Tough love is the only way I know to deal with insecurity. Don't ever change your character because of insecurity it doesn't assuage it rather you even become resentful because you changed but the other didn't. Stand your ground in telling the other that they have you 100% while at the same time check to see if you aren't overstepping the bounds of propriety. If the other cannot accept you as you are it bodes ill for that relationship.
