or is ur leaders that r just stooges of the northern oligarchy?Obasanjo dat destryoyed odi and zaki biam to impress the fulanis...even the hausas know who u are now or y did babangida refuse the marriage of kola abiola to his daughter?not to mention that they r both muslims...u guys benefit feom treachery...never u confuse it with bravery...

This is the time Yorubas need to wake up.

Stop being docile and "sophisticated".

You are not too "sophisticated" to protect your image.

Ibos should not be handed monopoly over tribalism.

When Ibo almajiris point at you and call your land poverty-stricken, who will correct them?

When they devalue your land, home, family, sons, daughter, who will speak out?

You need to wake up.....

There's a private Ibo forum where Yorubas are discussed daily, basically on how to destroy their image on NL, yet you sit there and keep quiet because you're too sophisticated.

Wake up.

Why are Ibos focusing so much on what a Yoruba man (Fashola did), when Ibo governors in the past have done the same? Stop the tribalism.
