Generally only non-infantry soldiers gain weight after basics. Even then you certainly dont see anyone that out of shape.
There's no real end to the training cycle.
You can generally spot a infantry vet from the way they describe basic training compared to other units. Basics are mild compared to conventional training that follows.

In WW 2 the Japs insisted they didn't murder any of the 70k US/Phils' POWs during the 100 km Bataan death march to camps in April 1942. t least 6000 died and the Japs swore it was their lack of physical fitness of typical garrison troops. In the Korean war the UN kicked arse til the Yalu in 1950 IIRC,the Chinese border. Mao sent in his boys and they had to retreat as fast as possible. Most US prisoners were taken at this time as they couldn't keep up with their units.
Its a problem staying fit in normal demands of operations but time must be found. Btw,military cadets usually gain weight after graduation.

Please stop rewriting History.
Hundreds of British Soldiers were deliberately starved to death due to the Japanese Army being unprepared for the unprecedented number of British Soldiers that surrender.
Usually I try not to comment but survivors have borne witness to the amount of food they were fed it had nothing to do with physical fitness.
The Korean war and it's aftermath again had nothing to do with physical fitness but :
1) The willingness of China to intervene and sacrifice hundreds of thousands of regular troops
2) Some of the poor decisions that were made by Gen Douglass MacArthur

The LAPPSET project has basically stalled due to lack of funding. Uganda has shifted it's oil pipeline from Lamu to a Tanzanian route. Basically LAPPSET can only serve :
1. Ethiopia (which has access to the sea from Djibouti and has started mending fences with Eritrea
2. South Sudan( a failed state)

As regards planning of the operation.... I sincerely doubt that they made any strategic calculations about the long term implications. Larges areas within Kenya are no go zones in Madera, Wajir, Garissa and Lamu. The funding for KDF in Somalia comes from the EU and USA . Do you honestly think that they will continue funding AMISOM forever.

Errr.....no. There's no way the gov can abandon Lapsset!
Kasuku: The Lapsset corridor is opening up close to 70 per cent of the Kenyan land space, about 200 per cent more space for development. That covers many communities, making available more land for agriculture and all other forms of productivity. We are talking about a socioeconomic rebirth of Kenya.
https://www.the-star.co.ke/news/2018/07/05/banditry-declines-as-lapsset-spurs-business-in-new-towns_c1775221

The first container terminal will be ready in Dec with the remaining 2 ready in 2020 with a combined capacity of 1.2 TEUs.

The road from Isiolo to Moyale is already complete and in use, while that from Lokichar to the border with South Sudan is already under construction.

The government is already making arrangements for construction works for the section of the road from Lamu-Garissa-Isiolo, then from Isiolo-Lokichar. Designs have already been completed for the Lamu-Isiolo section, while designs for Isiolo-Lokichar are at an advanced stage.

I've got fam in Lamu and they tell me how the place has grown tremendously the past 5 yrs. The same thing with all those small towns along the corridor-this thing will transform Kenya;the Anglo Zionists know this so you hear of Brit based terrorists leading attacks in the same place.

Air Forces Monthly states it's a Super Puma H225 TAFC serial 5H-TAF. There is a photo with TAF markings.

The Nigerian Army has ordered for 10,000 ballistic vests and helmets from an indigenous company to kit its troops, especially those deployed in the fight against insurgency and other internal security operations.

ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved the issuance of a certificate of sovereign guarantee for the sale of three JF-17 aircraft to Nigerian Air Force against a sum of $184.3 million, to support the declining foreign exchange reserves.

The Ministry of Defence Production had tabled a summary before the ECC which approved the issuance of a certificate of sovereign guarantee to show commitment for the provision of the aforementioned aircraft to Nigerian Air Force, in line with a contract signed between the two sides recently.

Officials familiar with the development told The Express Tribune that the Ministry of Defence Production informed the ECC that the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) was continuing its role as Repair Overhaul Organisation (ROO) for technical operation support of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).
The ministry further informed the economic decision-making committee that the PAC Kamra had signed a contract for the sale of three JF-17 aircraft and associated package to Nigerian Air Force.

According to Article 6.1 of the contract, PAC Kamra shall present the sovereign bank guarantee from the Government of Pakistan prior to the release of payment by Nigeria. No bank loan or credit financing is involved in this case, the ECC was told.

The ministry told the ECC that the Nigerian authorities had been informed that the Government of Pakistan would issue a certificate of sovereign guarantee rather than a certificate of sovereign bank guarantee, and the Nigerians had agreed to it.

The guarantee referred here is the surety from the Government of Pakistan that contracted products and related equipment would be provided to the purchaser by the PAC Kamra. A draft of the requisite guarantee acceptable to the purchaser is also required concurrently.

Saffas, now that the Badger programme is on course for next year where does that leave the excellent Rooikat 105?
In the 2017/18 financial year the plan is to produce 59 turrets and deliver twenty completed systems. Deliveries of all 242 Badgers is set to conclude in 2022.
http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48055:badger-service-entry-on-track-for-2019&catid=50:Land&Itemid=105

You've no dedicated Badger AT version:
There are five main Badger variants for the South African Army: the Section variant with 30 mm CamGun; the Mortar variant with a 60 mm, 6 kilometre range breech-loading mortar developed locally by DLS; the Fire Support variant with 30 mm CamGun, the Anti-tank variant with Ingwe missiles, and the Command Variant which enables Command and Control from company level.
You ofc know what happens when fighting in forested savannahs and tree branches get in the way of 20k$ ATGMs;imo you still need a 105 Squasheads and APFSDS to punch through thickets and branches and destroy other lurking LAVs-not everyone will be on the level of M23/Seleka/BH/AS. There's no Badger/Rooikat 105 equivalent-61mech,patches869,ssaengine,andrewza,jln115,frumentius,mikecza,what gives?
Also are you dropping the game changing AMOS 120 mm Patria? Btw,it can fire in direct mode!

That's why we have tanks......to take on other tanks!! Even the Rooikat 105 was never meant to be an AT platform!!!

If you even look back at the border war the only dedicated AT platform(Besides man portable missiles and recoilless guns) the Army had was Ratel Zt3s
